People forgot she lived her entire life in Korea except when she was born, that's it. So ofc she's going to be more used to Korean food than western food. Maybe it's the blonde hair that makes her western features more prominent because when she has darker hair she looks more Asian to most, that's why she told us in an interview she had avoided dying her hair brighter for the longest time and has always dyed her natural light brown (Almost Ginger) black since she's like 7
I don't think her hair has anything to do with her looking more western because many other idols also dye their hair but they don't look western

Tbh I don’t know why some ppl dislike/hate her. She’s got a good relationship with her backup dancers and almost all the people around her. They seem to genuinely love her presence and care for her. That alone speaks a lot about somi’s character and personality. She seem to be easy going and authentic.

I know the hosts mean to be complimenting her taste, but as a mixed race person myself I feel a little bad that she always has to explain that she likes Korean things. "You look like you like pasta" really just sounds like "I perceive you as a foreigner". She is Korean!
She's laughing now, but she must be tired of explaining herself. She didn't want to go blonde at first because she didn't want to be seen as a foreigner, she used to want to look more Korean growing up because she was bullied for being a "mutt" (her words). It's possible to embrace someone's dual heritage without othering them.

Am I dumb, or have I always thought Somi grew up in Canada?? Ok I did some research and she moved to Korea at the age of 1, so yea she was raised in Korea, not born in Korea, she was born in Canada, also, I dont get why people are worked up about people thinking she likes pasta lol, I dont see it as an offence or anything cause at first I also thought Somi likes Western food than Korean food, like me, im Cambodian, people expect me to like Cambodian food, but honestly, I like Eastern Asia cuisine and western cuisine, so I dont see a problem with people thinking Somi likes pasta
