Yep. That's how these women who wear weaves and wigs all the time have the long hair that they have. Can't do that if you are changing your own hair every few weeks. That gets into too much manipulation.
You can grow your hair without synthetic hair on or in it and in doing that you stay consistent for a while at a time(wraps, buns, updo's, etc)

These big knotless braids can't last over 2 weeks to be honest, it gets fuzzy really fast. You incorporate head wraps to cover that scalp but like sis I just take em down. Cant keep a dirty scalp for too long.🤷🏻♀️
Some of us will wash when the hair gets fuzzy like how her hair was, that is when I would start washing it and get into my hair washing schedule. I think she and others of us wait so as to preserve the brand new style. Don't want to have freshly smoothed in hair to then only last a week and then you end up tired of it already and take it out.
Once it fuzzes on its own or so then you get into washing.

2 weeks is quick girl! my protective styles are normally in for a 4-8 weeks. Right now I have braids that's been in since June 1st. I'm taking them out next week! I do have an amazing shampoo and conditioner from my friend line which is amazing with my hair plus her oils. However, I'm going to get these products and follow the steps you are doing and see how it goes. With braids they do make things easier to maintain but there can be product build up. I had more length but unfortunately a stylist completely messed up my hair back in 2019 then this year (2021) a stylist put so much heat on my natural hair that it took out majority of my edges which has never happened before so I am doing protective styles to grow my hair back. I know you speak a lot on wash and goes, for me it's protective styles that help my hair grow along with continuous and proper hair care done at home (takes about 2 hours but I do not mind).. Thank you again for sharing your routine :)

How often do you add protein? How do you know your hair requires it. I have high porosity hair but am so afraid of protein overload, I find myself using more moisturizing products than protein

I've noticed that you don't use oil, does your scalp not get dry?
Oil just seals in moisture so it’s not necessary fir everyone. I can’t relate to that though.
