The Beatles told a story about the day after Sgt. Pepper's came out , Jimi Hendrix was playing all the songs from the album in a club. People took things all the time back then.
Bruh.... that was a tribute to the Beatles, Jimi even acknowledged them vocally and knew Paul was in the crowd. He wasn't stealing their songs, stealing from an album like Peppers would not be subtle at all
@@TutankhamaruCapac 100% correct. That commenter's analogy is so flawed. Covering a song is one thing, especially in a live setting. It's a tribute and everyone knows what is happening. But Zeppelin recorded the songs, and Jimmy Page gave himself the songwriting credits to other people's music!
He played one song of theirs that night. Not even the whole song. He opened with about a minute and a half of the title song but switched it to the key of E flat. There is audio of it on here.
@@drewmoser882 I'm only going to say this once, so you Hendrix fans can chill out or not, I don't care. Jimi Hendrix was an amazing artist, a revolutionary guitar player and the kind of person who could pick up a song just by hearing it once. But Jimi was a man of his time and in his time people took songs from one another. Jimi just did it quicker than most. In 1965 a band called The Leaves released 'Hey Joe' less than a year later Jimi was recording it. Bob Dylan released 'All Along the Watchtower' on Dec 27 1967 in Jan- 1968 Jimi was recording it. 'Born Under A Bad Sign' Albert King 1967 ....Jimi Hendrix 1968. 'Tax Free' Hansson & Karlsson 1967... Jimi Hendrix 1968. Jimi had lots of covers that he played. So did most musicians at that time. From somewhere Bob Dylan pick up 'The House of the Rising Sun' in 1962 and then The Animals made it a bigger hit in 1964. The same song sometimes charted at the same time under different artists. The 60's was a different time, no one was getting sued for copyright infringement. Even the famous Chuck Berry vs The Beach Boys over 'Surfin U.S.A. never went to court, it was settled. Once the 70's came everything changed, lawsuits over music became an opportunity for huge pay day. I was not saying Jimi Hendrix was steeling music from the Beatles, if anything Jimi was showing them that old blues man moxie, of anything you can do, i can do better. And what better place to do it but in front of the worlds biggest band. That takes balls man. A tribute maybe but I think it was more like a musical challenge.
Zeppelin 4 was about as close to perfect as you can get and the Who never pulled that off. I doubt Hendrix gave a shit one way or another he really wasn't around long enough. Baker was foul about everything as time went on. Jones is a heavy talent and arguably the glue that made Zeppelin click, imho. I love that band to this day because they touched me musically and thats all that counts. Your a good presenter, don't take any crap from the peanut gallery.

They were just jealous because they did not sell as many records as they did. Beck and Page were childhood friends, and it was a coincidence they both played Dixons song on their first LPs. No, they actually were brilliant most nights. They also made the choice to improvise every single night, and not let the live shows get stale. Admittedly Robert Plant suffered a severe vocal injury during the ‘73 tour, and he had to tough it out every night because the show simply had to go on. He was still better than most. I saw them eight times, and in consecutive nights they also never played a track the same way twice. Ever. So sloppy and adventurous improvisation go hand in hand…. You want rubber stamped just like the album performances, go see some of the acts nowadays that are playing to backing and click tracks, or lip synching their way through shows in attempt to “sound like the album”. Zeppelin at their peak played three hour long shows with no opening act, night after night. The buildings they played in were typically giant sports stadiums with real accounting for the acoustics or sound, and they have left relatively few authorized live recordings. Much of their reputation for bad live shows has to be attributed to bad bootlegs and grainy handheld home movie camera sound. It’s likely you never saw them live, or if you did you caught a bad night, but when they were on, they were magnificent in their ability, sound, and sheer charisma. The oldest video of Zeppelin, dated March 17, 1969, shows Bonham using a single bass drum. There was nothing of Vanilla Fudge in Dazed and Confused. The Fudge released a version of it in 2007, almost 40 years after Hendrix died. They gave credit to Jake Holmes and Jimmy Page. As for Zeppelin's version there is a part the song with the famous descending bass line of the Holmes' song but the lyrics were new and the whole heart of the song was original. You Shook Me was a blues standard played by many bands, not just the Jeff Beck Band. It was a Muddy Waters song. The Good Times Bad Times bass comment referred to the bass drum not the bass guitar and the use of triplets. Bonham said he was inspired to play triplets by Appice after hearing in the Beatles' Ticket to Ride on which Appice played. Appice did not play triplets on the bass drum, which is what Bonham did. The Tim Bogert mention is because someone thought Bonham was talking about the bass guitar played by Bogert in Vanilla Fudge when he made the comment. You see, Appice was in Vanilla Fudge too. Gave up this video after that.

Pete can be a bit of a dick, but he was an exceptional songwriter for The Who. Not the greatest guitarist, but he made the most of what he had..His last name is pronounced Towns-Henned..Like Cocka-doodle-doo..Oh. Wait..That's a Rooster..Didn't grow up on a farm..Now, Carmine Appice pronunciation..Appice is an Italian last name, so it would be Ah-Peach-Ay, in Italy..In America with "Vanilla Fudge" it was pronounced App-issy.. But when he played with Rod Stewart, and then Jeff Beck (Beck, Bogert and Appice) he decided to go with Ah-peace...It stuck.
