Im wondering what drove micheal back to drugs....I mean, the amount of hate he was getting post release must have had an effect. Im also wondering wether he was unable to move on after his release due to this hate. Just watched the new documentary and it just makes everything seem so sad and such a waste.

It wasn't the hate, it was Michael had an addiction & unfortunately he didn't receive help for that addiction. Going to prison doesn't just cure somebody. There are plenty of drugs inside & even if he was stone cold sober throughout his entire sentence, it doesn't stop the addiction.

If you can’t quit cold just moderate it. He was a star, he was celebrated, and then he was just a regular person nobody even thought about. He was too weak to make himself over in a positive way, so he slid back into drugs. Took the easy way out to make him feel better.
Let's be honest. Michael died a long time ago. Pretty much the day Angel died. Then he died again when he mutilated Angels body. Then again when he was imprisoned for that crime that he never fully understood.
The words make pretty sentences, but you can’t use them with such certainty. I’m sure he understood the crime he pled guilty to, and had years in prison to contemplate.
RIP I hope your tortured soul can finally be at peace. I can't count how many of my friends I've lost to drugs or related issues. You love them so much,there like your family but when you're going in completely different direction than them there is only so much you can do. You have to separate your self or they end up trying to bring you into that BS whether there trying to our not, it's there addiction. In the beginning you try and save them,give them money, housing, try and get them treatment. There is a point when you have step back because no matter what you do to help they lie and steel from you, you can't fix them they need to fix them self's then go from there. No one truly understand unless you have been in that situation. You only see glimpses of who they really are and the rest of the time it's this thing that is wearing your friend or family members skin.
I know the dark places drugs brought me when I was active and I can see what it does to people .. it completely changes who you are and the scary thing is it becomes so normal to you, you really can't see what everyone else does. I became fascinated with the book/movie/case in my teens for some reason. At the end of the day these people just weren't in their right might. I refuse to believe Alig was some monster tho. :/ Idk.

I live in a city where our DA is doing so (San Francisco) and those criminals are now murdering innocent people. So I disagree with restorative justice. Although perhaps drug longterm rehab for his obvious addiction would have been much better seeing as that was the real problem after all, and Michael clearly wasn’t going to be a lifelong criminal as it was a one time self defense drug fueled incident

the thing about heroin addicts especially long term hard 1s like I was for 20 yrs is when u get ur shit together n im goin on 4 yrs I smoke weed but it's extremely hard staying clean cuz even with sober time when it's cold out u feel it more ur body n mind aren't the same ur always cold n uncomfortable so if ur not a strong person most ppl just end up like Michael I refuse to go back I rather b cold n uncomfortable n sleep still instead of that 25/8 days a week of hurting cuz its never enough even if ur have $ u go broke

He could have had undiagnosed autism or adhd he acted out of control all his life without fearing consequences. He was very childlike.

the thing about heroin addicts especially long term hard 1s like I was for 20 yrs is when u get ur shit together n im goin on 4 yrs I smoke weed but it's extremely hard staying clean cuz even with sober time when it's cold out u feel it more ur body n mind aren't the same ur always cold n uncomfortable so if ur not a strong person most ppl just end up like Michael I refuse to go back I rather b cold n uncomfortable n sleep still instead of that 25/8 days a week of hurting cuz its never enough even if ur have $ u go broke
