Hi Batocera Nation. I have found away of installing Redist files, C++, DX9 ect into the windows games which you can use to make a tutorial with. Copy the Redist files into a folder in your Windows games folder. Change the games folder extension from pc to wine. This will allow Wine to generate the folder structure in the games folder. Create the cmd file and run the game, you will not see the usual blue screen while Wine generates the structure. Wait till the game crashes or you're taken back to Batocera. Press F1 and go into the games folder and check that Wine has generated the folder structure. Rename the cmd file so it can't be used, exit and run the game to get you into a file manager. Navigate to where the Redist files are located and install each one. If you've done everything right, they should install correctly. Once done, exit by pressing Alt-F4 and then press F1. In the file manager, go to the games folder and rename the cmd to it's original name. The game should now run.

I wanted to share my observation. When installing the game for Windows (Unreal) from ISO (the game requires an external CD drive to run after installation) The game installs correctly (from 'install a new Windows game') and after building the tree for Wine it is ready to run - we are still in the Wine directory (windows installers mode) and do not close it with Alt + F4. From the Wine directory tree, find the Unreal directory and run the exe file. Because we still have access to the virtual drive where the ISO was mounted - of course, the game will start. Immediately after Alt + F4, of course, we will lose the virtual drive and Batocera does not remember where the drive is. At the next boot (after alt + F4 and starting from the 'Windows' tab) the ISO drive is missing. Can this be fixed in future versions of Batocera? Because it works in install mode - I think it would be easy to take advantage of this fact? Maybe it is worth building a new installation mode for Windows games or changing it so that remembers the physical path and mount on demand for the ISO from which it was installed? Many old games must have an ISO image that is required to run the game. I think it's worth improving. But maybe I still don't know that the solution already exists? Please give me a hint.
Very detailed. I've never installed a game from a CD or DVD in Batocera. I would have tried to copy the content of the installation CD to the Setup folder to see if it would work. If it didn't, I would have paid for it again at GOG to save me the hassle of dealing with the CD or DVD.

First off, another Great video! I have a question, what about older PC games, from the Windows 95/98 era that I still have the CD-Roms for, Can Batocera play those by chance?
Yes some will, provided you can copy everything to a folder and copy that folder to Batocera. Or, if you have the iso of the CD, uncompressed with 7zip and copy everything to Batocera.
ok, so you have some windows games in portable versions, but, where did you got them? my only way is to make myself, using Cameyo, but that i dont belive is supported by linu.
Thanks for your tutorial 😊 I have am issue about a game with exe in sub folders For example SUB1/SUB2/SUB3/EXE Do you have Amy idea how to have it working ? Many thanks 😊
Try to see if you can down the C++ setup.exe file in the same folder where you had the game. It might work, but if it doesn't, then there's nothing that you can do
Copy the necessary files into a folder in your Windows games directory. Rename all your Windows games to wine, not pc. Always use wine as the extension. Create your cmd file and run the game to create the file structure inside the games folder. After the game returns you to the menu or crashes, hit F1 and rename the cmd file so it's not used. Start the game again which will take you to the file manager. Navigate to the folder where the files needed are located and click on them to install. Once done, rename the cmd file back again, run the game. This was the only way I could find to install the needed files properly. Just remember to use wine as the extension and to run the game with the cmd file first as it will not work.

I got that message to when I tried one but continued and still worked. The message does also say to wait a few mins and it still may work, which it did.
I am having an issue where some games don't work with my Ps4 controller. The track pad works as a mouse but no other buttons work. My cheap Gen Game controller works fine but the analog sticks suck for Fps games such as Halo, which I'm really wanting to play. Can anyone help me?
please show us best settings for windows games in batocera, my crash bandicoot game is buffering and setting for the gamepads, the game sometimes only recognize the keyboard not the gamepad, unlike in ps3, ps2 and wii games has no issues at all, please help us. thank you.
With the exception of trying them in either Proton or Lutris, there's not much settings improvement that you can try. Basically having a good Batocera system is all that is required to run good Windows games in Batocera. But do experiment with Lutris vs Proton to determine which one gives you better performance.
Adding PC games is hit and miss, many work fine, and many dont. But yeah, you should be able to use a keyboard and mouse just fine I think, whether or not that particular game works through Batocera though you will have to test for yourself.
Hello, I installed the PC games perfectly, but when accessing any of them, I can't use any command, any function on the keyboard, mouse or even the joystick, I enable it in the settings but nothing happens
so I bought pool of radiance ruins of myth drannor and I wanted to try to install it in Batocera. I ripped both of the install cd's and tried going to windows install, but it will not let me switch images when it says to insert disk 2. I then tried installing the game on another pc then repacked it. When I select install it just sets up a wine filesystem for the game and boots back to the home dashboard. It doesn't install the game that way. I tried installing that repacked copy on my laptop and it easily installed in wine. Any ideas?

