Still run my micca mb42x's on my smsl ad18 and my philips shp 9500s since you reviewed them. They still sound amazeballs for what I paid. Thank you, zeos, for your great content!

it is so cool that you can get this Quality at such an affordable price. There's no reason everyone shouldn't be able to listen to really good sound. Turn your friends on to good sound! Improve their life!!! : ) Go Z!
I have around 20K+ in home theater speakers in the theater and the modded Micca MB42x's are still setup in the living room, for TV viewing, atop stands that cost more than double what they did. It's good to see Micca is still churning out amazing products, regardless of price.
My pair just arrived and the MB42X G2's are great for 100 and are more laid back open sounding than the rb42 but the mb42x g2's are missing that midrange forwardness and "depth" in vocals that rb42s have especially with a HPF. I’d lean towards the powered swan OS-10's especially if you don't already have an amplifier, its 150 compared to the mb42x g2’s but OS-10's are much louder and a bit "spicier". After trying all 3 the Rb42 are my pick, hope this helped someone. Using a sub and RSL IA255.1 Amp with (90hz HPF). I listen Near field on a "deeper" desk.
Interesting. I have two sets of Micca MB42x speakers I bought years ago. I don't use them very often anymore, but every time I do, I am still impressed by how awesome they sound when set up right. They sound better than some speakers that cost MUCH More than they did. If these new ones are even better, they should be fantastic for a lover of audio on a budget.
I have pair of Micca M-8C 8 Inch in-Ceiling Speakers in my RV hooked up to a Dared V-16 tube amp 13 watts per channel...people are blown away when they hear it.... Micca speakers rock...
Wouldn't sound the same...these are sort of based on the classic realistic minimus 7...minimal crossover and the small size let's you make the box inert to resonant frequencys cheap. Like a brick.
I had a hundred bucks to throw away, so I ended up ordering these without expecting a whole hell of lot. They're unreal, especially considering how small they are -- and cheap! Maybe I'm just partial to rear-ported speakers, but if I had to choose between these or the larger, more expensive Elac Debut B6.2s, for example, I'd actually choose these.
@@ericanderson7059 mine pair is very good, for that small speaker they sound absoulutely gourgeous. I forget myself in music right away. Next one song effect is there. With subwoofer they CAN be used for média... First video im listening is this review again :-D...
Been rolling with the MB42X ever since you recommended them years ago with the Micca Origain and FX audio 6. Will finally be upgrading the dac and amp after 7 years
Ordered. This video was a perfect recommendation on my homepage. These speakers are the #2 best seller in bookshelf speakers on Amazon for only $100. It’s a steal. This’ll be my first speaker purchase so I bought the Fosi Audio BT20A AMP that’s a #2 best seller on Amazon for $48 (with the current 40% off coupon on Amazon). What an amazing money-saving combo. It’s exactly what I needed. Nearly gave up on quality speakers because they’re quite the investment. Can’t wait!
Wow. Even with UA-cam compression, as soon as they kicked in at the 7:48 mark I was like, "Whoa..." You can just tell there's something special going on with those, and it comes right through with the sound in this video. I'm sure the in-room soundstage and imaging sounds incredible.
Paired mine with 2 AO7 maxs'. They definitely became more lively with the extra power. Added an su-11 and a wiim mini for a cheep bedroom set up. Bought everthing on sale. Just under 350 all in. Couldnt be happier.
Listening to the review through a pair of Micca mb42x-c in vertical orientation. The mb42x-g2 sounded great through their older cousins. I really hope Micca releases a g2 version of the center speaker so I can try a pair of those.
I have a pair of Pyle PSMSP6’s that look very similar to these. I feel that with Micca using a smaller mid-speaker they can encapsulate more up the higher frequencies a larger one would miss out on. I have even considered getting smaller bookshelves for this reason
Zeos - Next time you speak to Micca, float the idea of them building a tower speaker using the components from the G2. They could use 2,3, or even 4 of these same woofers, and tune the crossover to a similar response curve. That would be an awesome speaker! I hope they make a G2 center channel speaker too. I have a small home theater project coming up for a friend, and I think I'll use these G2 speakers in it. Seven of these along with a good sub should make a very respectable budget theater system.
If you are using a subwoofer, these little speakers have a big advantage with soundstage and imaging. The closer acoustic centers and light weight of the 4 inch driver and the smaller tweeter. The voice coils on these little speakers are probably going to get pretty hot with loud music after a while unless you are doing bass management. So yeah, these little speakers on a receiver with a sub would be a really decent system.
Haha! I still enjoy my mb42x's you helped me pick out and I often think about that portable setup you created, I call DIBS on it if you give it away. 😏
got a pair for 75$. haven't bought an audio product in two years, but instantly knew where to come when i got the living space for speakers. Keep it real u glorious weeb
I agree with you! I've also been a Micca fan for some time. The original MB-42xs were a bit bright, the RB-42s are a bit warm. These are excellent! I have the RBs, but I like these better. Incredible that Micca can make a $99 speaker that is this good. And yes, I want Micca to make larger speakers.
Make video with the cheapest setup possible, cheap amp, maybe cheap DAC and these speakers and switch between cheap and expensive setup so all your claims on these speakers shine
Zeos you should consider reviewing the B&W M1's. After trying many different speakers on my desks, the B&W M1s are by far my favorite. They are all aluminum and have a tiny foot print. They were pricey at $300each but well worth it. I have them paired with a 12" subwoofer setup I designed and built.
I'm still using a set of the cheapest micca speakers you recommended on reddit ~8 years ago as my PC speakers with some $20 amazon amp you recommended back then. Maybe it's time for an upgrade...
Interested to see how these compare to the JBL 306P MKII. Probably will grab a pair just to side by side. 305Ps may be the more fair comparison though.

I've got a pair of Polk Audio TSi100's for similar reasons; cheap sleepers that sound good, mainly for listening to classical and 1960-1990 vinyl with a cheap little shitty polk sub that probably belongs in the trash (PSW 10) and they've been amazing. I got probably the last pair of Heco Aurora 300's available in the US, because they were the darling of the budget audio reviewers but was was disappointed and sent them back; I think I prefer an extremely neutral sound. I will add...one thing I DON'T like about the RB is that it doesn't handle volume well, the woofer tends to hit it's limits way too early. These will play considerably louder than the RBs and handle it in stride.
Thanks for this review, as I am on a budget and value for money is really important to me, but I still want great sound. How do you think these would compare to Polk ES15's?

wonder how these would go with a Fosi za3? Currently torn between the t1encore plus or a passive setup
they work nicely with za3. thats what im currently running with them, and its plenty of power for my desktop setup, loud clean quality, plus also za3 allows you run an active subwoofer if youd like which is a nice upgrade
sadly we dont have those in europe.
how can i get them? Or what do i buy instead for the same budget?
I assume you don't know anyone in the U.S.? If so they could send them to you.
