As a Christian myself, I am beyond happy you are starting your walk with the Lord. I just want to make sure you understand that it is more than just reading the Bible though. Yes, reading the Word is one of the most important things that you can do, but it is more than just that. Here are a few things that I just want to make sure you understand (and I pray you already do)
- Christianity is a relationship not a religion (meaning do you know where you are going for sure, if you were to die today, where would you be going? How do you know for sure? Have you confessed your sins to the Lord and admitted that you fall short to the glory of God? Reading the Bible like you do and praying is a great way to build your relationship with Him)
- Don't be lukewarm (meaning you have to be all in, fully focusing on your relationship with the Lord. You aren't living with one foot stuck in the world and on stuck in your faith. You may get hate, and it may be hard. but just remember, the Bible never said it would be easy, and it also said that the world will react negatively when you share about your faith, and that God rewards the faithful. Don't be the type of people that goes to church on Sunday and think that they are good for the week)
- (This is more advice) if you are not going to church, start. BUT you want to be careful. A lot of churches can be deceiving. Make sure that they teach DIRECTLY from the Bible, and aren't adding their own principals, politics, or opinions to the Bible. This type of church is considered non denominational. Get involved with said church. Go to events, volunteer, get connected with people your age. if you cannot find one, stream. there are plenty of churches that you can livestream on Sunday. Search up Calvery Chapel Chester Springs (my church and it checks everything off the list and then some)
- (Same with this one) Find a good group of people who share the faith. Start a Bible study, do the podcast, God will make a way if it is in His plan for you. I mean you never know because His plan is ALWAYS better. look at Jeremiah 29:11 it's my favorite verse and it is a great reminder.
- Cut out secular music and replace it with Godly worship/praise music. Trust me, please. If you ever do your research, the secular artists openly participate in worshiping the devil, curse, encorage sex, and much more. It is not a fun place to be Especially as a Christian looking at the lyrics, the Spirit will really convict you if you sit down and pay attention to what you are feeding your mind with. Garbage in garbage out. that is what my mom has always told me, and I completely agree with this. Most of the time it is a direct reflection of your heart. If you are feeding your mind with evil unholy things, you will start to act this way. I found when I stopped listening, my attitude was better, my faith improved, and overall everything was better.
Once again I am so happy that you shared your faith with the world. I hope these things help, and I am praying for you to continue to dig deep in the world and grow not only as a couple but with God.
