The Grundig Satellit 800 was my first higher priced radio. It has worked well for years, but I admit I don't use it very much as my Yaesu HF radios do a better job. It's not fair to compare a $500 radio with a $4,000 radio, but for a "portable" tabletop radio Satellit 800 does a good job.
KM6PQY-my wife and I are moving to AZ in a little over a year where I will finally be able to raise an antenna. One of these radios is on my bucket list. Be nice to win one and have it when we move.
Prices change. Internet videos do not. If the price goes up, we get complaints ("You said the price was $X, now it's $Y!"). If the price goes down, yes, still get complaints ("You should update the video!" - something we cannot do). Ham Radio Outlet does not advertise prices because they change. Manufacturers offer coupons and rebates, or adjust their pricing to HRO, all of which change the customer's final purchase price. We provide direct links to the product on our website, which includes the price the customer will pay if they place an order from that link.
FET/MOSFET Front end, by chance?? I owned a Motorola Two-Way Comm dealership from 1977 thru 2017, and Sangean's would come in after connecting an external antenna. I became so ticked' at replacing those ESD Damaged components, tthat I started installing transient suppression/static dissipation circuitry, (also inductive coupling).
I had the original Satellit which, I'm afraid, was a real dog. It would go into self oscillation at times, the display generated all kinds of noise and the rubbery coating got sticky after a while. I hope the latest iteration has addressed those issues.
If in doubt, follow the product link in the description: Eton Elite Field: hro.net/d0p4ZFhMUDY. As stated there and in the video... AM and FM, no SSB. The Eton Elite Satellit does SSB. Link to that is in the description. 🙂
Don't forget... you MUST be subscribed to the HRO Facebook **and** HRO UA-cam channels, **and** you have to put your callsign here and on this same video on Facebook to enter!
I'm new to ham radios. They suggest having one is a SHTF situation. What is recommended for first timer. I guess you must get training to operate it and then whomever you want (Family member) to communicate with in a situation must get training as well?
You need to study for the license test, then pass the test and apply for the ham radio license at the FCC website. Having a SHTF radio is a good idea, but unless you have a communications plan, your family/friends won't know where, or when, or how to listen for your signal. If you think a cheap 2-way handheld ham radio will reach more than about 5 miles, think again! If you want to communicate across the state/country/world, you're going to need an HF radio, power supply (batteries/solar panels/solar charge controller etc etc), and a suitable antenna... as will everyone you want to communicate with. And a comms plan! www.hamradio.com can help.
I have the grundig 750 I use the RCA jacks hook it up to my stereo sound ,10 times better hook it up to my maypole antenna the reciver was just about as good as my yaesu ft950 kc6nfv

@@HamRadioOutlet Arçelik A. Ş. is a Turkish multinational household appliances manufacturer which owns Beko, Grundig and Indesit. The Grundig name is owned by that entity. Eton has no authority to use the Grundig name. The last radio you displayed is manufactured by Tecsun. Known under that name as S2000.
@@HamRadioOutlet I have to make a correction. Eton Corp has a licence from Koc (who own Arcelik A S) to use the Grundig name. However Another Eton says it has reduced costs by contracting production to offshore firms. "They are very reliable, and provide high-quality products," said Hozour. Namely Tecsun.
