So, when an uncle adopts kids but is still their uncle it typically means the kids were his nephews to begin with but the parents can't care for them anymore for whatever reason. So the uncle became the legal guardian while still being biologically an uncle. They might call him Mr Nook because their parents were strict & said to call every adult but them Mr/Ms LastName. Some parents teach you to do that even to relatives.

i could be wrong but i’ve always assumed that tom nook cares for timmy and tommy and fostered them from their orphanage. in a previous game tom said he visited his local orphanage and donated there so i always guessed that’s where timmy and tommy are from

I miss the cute island-y music that they would play when you originally started your island. It feels a lot less repetitive than the hourly music that they play after you set up your island fully.
