Thanks for the comment. There's value in this entire video for VR. That's why I posted it in the thumbnail, in the description, and at the beginning of the video.
There's a very important question that needs answering before installing Optiscaler. Just who needs these tools? For example, I have a 4090/5800X3D running at 1440 on one ultrawide 34" monitor. In 2020, I've never benefited from DLSS or Frame Gen. They're not better than TAA on my setup, and frame rates are perfectly adequate without them. If that's the case, how might the tools improve performance??
@ Thanks, I get that point, but it doesn't answer my question. What I am wanting to know is if these tools can yield performance that's better than TAA. The installation is too tedious to go through if it's inadvisable for my setup (5800X3D, 4090, 2TB 980 Pro SSD on a 1440 monitor).
@Buddy308 performance is subjective . You need to be more specific.. are you talking about charity or fps or stutters. Yes you get much more fps using frame gen . . Dlss in dlaa is much clearer than default dlaa with the sharpening and upscaling options . Taa is probably still clearer but that is subjective to everyone's pc some dlaa is better and others not . I can only show you what I can on my pc and my reaults. I don't speculate for what it can do for you idk that is for you and your pc to find out.
I'm confused. I copied the OptiScalar v7.0 files into the folder where my flightsimulator2024.exe file is. D:\MSFS\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Content I ran the registry enabler and renamed the other files as instructed. I do not see a Frame Gen option in my sim settings, even though FG is enabled and applied in the tool. Also, why am I making sure I have DLSS enabled, then using FSR in the Opticalar tool?
Thanks for your video. So how does this go with “Open XR Toolkit Companion APP”. Can they run in parallel and are they simply adjusting the same settings or are either of them a layer inbetween the different layers (MSFS, NVIDIA, etc)… Cheers Stephen

Just a Quick question, the 7.0 did not work for me, but the 6.7 boots up fine, soon as i make a change in the tool the sim crashes every time, using it only with 2024 and on steam version, any ideas?

Yes I will be doing a setting video soon. I don't necessarily like to show my settings but I will go through the process of balancing all of your settings just like I did for 2020 because what I have for my settings may not work for you so I would rather teach people how to get the best out of their system that'll be coming soon
The fact that independent modders can optimize the game like this is just embarrassing for Asobo. How do you release a game without the latest DLSS and FSR versions in the first place. The tools are right there, but they don't bother.
Thank you for this very detailed explanation However, what is becoming painfully evident to me is that tuning MSFS is becoming rocket science. It’s incredible that mere mortals who just want to pretend they are pilots have to go to this level of detail to make the sim operate the way it should operate out of the box. Assuming these changes make the sim run better, it begs the question of what will happen when Microsoft does an update which affects these changes or whether any MSFS updates will not play well with these changes. I can already hear complaints about crashes after an MSFS update, with people blaming Microsoft for the crashes. Even if these changes work as intended, personally, I will wait until Microsoft implements those changes as defaults in the sim. Much safer in my opinion, unless the current sim version is unplayable because of very poor performance. I guess that is a personal choice which also depends on the type of hardware that is being used to play MSFS.
Thanks for the comment this tool will only affect dlss and this tool is also used for any other game or simulator this is also running separately within the exe folder and is putting a wrapper around the Sims so that we can access all of the various settings for dlss that you normally can't so you're not actually modifying or changing any main files for the simulator.
@ Ok, I get it. I still hate that we may need to do anything to get a better MSFS experience. My hope was that MSFS 2024 would have been better optimized, as they hinted before the release. It was supposed to run better than the 2020 version, and my experience is that there is no noticeable improvement at all. In fact, I get slightly better frame rates with DX11 in 2020 with the same graphic settings. I upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and my video card is an RTX4090, so I foolishly hoped I could run the sim with Ultra settings in VR and get at least 60 FPS. 🤣😂🤣. Seriously, I’m not complaining about my results, just disappointed that 2024 is not visibly better than 2020, in my experience at least.
I agree . Dx11 runs better for me and 2020 runs better also for me . But I have tweaked so many settings to get it to run that way lol. I was also hoping for 2024 to run better I was just talking with someone the other day about this and I think yes they made the Sim run better and is better optimized for multi-core processors and various other things however they've added so much more detail into the scenery that now detracts from the performance so the little performance that we did gain we lost by all the added scenery enhancements that they've added to the SIM
@ Let’s face it…we are all getting spoiled and expecting miracles. Not that long ago, we were complaining about memory leaks on long flights with FSX and now, we worry about how good the grass looks if we lower the graphic settings, or complain that we get occasional stutters if we fly at 600 mph at 100 ft above ground. 😂😂😂

The only thing that does not work is frame generation all of the other settings are applicable the FSR upscaler really helps with Clarity in VR although you cannot set presets when you're using FSR I found that out later on I have a pinned comment on that however it does help clear up the glass panels and I like the feature that everything is on the fly I can change it without exiting the SIM which is really nice this way I can dial in each of my dlss quality settings for VR and it makes it much easier.. And with which headset in that case. I'm on a 4090 and the Pimax Crystal and things are super smooth 🙂 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Yes it was a headache to make this and I confuse myself several times and had to go back and re-watch the video to make sure that I didn't do anything wrong.. but yes this works perfectly fine in VR I use a pimax Crystal on a 4080 super. I worked on this video every bit of 18hrs lol labor of love
@@2020fsers Thanks for the reply, buddy. I agree, making changes on the fly is a great plus😉😊
This video newer help
Good lord that's complicated.
It may seem that way only because I went over all installs but if v7.0 works for you it's really easy .
Have an 4090 laptop msfs 2020 runs 190/180fps on ultra settings with dlss quality and framegen but with msfs 2024 90fps average This game optimazition is a joke, most games run beautiful and high fps
Maybe start off by talking about why someone would need this? or how you might possibly see improvements.. 10 min into the video and i realize, why am i watching this
thats why i have chapters so you can watch the chapter "demo in sim" first then if you want to go through the install you will know what it can do.
don't put this garbage on your machine....
This works very well . But you have the option to not use it that is your call. I'm just showing what is available for people to utilize to get more customization in the sim and on the fly changes . Thanks for your comment
I beg to differ. On my 3080 12Gb I can get 144FPS in 1440p and 120FPS in 4K with DLSS 3.8.1 ..... Been using for two months when it was on Github Only.... DLSS Tweaks has been ignored for so long and this is a combination of all the benefits of Nexus Mods and the MipMap Bias is extremely useful.