@@ZAPOMAGO o I doubt it, each game should be in its own folder, with .pc on the end, and you gotta create the autorun file as well, for each, so when you launch a game from within Batocera it knows where to look and what exe to launch.
Hello great video. How do i get games to run. That dont have .exe file in root folder? I tried adding path in autorun folder. Like this. CMD=App/Hodzero/WindowsNoEditor/AMDaeom/amdaeom.exe
You need to add another command. Try this. DIR=App/Hozero/WindowsNoEditor/AMDaeom CMD=amdaeom.exe Make sure that you copy the exact directory path in the "DIR=" command. It is case sensitive as well.
You need nocd from gamecopyworld. Or just get repack. Makes it so much easier. I own ms2004 but the repack made 4 discs a 10 minute job instead of messing with discs.
I'm running Batocera 37. Wine stars with the message "No error has occurred. Wine is just generation C: drive structure" and closes without opening the game. Can someone help me fixing it?
Try enabling that dxvk setting for the game. So advanced game options, scroll down to that direct x to dxvk setting and enable. If that doesnt work try Lutris instead of the default proton option.
@@fonzitheman Thanks for the tips! I tried your suggestions, but nothing works. I suspect the hardware I'm trying to run the games doesn't support Lutris or Proton (it's an old Samsung notebook with a Pentium 2020 and Intel HD 2500 graphics).
Firstly, don't use the pc extension, use the wine extension. This will allow the generation of the folder structure in the games folder. I never use the pc extension! To install Redist C++ and others, do the following. Copy all necessary files into a folder in your Windows games directory. (C++, DX.) Once you've renamed the extension, created the cmd file, run the game and let wine generate the necessary folder structure inside the games folder. Note: You will not see the usual blue screen. When the game crashes or comes up with an error, exit back into Batocera. Press F1 and check to make sure Wine has generated the folder structure inside the games folder. Next, rename the cmd file of the game so that it can't be used. Exit and start the game which should take you in to a file manager. Navigate to where the required files are and click on them to install them, and once done exit it by press Alt-F4. Press F1 to go back into the file manager and rename the cmd file back to what it was. Exit and run the game, and if all goes well it'll run. This is the only easiest way of installing them that I have found. Remember. Always use the wine extension and run the game first with the cmd file.
I assume it's just a game or two and not all your Windows games not working. If the sound in a particular Windows games is not working, it just means, unfortunately, that it's not compatible yet.
Can you or someone help me? So I got morrowind with openmw working 100% smooth, no low frame rates and was working great for about an hour maybe then everything shuts down. Now the game works great for maybe 10mins tops and my system shuts down, sometimes reboots on its own sometimes I have to use the power button to turn off. I suspect maybe it’s overheating and shutting down but i have ran games like some ps2 games that lag and won’t over heat there, just runs slow
Yeah must of been over heating. I took off my water cooler from the process and the thermal paste was pretty much none existent. Nothing a little toothpaste can’t fix when in a crunch lol. Working great now. My computer was sitting idle for about 3 years until a few months ago when i decided to turn it into batocera. It’s old but was top of the line like 8 years ago lol
Is there a way to change button configuration? You see, I have a joystick that the left analog isn´t work and I´d like to change to d-pad buttons. Do you know any solutions but get another joystick? hehehehhehhe
Just reconfigure your controller. Press start, scroll down to Controller and Bluetooth settings and then select controller mapping. When get to analog joystick controls simply follow the prompts to skip mapping for the sticks. Ofcourse many systems you will need the sticks ,since you will be only using the dpad control then you will be limiting input and some systems/games you may not be able to play at all. Suggest buy even one of those cheap knock off wired xbox360 or ps4 controllers. Might not be ideal or great quality but better than no analog sticks at all.
In Advanced System options, try different emulators (i.e. Lutris and Proton). Try turning on Dxvk on (there is an option for this). Try different combinations of the two. If after you try everything and it still doesn't work, it means that it is not compatible. Not all Windows games are going to be compatible in Batocera.
It's no different than the regular Windows games. However, AAA games often have many folders which throws things off. If the game has mostly one or two folders, it would most likely work. In addition, if there is no Proton support for the newer games, then there is not much that can be done.

