Man, this is solid gold! To the author Mr. GeoDelta Labs: it may seem simple enough to you to produce this content, but please know what value you're creating for the rest of us. You saved me hours of experimentation and work here, and I'm but one of 100K of your subscribers.
I have a problem at 7:06 i tried to download the images and it just showed error ( Python error: An error has occurred while executing Python code: See message log (Python Error) for more details. ) please let me know of you can help.
@@geodeltalabs Actually, this was my first question after successfully following the video. It means, better to put this information in the description. Thanks for the valuable things. Not simple things as you may say simple ones.
Great tutorial, sir! One question I have is in what resolution will the downloaded SRTM data be? I need some pretty high resolution data for my project as I will be using the hgt files to create a 3d render of that part of the world in a simulator.
Great Video! Thanks for the clarity and straight forward. Really appreciate it! Can you also describe how to generate contour lines from the downloaded DEM using QGIS? TIA
@@brendanpeck6121 I fixed mine by changing the coordinates system. You can change it by clicking in the right bottom corner between visualize and a comment icon, it's written EPSG and a number. To not get the 'handshake ssl' error you need to change the coordinate system that you have to ESPG : 4326. I hope it works for you as well!
@@nyvaarhin3731 Thank you! Now, at this point I've found a different data set that is more appropriate for my current project, but that will come in handy later!
Thanks for this video. But I am facing some problem here, whenever I go to install any plugin it does not show anything there so I have to google it and then install it from there. After installing quick map services the map is not visible on the screen please tell what can be the problem there.
@GEODelta Labs: Great Video, thanks for sharing your knowledge! I was wondering though why the osm map is distorted or compressed as soon as the coordinate reference system is 'converted' from 3857 to 4326? That way the map doesn't correspond anymore with the equivalent map you can find on Google Maps. Any ideas?
Could be a server issue. If this does not work, there are other ways of downloading the same dataset using NASA EarthData web portal as well. You can check this tutorial out: ua-cam.com/video/7LeGd6tuEr4/v-deo.html
I would like to know how if a village or a city is in the middle of two UTM zones, how two zones are applied on a single file, please make a video on this its very useful
Thanks for sharing your techniques and knowledge with us. I have a slight problem with the dowloaded DEM, as I'd like to prepare this for further use in Blender. When I open the downloaded DEM in Photoshop it looks like a masked 16bit map. Everything lower than sea level has the same value. Is there a proper way to export all the data? If that's OK, can I reach you at your email address to show you the file? Many thanks in advance!
Hi, I'm not sure whether there is an issue with your downloaded file, but unfortunately i have not used any of the downloaded DEM files in Photoshop, so I probably would not be able to comment on its behavior in PS. If you doubt the accuracy of the downloaded file through the SRTM downloader, I can recommend you another platform (which is NASA EarthData web portal) and trying to see when you download it using that, whether you end up getting the same DEM file or otherwise. (Here's a link to that tutorial showing you how to download it using NASA EarthData web portal: ua-cam.com/video/7LeGd6tuEr4/v-deo.html )
@@geodeltalabs Thanks for thinking along. It produces the same result. So it must be something related to the way Photoshop imports these kind of files. 👍

Does a plugin like this exist for LiDAR?
My question exactly
I didn't get the option for login and may be that's why I couldn't download the dem. it shows some kind of error.

I don't seem to have the SRTM downloader, is it the version or I need to get it?
It doesn't ask login and password, says download complete but layer is unavailable "layer data source could not be found"
Sir, how can I download DEM for a specific state for instance Assam only.
I can't see my data as well as I can't save it, it says "Repair Data Source", what should I do in this kind of error?

Why its not asking me login?

Why permission is denied while downloading 4 images?
Should be related to your account not being properly configured/ haven't logged in properly via QGIS when downloading
Thanks
When downloaded,how can I access
Thanks for the tutorial! Do you know how I can see the resoultion of the DEM?
In another comment, they said 30 meters, or 1arcsec.