Jimi saying Zep ripped people off is pretty funny. Jimi's breakthrough was a cover of Hey Joe. Jimi's biggest radio play was a cover of All Along the Watchtower followed closely by a cover of Wild Thing
Covering someone's song isn't ripping them off. Led Zeppelin has been criticized for taking pieces of other people's music and turning them into "original" songs credited to themselves. I like Zeppelin, but there's some truth to this. Still, blues musicians were constantly building their songs out of already existing material.
Cover songs are not ripping people off. You're literally telling everyone who's song you're playing (and you're doing it with permission from the original artist).
These “editorial comments” are well known by any true Zep fan. I wonder what these wankers would’ve thought of Genesis and Yes. lol . Even Page (who I truly respect) was well known to have disliked Jethro Tull which, in my opinion, was a more sophisticated and musically accomplished act than Led Zep.
Yeah that’s why he easily the most influential rock drummer in history. As a guy who saw ALL of the great rock drummers in the 70’s, including Bonham eight times with LZ, I can tell you he was loud. But NOBODY sounded like Bonham. Nobody. Guys like Peart were machine like perfection, but he couldn’t hold Bonham’s sticks when it came to organic feel and emotion. Don’t be an ass clown. It’s fine to like other drummers more, but don’t disrespect the great John Henry Bonham.
Ya know, none of these ancient jealousies mean a damn thing, really..Nobody cares what Keef, Pete, Eric, and the rest think..They did their thing, and LZ did theirs. Not much more to it than that..Like the old saying, "It's like assholes..Everyone's got one, and if you don't, you have my sympathy..That must be some tough sledding!"
It wasn't You Shook Me.... it was How Many More Times..... and the guitar part that was similar... Jimmy Page WROTE Beck's Bolero!!! He stole from himself.... get the facts, girl!!!
Zeppelin were a good band but very sloppy. Yes they did steal and never gave credit. Who, Cream, Hendrix, Stones imo were more clever, more original and just much better..they also gave credit where credit was due

Can't believe you didn't mention Stairway to Heaven. That's the one they're most famous for stealing. As a lifelong musician/songwriter, I think thieves are the scum of the earth. That said.... and I really hate to admit this because it goes against my principles: I give Zepp / Jimmy a pass. He really created some beautiful music by taking from mostly obscure songs and elevated the ideas to timeless beauty. No one will remember the songs he stole from, but the music he created with the ideas he stole will last forever and gave me a lot of joy. Jimmy is like the Japanese. Can't invent much, but sure af can take an existing idea and create magic with it .
I hold nothing against Hendrix. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I love Hendrix and Zeppelin!!❤❤❤ Led Zeppelin made The Who sound like a castraded boys church choir!! Facts!!
I don't know about that who made highly original music last time I checked led Zeppelin didn't create their own rock opera or any form of conceptualized music for that matter it's one thing to do endless blistering covers of Old blues tunes and everybody else's music it's another thing to create your own story I think the real issue with led Zeppelin is they would not give credit unless they were forced to
@@robbielux8353 exactly just listen to Tommy you can tell those boys were crafting rock and roll story, or even from their early days of a track like pictures of Lily a song literally about falling in love with a pin-up girl or even Boris the spider a creepy little tune about a spider or a snotty track like My generation where they're basically telling the haters off

i never said i was right, i just love led zeppelin! i’m reading from articles & i give the writers credit lol…..not hating anyone…. i’m so glad you left a comment tho helps my channel! thanks for briefly watching! 🖤
@@mmoooosh I like that your incongruent Moosh ! ❤️
Carmine Appice is pronounced "App a see"
hahaha i often pronounce a lot of things wrong in my videos. work in progress. thanks for watching!🖤
Not true, his brother and drummer Vinny goes by app a see, Carmine goes by
a piece. The actual pronunciation is more like ap e chee
All of them take inspiration from someone else and that’s it
facts. thanks for watching!🖤
You're literally telling everyone who's song you're playing (and you're doing it with permission from the original artist).
true that they r covers but i appreciate the comment, i love Jimi….thanks for taking the time to comment and watch my video!🖤
Credited cover.... Vs what Zep did
Zep also had many, many original songs. Jimi had like 2. His 7th version of Red House was cool though
These “editorial comments” are well known by any true Zep fan.
I wonder what these wankers would’ve thought of Genesis and Yes. lol .
Even Page (who I truly respect) was well known to have disliked Jethro Tull which, in my opinion, was a more sophisticated and musically accomplished act than Led Zep.
thanks for watching!🖤
Jimmy is way better than clapton, and the cream drummer, whats his name, could not even clean up bonzos vommit
Bonham could not bounce his sticks and only played loud. they were posers.
self taught …fake it til u make it baby, thanks for watching!🖤
@@PurplePickle00 hahahaha oops oh well! 😂 thanks for watching anyways 🖤
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one! Led Zeppelin is and will always be a fantastic band!
