Just ordered my resmed airsense 11. I’ve been watching for a few months and purchased the wellvue 02 ring based on your recommendation and I must say, you may well have saved my life. I found my o2 was dropping down to mid 70s and heart rate low 30s. I then ordered an at home sleep study and found I have severe apnea. I was a life long smoker but quit 8 years ago. Ended up with COPD. Went to Hawaii by and up the mountain where I got cerebral hypoxia. Taken down via ambulance. Got Covid as soon as I got home. Non vaccinated. Have had issues with breathing since. But since finding your channel, I’ve taken back control of my life. As much as I can, at least. So thank you, for all your doing. Your funny, calm, intelligent delivery of information if easily and readily understandable. I’m so grateful for the hope I feel now. I’m excited to see what will come
Follow up. Got my machine. Used it last night. It’s definitely a learning curve by my drops went from 88 an hour to 2 😳2😳 my oxygen never dipped below 88. Huge improvement. I’m so grateful and excited for the future
Thank you so much for everything you do for the community. I learn so much every time you upload a video and you teach so well that it’s easy to understand. @@CPAPReviewswhy couldn’t I tolerate a CPAP because even when just putting it on before I could get to sleep at a pressure of 4, I felt like I was on a ventilator. I never could seem to breathe naturally. I had a hard time falling asleep and when I did it was only for 2 hours. I don’t think the pressure ever went over 8 for those two hours before I woke up. It was during Covid so very little Dr to patient time. After 30 days and only using it a couple hours a night I had to get some sleep and returned while still in the trial. Any ideas I am getting ready after 4 years to try a different Dr and hopefully find something I can tolerate. I think it was set 4-16. Other then that don’t know much about it. It was a ResMed 10.
Excellent video. Very fortuitous as I just saw my sleep NP yesterday. I requested thst we increase low pressure from 10 to 12 based on average of 12. Now I'm going to look at high pressure range which they set at 20. I get leaks throughout the night, water runs out every night, and I'm waking up. Cant wait! Thank you so much for all you do for our community!
This is a very informative video, I did a 2 month experiment with using Philips CPAP machine after finding out from a sleep test level 1. I'm having 30ish apnea episodes per hour in the night, but unfortunately the experience i had wasn't great. I kept waking up with pressure building in the night and within 1-2 weeks developed a subconscious habit of removing the mask in my sleep. I almost decided to not use CPAP anymore but thanks to my doctor I've reconsidered it and now I plan on buying my first CPAP machine. Still a bit confused between Resmed 10 & 11 to be honest, heard a worrying things about issues with 11. But once again huge thanks to give information like this which shows companies aren't perfects and we need to adjust devices to our needs. Will be watching quite few of your videos as i need to still learn alot being new into this CPAP and Apnea learning curve. Thank again
Excellent. Thank you. Over the last year I slowly lowered the upper pressure until flat spots showed on the graph and it improved ahi. Didn't think of increasing lower pressure but now I will. And Sleep HQ Pro is well worth the cost. Thanks to everyone at Sleep HQ.
Hi Ken, thanks very much for the SleepHQ endorsement. Yes the pressure min is just as important. The pressure max limit is important to reduce cpap side effects and the pressure min limit is important for sleep and breathing quality (airway support!). Cheers
Thank you for the scientific analysis of CPAP pressure. Do you think that different masks play a role in the calculation of pressure? I very often use different masks and I constantly adjust the pressure. For N30i I set the pressure 8-15 but for F&P solo to 6-10. So sometimes the overall statistics pressure is skewed.
Great video. I have been using my cpap for 3 weeks now. I am having problems with mask leak in the very early mornings when I use my Dreamwear full face mask. Now I know why. Lots of noise and high pressure. It wakes me and my wife up. I know my max pressure is set to 17. I will try lowering it.
Hi mate thanks for the video, going to give this a shot! Just wondering whether the APAP algorithm used in the video was set to standard or "soft" and what your thoughts are on which to use for figuring out the best APAP window. At the moment im inclined to use soft. Thanks from a fellow Aussie!
Hey buddy, the response was 'standard' in this example. You won't see sharp pressure jumps with the 'soft' response however it's less 'sensitive' and will provide less apnea control. Hey you should do a week with soft and then a week with standard and generate a detailed report! Cheers

If its not one thing its another, so still tired. The information you provided not only makes sense it is supported by solid data. 👍If adjusting the min and max air pressure is if advisable to also switch on the EPR? Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! One thing i forgot to mention is if your pressure min is high (ie above 10cm) and you find it difficult falling off to sleep at that pressure, you can set a ramp that starts at a lower pressure and gradually builds up to the pressure min over a set time frame (ie 20-30 min etc). Cheers

just did a sleep study and got an AHI of 66.2/hr, Supine AHI 79.6/hr, REM AHI 65.3/hr. Not too sure how severe these numbers are compared to others but they recommended APAP therapy. Beginner question, which machine do you recommend and should i choose CPAP over APAP? Been hearing a lot about APAP issues on the internet.