Note: You must first load the game with the cmd file first!
You absolute genius thanks very much ☺️👍
Not really. The real geniuses are the Batocera Team for making such an awesome piece of software! But thanks for the compliment.
@@BatoceraNation awesome! Can’t wait to leave work and try it out! Thank you again!
ok, so you have some windows games in portable versions, but, where did you got them? my only way is to make myself, using Cameyo, but that i dont belive is supported by linu.
I got them from all over the place including GOG. There is one that I purchased at Steam but had to find a portable version to run in portable mode.
Thanks for your tutorial 😊
I have am issue about a game with exe in sub folders
For example
SUB1/SUB2/SUB3/EXE
Do you have Amy idea how to have it working ?
Many thanks 😊
Try this: CMD="folder name/name of the game.exe"
DIR=SUB1/SUB2/SUB3
CMD=game.exe
Gracias por el tutorial saludos 👍

Thanks for another great tutorial.
One game keeps asking me to install Visual C++ though, is this possible within Batocera/Wine?
Think I could get the Epic Games Store or the Ubisoft Games store to work in Wine or do I need to crack all those games.
Awesome Video! Have you ever come across an issue where an .exe file for a game is located in a subfolder within the .pc folder? racking my brains trying to get the autorun file to point to it
Have you tried writing the path to the exe in the autorun file? Within double quotes. Relative file path, so begin the pathname from wherever the autorun is located. See the part one of this video, and you'll get proper instructions.
Try this: CMD="folder name/name of the game.exe"
Thanks for the info, I actually watched another one of your videos where you did the exact process. I'm now addicted to Batocera, massive step up from Retropie
@@Psykonaut_DXM Thanks!
@@BatoceraNation Having the same problem. My example is Streets of Rage 4. The path (in windows thru SSH) is \\batocera\share