Zeppelin were a good band but very sloppy. Yes they did steal and never gave credit. Who, Cream, Hendrix, Stones imo were more clever, more original and just much better..they also gave credit where credit was due
Beware of Mr. Baker, bonzo.
lol ginger baker was an amazing drummer…thanks for watching!
@@mmoooosh he sure was. Very interesting man too. I like Zeppelin but the amount of music that they ripped off of lesser / mostly unknown black blues players is criminal.
Wow why are all these guys so rude?
They must be having fun exaggerating to journalists. I'm not saying I even like most things Led Zeppelin has done but I'd think if you're in the same scene you'd at least have some appreciation for the band who brought you Stairway to Heaven.
i feel u! thanks for watching!!!🖤
Wasn't Led Zep the latest of all the British invasion bands? I think because they were the new kids on the block, they had to have their asses kicked by the older boys. Plus there was the whole plagerism thing.... ❤
yes they are, imagine life without zeppelin? hmmm….thanks for watching!🖤
Jimmy page borrowed a lot of stuff from many different artists including his contemporaries the small faces and bert jansch are the first to come to mind
Black mountain side was straight jacked from bert janches black water side
And a snippet of a small faces tune you need love became zeppelins anthem whole lotta love
With that said I still love zeppelin they were a powerhouse of a band what's not to love?
i appreciate the comment and thank you for watching!🖤
LMAO OK BAHHAA
bahahahahaha
At :1.47. You making excuses for "The Zep" totally ripping off riffs melodies and nearly whole songs.
That ignorance is more than I listen to.
Like the 15 + law suits that they have accrued over the years; for plagiarizing and copyright infringement, (that they've lost) Are imaginary.
I will label this video content (The narrative/narration) ill infirmed biased & 100% Clown Shoes, IMO.
The good news for you and me is.. I'm outta' here never to return,
And after only a minute and a half in; I think that's a record
i mean this video isn’t about led zeppelin ripping people off lol but it’s true i am biased! thanks for taking the time out of your day to leave a comment and watching for a whole minute!!! 🖤
@@mmoooosh I know I said I wouldn't return ..
But your reply gave me cause to.
Yeah I figured I should at least comment and help your youtube algorithm. Even if negative, Nor did I click dislike.
Thanks for he reply; most don't bother.. Peace Out !
Can't invent much, but sure af can take an existing idea and create magic with it .
thanks for watching!🖤
I hold nothing against Hendrix. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I love Hendrix and Zeppelin!!❤❤❤ Led Zeppelin made The Who sound like a castraded boys church choir!! Facts!!
I don't know about that who made highly original music last time I checked led Zeppelin didn't create their own rock opera or any form of conceptualized music for that matter it's one thing to do endless blistering covers of Old blues tunes and everybody else's music it's another thing to create your own story I think the real issue with led Zeppelin is they would not give credit unless they were forced to
Abigail ..It's your opinion 👌.. Not Facts. That's a fact 💯 !!
love hendrix as well!!! hahaha i know what you mean!! thanks for the comment & for watching!🖤
Who were a much better band and way more original
@@robbielux8353 exactly just listen to Tommy you can tell those boys were crafting rock and roll story, or even from their early days of a track like pictures of Lily a song literally about falling in love with a pin-up girl or even Boris the spider a creepy little tune about a spider or a snotty track like My generation where they're basically telling the haters off
Lol...because Zeppelin was SOOOO much better than they were!
straight facts!!! thanks for watching!!!🖤
No they weren’t
Bands that don't like Led Zeppelin are jealous IMO
facts. thank u for watching!🖤
Hard to listen to, reading is rough 😢
hahaha i agree. i am mildy dyslexic & i’m trying to work on this & pronounciation… but thanks for giving it a try anyways🖤
AKA bands who will never be as good as Led Zeppelin so they hate em...
thanks for watching!🖤
Zep did kinda suck. They were og hacks
I noticed how much you suck too…
lol thanks for watching anyways!🖤
I know it must be hard dealing on an intellectual level when you have the mental capacity of a 13 year old Taylor Swift fan…
Zeppelin sucks
Sure😅😅😅
You forgot to add, "said no one ever".
He meant it as in suck other peoples songs. Which is true 😎@@markastoforoff7838
hahaha thanks for the comment!🖤
Ok I’ll be the other ten year old in the room and say so do you!
List of jealous or tasteless artists.
lol thanks for watching!🖤
The only thing they ripped off were a bunch of lyrics on the first few albums. Bunch of haters. They've all done with lyrics and riffs.
thanks for watching !!🖤
Very true. Plant was 19 years old, it was homage to the old blues artists, not trying to kick their rocking chairs out from under them.
I hate to say it...Jimi Hendrix did many people's songs...sorry
Lead Zitland.
This analysis is hopelessly lame
& You Sir are comfortably numb. 😑
it’s okay to be lame, thanks for stopping by!🖤
If you learn how to play you stole something
hahahaha in a way that is true! thanks for leaving a comment and for watching!🖤
This as a horribly delivered video.
Pretty poorly delivered comment.
we can’t all be perfect. that would be boring! thanks for stopping by! & for leaving a comment! cya!!!🖤
