  • Playa Piskadó is easily one of our favorite west side dive sites. There are schools of silversides, scads, white mullets and palometa as well as pods of squid and regular turtles that joyfully play with divers and snorkelers…and that’s just in the shallows!
We also saw black margate, octopus and a shameface heart crab, which was first time capture for us. There is a statute of Neptune looking out over the expansive reef that drops down to more than 100 feet and a terrific ecosystem under the cliffs to the right.
This is a fantastic location that is serviced by food vendors, showers, bathrooms and watersport rentals. If you have a car, definitely consider a drive to the west side and make Playa Piskadó a day trip.
We want to encourage more shore diving, so this video provides some guidance where the site is, how to dive it and what you may see there. If you want to skip to or review specific topics, the section timings are as follows.

The “whatever these things are” are called Seabobs. We were at that exact spot and had a guide that supplied the Seabobs. We didn’t dive but I will if I ever go back there.😊😊

Dove this site many times. Reef is really good and best between 40-55'. However, this area gets very crowded now with tour buses that bring folks to see the turtles. So, be aware if you find it hard to find a parking spot coming later.

      Hi John -
Leslie here. You are so right about the tour buses and crowds. The key is to arrive before 9:00 am. The turtles are there, but the crowds are not.
This is my personal favorite dive in Curacao. You are guaranteed to see something good on every dive.