Struggling with my CPAP I just can't get a full nights sleep I usually wake up a couple times a night. They have changed my settings 2 or 3 times and it just isn't working. During my sleep study I had 88 events per hour and my O2 levels dropped to 80% before they hooked me up so I am just so nervous about changing anything on my machine. Hey buddy, these principals are for Auto CPAP devices no ASV devices. I would encourage people with ASV and Bilevel devices to consult with healthcare professionals when changing settings. if the airway is collapsing (OSA events) you'd increase your EPAP min/max settings gradually higher but remember there needs to be adequate pressure support so the ASV algorithm can adapt to changing ventilation needs.
Another top notch video @CPAPReviews 🎉 do you do any consultations like LankyLefty if someone was wanting you to take a deep dive into their CPAP data?

Completely new to this and just made a sleep hq account. I have a dream station but I am wondering, how do you get this data? I have yet to be able to fall asleep with the machine yet. Have tried 4-5 separate nights and I just ended up laying there half paralyzed for 2-4 hours each time before I took it off and slept without it. Trying to find whats gonna make me comfortable and allow me to fall asleep. What should I do and how do I share info from my dream station? thanks
Hey bro, importing your SD card data is pretty simple. This is how to import ResMed data and the same principles apply (just choose the dreamstation as your device in step 1). - ua-cam.com/video/NwodcKyYpJY/v-deo.html . I don't know if you'll find anything in the charts that will help you fall asleep mate. I'd experiment with pressure relief (A-flex) for breathing comfort and perhaps experiment with your starting pressure. (some people experience a suffocation feeling at lower starting pressures). The mask is also important so if you're not having much luck with your current mask it might be worth trying a few other models. Good luck buddy! Perseverance is the key so stick with it but if you haven't fallen asleep in an hour, take the mask off and get some rest (even sleep apnea sleep is better than no sleep at all) Cheers
Hi, I have a air mini. Is there away I can retrieve the data from the cloud? Or is it best to look at the limited data on the Airmini app? This is my first machine that is my own. Have been using a S9 for years.
haha old mate gramps and his obsession with CPAP mode . I don't agree with that. Sleep apnea is a dynamic condition that requires dynamic therapy. It's like using a sledgehammer to open a walnut
Sorry, for my english, don't get the message. Do you recommend to higher the min pressure to get better results/comfort? Second, this is a apap, no cpap device, right? if not, the pressure would always be at one/same level? Thanks
Your english is better than mine! A higher pressure min is more breathing/airway support. lowering the pressure max will often help with comfort (less side effects/leak problems etc). Yes this advice is for APAP. Cheers
I have a BMC machine will it work on the website. Your channel may just save me as Ibeen on cpap for 7 months now and still feel like I'm just waiting to die, unfortunately
Interesting info but am puzzled as my machine is set for CPAP, set to start at 4 PSI and ramp up to 8 PSI. I set 4 psi min pressure while max pressure is supposedly set by my sleep doctor (at 8 ps) - is there another CPAP max pressure? i I am a nasal breather who uses a chin strap but refuses to tape his mouth shut (cough/throat clear/ etc bad news if mouth is shut). What can I fine tune in this case? I wish some mfr would make a mouth __cover__ that restricts mouth air flow but will allow fast removal or will blow off from a violent couth.
Being a Taylor guitar owner and collector the only thing I'm staring at is the extra set of 3 holes below the guiitar hook where he tried to hang it the first time.
You might have it set on S mode which doesn’t collect the air limitation data as the pressure doesn’t change. You might need to change to the v auto mode to get the full data.
That’s right! He also changed his EPR to 3. While EPR (Expiratory Pressure Relief) is often called a 'comfort setting' to make exhaling easier, it can actually have a significant impact on your therapy results-sometimes in a big way. Try spending a week with EPR turned off, then switching it on for the following week. Afterwards, use SleepHQ to generate a detailed report and compare the two weeks. You’ll likely notice some big differences in your data (possibly good, possibly bad! It's an enigma). Cheers!
