My best friend had a 67' or 68' Firebird when they came out. My 1st new car was a 76 Cougar XR7. Thanks for Spotlighting the 67 Firebird. The center console was an option. Console was an option on the Camaro as well and could be optioned with extra gauges. The trunk on the Firebird and Camaro is very small. The car in your video didn't have a spare tire in it so it looked roomier. but the cars came with a space saving spare when new, so it didn't take up too much room.
Thanks for the video, and that was a great tribute to your father. Really makes me appreciate that both of my parents are still with me. Getting old has some perks, but it's hard having to say goodbye. In terms of stories of vehicles my parents had back in the day that I unfortunately never got to experience- my mother's first car was a candy apple red 70 or 71 Mercury Montego. Absolutely gorgeous car that we have a few pictures of. She didn't have it long before eventually trading it for a bus ticket to the other side of the country. Another early car she owned was a Boattail Riviera that was part of a crazy story involving hitchhiking (it was the 70s after all). As far as my father, he had a Pinto when he met my mother. He'd installed a Mercury Bobcat grill on it and had some Mag wheels. Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of it (or the Riviera), but there are a lot of stories from when my parents were first dating. I'll always appreciate the ways cars can bridge the generation gap, much like music, old film and movies, etc. I love going with my parents to car shows, even if we all have slightly different tastes in what our favorites are! Thanks again. It's easy to take things for granted, it really is important to let people know what they mean to you.
Bought a 67 Firebird convertible new, same colour as this one, Sprint model with a 2 speed auto transmission. Felt special and kept it for 6 years. Should have kept it forever.
There is a 2nd “catch” on the hood…it’s a safety feature to stop the hood flying open if the primary locking fails whilst driving. Most current cars have similar.
Yeah it’s totally needed my mustang had hood pins and I could still see the hood move on occasion.. because if I remember correctly it only had one catch. I lost a hood pin once no idea how unless someone stole it while it was parked
