Toto Wolff's "Cross Threaded" Claim Explained

- During the 2021 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas pitted but his front right tyre couldn't come off his car. After the race, Toto Wolff claimed the wheel nut had cross threaded, so here's an explainer of what cross threading is!
At the time of making the video, Toto had said that the pit crew had cross threaded the wheel nut, which I took as the fact and based the video around that.
But since the video has been released, Mercedes have now said that the wheel gun had machined the nut removing the driving faces.
So rather than the thread being ripped to shreds, it was actually the nut itself - Apologies for getting it wrong but hopefully you've learnt a bit about cross threading 😅

Is it me, or Bottas is the one most frequently compromised by Mercedes little mistakes?
Valtteri it's James, we've given your wheelnut to Lewis, we had to glue yours onto the axle instead

call me weird but I enjoyed this race more than portugal for example, the fact that mercedes was not playing a role on the podium had me hyped all along
If Bottas didn’t have bad luck, he would have no luck at all. Hamilton has had 2 mechanical DNFs in races since the start of the 2017 season. Bottas has had at least 13. I’m sorry but I find that remarkably hard to believe that something else isn’t going on. Shame we’ll never know.
Honestly if Mercedes could stop making so many pitstop mistakes they would easily win the championship every year.

We ALL know what happened....
Such a shame for Bottas, this race would've been a great opportunity for him to try and keep up with his teammate in the championship. Now he's officially out of the running through no fault of his own.