Hey mate, it was li. 1. Sometimes turning on EPR can improve the flow limitation trace (not really sure why this is though but i have a few theories) and 2. It can sometimes improve mask leak because of the exhalation pressure drop inside the mask. Check out that vid i did on EPR - ua-cam.com/video/GaXA0ZIWj1Y/v-deo.htmlsi=2bLdF6A1kqqHPf4h
@@CPAPReviews thanks. I have seen videos saying the Resmed machine takes too long to get back to IPAP number after the EPR drop. You are correct that it may not be for everyone.
this is true which is why it normally reduces apnea treatment when you switch it on however because EPAP stays low for the whole expiratory phase when it eventually does shoot back up during inhalation the air moves very fast and i think this might be what improves the flow limitation trace but it's only a theory i have. Cheers
I wake up at 2am every night, and sometimes when I try to go back to sleep it feels like my breathing is out sync with the machine! I can’t slow my breathing down.I’m breathing faster and harder!
Hey buddy, optimizing your pressure range will help with this and you might also like to explore using the RAMP feature. You're likely waking up just after a REM Sleep block (when the pressure is highest) Setting a RAMP period of maybe 15-20 minutes at a lower pressure can help you get back sleep at a lower, more comfortable pressure. Cheers
@@CPAPReviews i have a sleep doctor, who reviews my data. I told them about it and they ramped up my pressure it made my sleep episodes worse than before. I average about 1.5 to 2 events per hour a night. Reamed 11 I think it might be just habit now, I've been doing this for years. I may try changing up my sleep routine.

Your english is better than mine! A higher pressure min is more breathing/airway support. lowering the pressure max will often help with comfort (less side effects/leak problems etc). Yes this advice is for APAP. Cheers
What about us with Resmed 10 without SD cards? How can I get to the data?
Hi there, unfortunately the only way to view detailed CPAP information is with an SD card. This is the only place that it is stored. Cheers
I have a BMC machine will it work on the website. Your channel may just save me as Ibeen on cpap for 7 months now and still feel like I'm just waiting to die, unfortunately
Hey buddy, unfortunately not but we will be working on the integration with BMC in 2025. Good luck bro. Nicko
@CPAPReviews Thank you for the reply appreciate it great news 😊
Why did he turn epr so high if the new AVG min and max are sufficient?
I imagine one of the pro members suggested this in attempt to improve the flow linitation trace. Switching on EPR can sometimes help with that. Cheers
Is the Luna G3 able to connect to sleep hq?
Hi there, unfortunately it's not yet supported but we are hoping to have universal support for all the major manufactures by mid 2025. Cheers
Being a Taylor guitar owner and collector the only thing I'm staring at is the extra set of 3 holes below the guiitar hook where he tried to hang it the first time.
And I use the Guitartuna app also
my desk back then was lower buddy.
i have air curve 10 but it doesnt show air limitations is there something wrong ?
You might have it set on S mode which doesn’t collect the air limitation data as the pressure doesn’t change. You might need to change to the v auto mode to get the full data.
Did you also turn on EPR?
That’s right! He also changed his EPR to 3. While EPR (Expiratory Pressure Relief) is often called a 'comfort setting' to make exhaling easier, it can actually have a significant impact on your therapy results-sometimes in a big way. Try spending a week with EPR turned off, then switching it on for the following week. Afterwards, use SleepHQ to generate a detailed report and compare the two weeks. You’ll likely notice some big differences in your data (possibly good, possibly bad! It's an enigma). Cheers!
@@CPAPReviews thanks. I was curious what you saw in the data that made you consider turning on EPR?
Reamed 11
I think it might be just habit now, I've been doing this for years. I may try changing up my sleep routine.
Excellent video! Could you make a video like this for bilevel pressure optimization?
Cheers mate, bilevel can be a bit tricky because there a number of different bilevel devices and modes that are designed to help with different respiratory conditions. I've a special Lowenstein device coming my way shortly that has ever mode available in the one device so i'll do some demo's using that machine. Cheers
On a BiPAP machine do you view the IPAP setting as equivalent to a CPAP setting? 🤔
Can’t wait to get my thingamejig n ring to start get my shit right, been making changes for years now with shit results 🇦🇺🤙
That's great bro! Did you order the new SleepHQ O2 Ring Pro? Should be arriving very soon
Dissonant breathing 😄
Why does he need cpap if his A/H is 0.84??
That's his treated AHI. It would be higher without apap
I don't get much help here in the USA with my CPAP settings. My sleep center is a joke.
I wish I had someone here to help me. 😢
There are a lot of great forums available! CPAPtalk.com, Apneaboard.com and also our community - community.sleephq.com . There's also my CPAP Reviews facebook group - cpap.review/facebook-
Me either, no help at all. But Sleep HQ has been amazing.
This is really helpful and just what I needed. Thank you
Didn't know that you follow American baseball.
My wife has been complaining for a while about waking her up in the middle of the night sounding like Darth Vader. I think this video may really help tune my sleep and save hers. Thank you so much!!!
Good luck buddy. Cheers!
