You have to try Tone Boosters Pro Equalizer. It is probably one of the most power equalizers to ever be made. Also their Compressor on the punch setting has the lowest distortion of any digital compressor, coming in at -3 db. Just for context the pro-C2 cleanest function is -30!
Congrats on another great video, I enjoy these awards series a lot! My favorite EQs are: Vocals: - Softube Empirical Labs Lil FrEQ - more often as deesser - Antares Auto-Tune Vocal EQ or Nectar 4 EQ - to ride bad frequencies Utility: - Wavesfactory TrackSpacer - for side chain ducking - Eiosis AirEQ - for guided sound shaping - Eventide Split EQ - for transient shaping Master: - Tone Projects Michelangelo - for coloration - TDR Special Filters Bundle - to inject some sub frequencies and to control the high end - TDR Nova - to tame the high end - TDR SlickEQ - to deresonate - Soundtheory Gullfoss - to recover buried frequencies
I need to dig into slick eq. I bought em all and that one never made it into regular rotation for me. auto deresonate and dynamic eq in Nova is in EVERY project though for years now
Wow, no Fabfilter Pro-Q3? I don't like most of Fabfilter's plugins, because they are too "busy." There are way too many parameters, and many times they are necessary. That said, I SWEAR by the Pro-Q3. I can't live without it. 🙂
TDR Nova - even the non-GE version is powerful enough for what it does. Toneboosters Equalizer Pro might be the biggest thing right now with support for multi-channel audio amongst other things.
I stood up and clapped for Michelangelo, Split EQ & the new HG-Q. Good stuff, David. Honourable mentions: - LISA - (Plugin Alliance-Tomo Audiolabs) - Soma - (Plugin Alliance-Knif Audio) - Harris Doyle Natalus DSCEQ (Plugin Alliance) - Green 5 EQ series (Acustica Audio) - EQ1 - (Softube)
nice, you have good taste in plugins, some of these are outside of my price range but i do have the summit audio one and yea its really smooth, like buttery sharpness
Great selection, there's always some surprise in your awards, this time it was the Vitalizer lol... One of the EQs included in Acustica Coffee is a sampled Curve Bender, it sounds very nice.
AA's Erin is a scary looking interface boy! It reminds me of The Predator's alien tech for some reason. I feel to cover myself in mud so it won't kill me!! 😆
the softube summit EQ is a Drive Me !!! EQ - go loud in and add gain, u need a volume knob afterwards! one of the best distortions out there also good distortion has the Arturia Spring 636 (sry off topic)
awsome video as always! but the youtube feature "stable volume" its ruining the audio and mixing comunity, would be cool if you do some video about that!
The various EQ plug-ins I've got are: SSL X-DynEQ, for correction Color and some shaping EQ goes to UAD Manley Massive Passive, UAD Pultec bundle, Pulsar Audio 8200 and W495 that I'd gotten free, TRD Nova using these a lot Another that I have with my SSL Slate Complete, but not tried much yet is the Slate Digital Eiosis Air EQ.
I'd be interested in your opinion of the Blackbox HG-Q vs your Drawmer 1971. How does the digital compare to the analog gear for adding color/saturation to the EQ process?
@@mixbustv Absolutely...BTW...I cannot express just how much joy you spread to the music community thru your videos! That's a rare quality when expressing technical information and expertise. Stay Blessed and keep grinding!
How does SoundRadix Surfer EQ compare to Vocal EQ? I think SoundRadix were the first or one of the first to come up with the tracking feature on an EQ.
Digital EQ - Toneboosters Sweetening EQ - UAD Massive Passive Most used - Console 1 (SSL4000 - most flexible, Summit - sweetening, Tubetech - that Pultec thing, API - punch)
All great picks. I'd throw the Sontec by Metric Halo in there. Such an amazing analog sounding emulation. I haven't heard a digital EQ that sounds so much like the original hardware to date.
And you're one of those people who sits here watching FREE videos bitching about things. There's hundreds of mixing and mastering videos,, and even full courses for members but let me guess, you ain't gonna pay right? So, I"m not sure I care what you think lol

Yep! Equalizer Pro by ToneBoosters is the new gold standard!
^^^^ this. Surpassed FF for sure
@@vicneve1169 yes so much so, also the Multiband compressor allows me to add non phase destructive bands. Like 10 sometimes.
@@TomTaylorMade frfr, I have even boosted reverb for character and used the ambiance band to clean it up afterwards and it was such a clean sound
@@bennetjackson8928 I will give that one a try 🙂

What about Equalizer Pro from ToneBooster ?
Yes!
That replaced split eq for me since it can do what Split Eq does and much more.
@@jackschneiderman1464 what can it do more than split eq?
@@BFHPET proximity EQ, dynamic eq and way less latency.
Absolutely. How do you have a best 2024 eq list without it?
Thanks so much for including the 6020, David! 😁
Thanks for these type of videos. Your experience is impressive and appreciated!
Looks like I woke up in a parallel universe where David shows a Plugin Alliance product 🤯
😂
Shocked would be an understatement for me.

Some great ones. Thx man! Split EQ is still great.
AA’s Erin is definitely a nice EQ. My EQ list is of course Pro Q3, SSL EQx, UAD Pultec EPQ1, of course Gullfoss, and Sonible Smart EQ4
nice, you have good taste in plugins, some of these are outside of my price range but i do have the summit audio one and yea its really smooth, like buttery sharpness
Miglior canale UA-cam per il mixing. Best UA-cam channel for mixing.
Demoing the blackbox, and damn, is impressive for both mix and master.
The Core Mixing Suite for Console One, and the Vintage EQ sounds great too
Softube can't do wrong
Smart EQ all day long, I have the whole Sonible collection, so useful. I'm a big fan of the TOMO Lisa , surprised I don't see more people using it.
Sonible's automatic tonal contouring seems to me preferable to many others.
Great selection, there's always some surprise in your awards, this time it was the Vitalizer lol... One of the EQs included in Acustica Coffee is a sampled Curve Bender, it sounds very nice.
Equivocate by newfangled audio is amazing too

I would love to see how you use Erin. I never really got the grasp of it...its been sitting in my attic for a years. lol
UAD Hitsville. Underrated.
Great selection, a lot I have to consider breaking the bank for. 😅
DMG Equality. Great sounding eq
ooh, the summit. the top end on that thing is silk.
Console 1:
Softube American Class A
Softube Chandler Bender
FabFilter Pro-Q 3
AMEK EQ 200

Black Box HG-Q, Three Body Kirchhoff EQ, Maag EQ , classic Pultec
Haven't tried the HG-Q yet, looks great though. Is the Kirchhoff that different from Pro-Q3?
Really curious what the Krieger meines Kampfs is.
I'd be interested in your opinion of the Blackbox HG-Q vs your Drawmer 1971. How does the digital compare to the analog gear for adding color/saturation to the EQ process?
Granted that HG-Q simulate tube saturation while the 1971 is FET, hardware sounds better. I'm sure you'd expect this answer.
@@mixbustv Absolutely...BTW...I cannot express just how much joy you spread to the music community thru your videos! That's a rare quality when expressing technical information and expertise. Stay Blessed and keep grinding!
Tape A is a hack, I like that plugin a lot 🔥
How does SoundRadix Surfer EQ compare to Vocal EQ? I think SoundRadix were the first or one of the first to come up with the tracking feature on an EQ.
Agreed, the first eq to track notes. I think it's a monster on sparse tracks
Type A... interesting. Is it comparable to dopamine? Just a thought to ponder