How would I write the autorun.cmd to point it to this folder?
will tekken 7 work on batocera? I am planning to build an arcade machine and use batocera as base.
another swoosh of a tutorial! 💯💯
Hello all,
I get an error message when installing a windows game. It says /userdata is formatted as fuseblk, which is might not fully supported. I guess it's because my sdd is formatted as ntfs. What are your ssd/hdd's formatted? I also use windows 10 on this ssd.
Greetings, Batocera ftw ✌
My SSD is formatted as Ntfs as well. Some games are simply not compatible with Batocera. It's a hit or miss. With each new upgrade to Batocera, more games will be compatible. Try that game again in Batocera 31 when comes out soon.
I got that message to when I tried one but continued and still worked.
The message does also say to wait a few mins and it still may work, which it did.
Hi im trying to install Pinball FX but there are 1 exe and 3 bin files, has anyone installed this ? or any tips how to install it. thanks 🤔
Quick question. How do I fix my computer getting stuck at the there is no error screen.
Thank you so much for the info, God Bless you..
Does this work with RTS games like Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge where mouse and keyboard is needed to play and not a controller?
Adding PC games is hit and miss, many work fine, and many dont.
But yeah, you should be able to use a keyboard and mouse just fine I think, whether or not that particular game works through Batocera though you will have to test for yourself.
Is there a way to add cheats to Windows Games; especially modern ones? Either through a Trainer program or Using Cheat Engine?
For some of the emulators, this is possible but not at the moment for Windows games.
Hello, I installed the PC games perfectly, but when accessing any of them, I can't use any command, any function on the keyboard, mouse or even the joystick, I enable it in the settings but nothing happens
That is , even the assignment of keys to the buttons of the gamepad does not work ? - 21:10
Press alt tab or alt f4
so I bought pool of radiance ruins of myth drannor and I wanted to try to install it in Batocera. Any ideas?
I haven't had success installing disk based games that install from 2 discs.
how did you get it to detect your controller in wine?
If the game has Xbox 360 controller support, it automatically picked it up. All those games had it. I was using an Xbox 360 controller.
hey how to import savedata windows game to batocera??
Hi...would you also make a video on how to play neo geo and fba games on batocera?
Have you seen my FBN and Mame tutorials? Wouldn't it be all covered there? Just make sure that you also copy the neogeo.zip bios file into the neogeo rom folder.
@@BatoceraNation I haven't yet seen your FBN and Neo Geo video. Thanks for the reply
The video Installing Batocera 30 will tell you where to find the Bios files including neogeo.zip.
Hi mate! Cant find any way to map the controller as keyboard for Windows games in batocera, would you help please?
Hold down either A or B button for a few seconds. Look for advanced options. Then look for PadtoKey option and select that.
Hey do you know how to force full screen windows games? I have mortal Kombat 9 Komplete playing but no matter what I change in the settings it won’t go full screen. Thanks
how did you get MK9 to play? mine just goes back to the bat title screen.
@@classicvwbugs I found a good copy somewhere online that someone custom made to work with batocera. Might have been internet archive I found it but can’t remember.
Not sure if anyone tried but Dark Souls Remastered it loads but is stuck on the bonfire loading screen. Any particular setting useful to get past this?
i have a standalone folder with several .exe files in it for different games, but they all use some of the same files (i dont know whichones) how do i set this up in windows games in batocera to be able to select which game i want to launch?
I pretty sure all games would have to be seperate, in their own folders.
you think i could extract just the EXE to make it show as a different game on the UI@@fonzitheman
@@ZAPOMAGO o
I doubt it, each game should be in its own folder, with .pc on the end, and you gotta create the autorun file as well, for each, so when you launch a game from within Batocera it knows where to look and what exe to launch.
Hello great video. How do i get games to run. That dont have .exe file in root folder? I tried adding path in autorun folder. Like this. CMD=App/Hodzero/WindowsNoEditor/AMDaeom/amdaeom.exe
You need to add another command. Try this.
DIR=App/Hozero/WindowsNoEditor/AMDaeom
CMD=amdaeom.exe
Make sure that you copy the exact directory path in the "DIR=" command. It is case sensitive as well.
@@BatoceraNation oh thank you! I will try that. Also can an .ahk be used. Some of my windows games use ahk exe. And also jconfig.exe
Unfortunately i cant get ephinea server phantasy star online blue burst to work :(
im assuming that games that performs CD drive checks will not work....is that right?
You need nocd from gamecopyworld. Or just get repack. Makes it so much easier. I own ms2004 but the repack made 4 discs a 10 minute job instead of messing with discs.
what type of control do you use to run games?
I have used a number of them including Xbox 360, several 8bit Do controllers, and Xbox One controller. The Xbox One controller is my favorite one.
question can you install windows apps?
Yes. Some of them might not work. It's a hit or miss when it comes to installing Windows apps.
Would this work for like a online like phantasy star universe clementine?
I honestly don't know. Just try it and let me know if it does.
have you tried playing red alert 2
Thank youv👑
(C++, DX.)
Once you've renamed the extension, created the cmd file, run the game and let wine generate the necessary folder structure inside the games folder.
Remember. Always use the wine extension and run the game first with the cmd file.
batocera asking me to select an application to open "application/x-ms-dos-executable type" files
Any tips on how to get the sound working if the game plays perfectly but doesn't make any sound?
I assume it's just a game or two and not all your Windows games not working. If the sound in a particular Windows games is not working, it just means, unfortunately, that it's not compatible yet.
How do you install windows games from DVD/CD ISOs?
You can't at the moment. You'll have to copy the files to your hard drive.
Can you install FIFA?
Have you tried patching games with a no-cd exe?
Hello, how do I do it if the executable is in a subfolder?
DIR=folder name
CMD=game.exe
Glad that you solved it. Didn't realize that you could use toothpaste. I learned something new.
Anyone know how to update windows games on batocera?
i cant launch needforspeed for pc and pes 2017 the game no laumch . what must ido
@@BatoceraNation please make a tutorial for AAA games windows on batocera
It's no different than the regular Windows games. However, AAA games often have many folders which throws things off. If the game has mostly one or two folders, it would most likely work. In addition, if there is no Proton support for the newer games, then there is not much that can be done.
