    H/H match update:
    ...
    ~~~Today's action:
    Our champion easily wins the tie-breaker and with it his third game. (And at 15:18 when Gene says "Mike, you haven't won the big one yet...", he must have been referring to the getting the top answer on the audience match board, because the champion chose the $100 answer the first time and the $250 answer the second time. At first I thought Gene meant scoring a head-to-head match, which the champion did do with Richard on his first try.)
    *Today's audience match question: "Edward________"*
    (My thoughts: Asner, ???, ???) I'll say Asner because he's a MG alum (six weeks total on the show) and pass on the rest. Name questions are hard for me. All I can think of is Edward Scissorhands and Edward Norton, neither of which works in 1978...)
    The celebs: Charles (G. Robinson), Richard (Albert), Mary (Asner)
    The choice: G. Robinson
    The answers: The VIII, G. Robinson, Asner - Kudos to Mary for suggesting the top answer even though she was called on last!
    I find it impressive that the contestant didn't "trust" Richard as so many tend to do. In all honesty, Eddie Albert sounded like a decent answer, but it wasn't on the board. It's not often that a champion misses the top answer three times in a row...
    And now for the H/H. He did match once with Richard and not match once with Richard. I fully imagine he'll choose him again, but it'd be nice if he picked Charles after winning with his AM suggestion... (And it's not like he would be taking a huge risk by choosing Charles, given that CNR has a better track record at matching in the H/H than Richard. But for that matter, so do Fannie and Brett!)
    Yawn redux. This is now King Richard's 52nd consecutive H/H attempt. (No other celeb has played a head-to-head question since Fannie in 1132.)
    Stats: Richard has matched 147 of his 340 most recent attempts (43.2%), 86 of his last 200 attempts (43.0%), 39 of his past 92 attempts (42.4%), 25 of his past 65 attempts (38.5%), and 8 of his past 23 attempts (34.8%). His overall success rate is *42.2%* and this is his 818th attempt so far.
    For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Fannie has matched 16 of her 33 attempts (48.5%), Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%), and Richard has matched 345 of his 817 attempts (42.2%). Neither Mary Wickes nor Gary Crosby has yet been chosen for a head-to-head question.
    *Today's H/H question: "Weight________"*
    (I had to "wait" for Gene to spell it out before I could even begin thinking! So I guess "wait a minute" is out... A weight machine like in a gym? Weight rack, still in a gym. Weight and height doesn't sound right, it should be height and weight. Weight limit, like for trucks on highways or bridges or sometimes in elevators. I guess "weight loss" is probably the most generic thing I can think of. I'll say that.)
    The champion is grinning right away. He thought of his answer immediately. Hmm. Is there something more obvious I've overlooked?
    Richard's reaction is a bit more like mine. He seemed to be looking at Fannie and possibly Mary, and appears less than thrilled with what he's writing. It looks to be at least six letters. He stares at it for a second, makes a defeated hand gesture, and slides the card in the slot looking resigned.
    Our champion was indeed ready with his answer. "Watchers." - Yeah, that sounds like a really good answer. And, it looks like Richard's answer was on the longish side, so there's a good chance! The audience is overwhelmingly positive.
    Well, I was right that he'd written a long answer: "Reduction." - Really? Yuck.
    No H/H match today.
    ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
    (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts).
    Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts).
    Charles - 48.6% (34 wins in 70 attempts).
    Fannie - 48.5% (16 wins in 33 attempts).
    (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Brett - 42.3% (30 wins in 71 attempts). (42.2535%)
    Richard - 42.2% (345 wins in 818 attempts). (42.1760%)
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
    *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1179, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)
