I have the Brookstone version of the fan except it has no temperature display. Pretty neat little fan and it actually blows a decent amount of air for what it is.
I bet it came out of the same factory, and this one with the temperature display was the "upgraded" model, available the following year. It actually does move some air, not great but certainly not bad.
Nice! Remember, that music plays 24/7. Sometimes the subliminal gets to me and I'll have a song stuck in my head for no reason, then I have to go back and check the log to see if it played, or if I really am going crazy...
I can't believe the hour will change after every 60 minutes.. What a truly remarkable feature for a clock! That's about as revolutionary as the discovery that this 6" Chinapride unit moves less air than a vintage 12" fan.. Now that the prelimaslkfjabsvjhasiudfiowueyfoaiuhsdfjkahsdf is out of the way, I have one of these, or a very similar model, somewhere.. Someone gave it to me.. I thought it may be a practical unit for the bathroom, then I'd only need 1 unit instead of 3 on the counter, but I ended up deciding against it.. Partially because it didn't come with a power supply, and I don't have a computer in the bathroom.. Partially because the unit itself isn't powerful enough to replace the fan currently in the bathroom.. And partially because the little LED light thing wasn't counter balanced and causes the thing to vibrate a fair bit, and that was unsatisfactory in my opinion.. Still a neat unit, but it's not something I have used, or probably ever will use, regularly..
Agreed, the LED display does throw it off-balance. I guess it's within China tolerances, which as we know are quite large. USB fans aren't going to move a whole lot of air, there's only so much a 5 volt motor can really do. If the fans you have in the bathroom are AC powered (I imagine they are), it doesn't really come as much of a surprise to me.
You know what? I have a fan that used to be in my dorm room, and I don't think I ever shared it before. Either I'll show it next time you're here, or I'll do a video on it.
Yeah it did sound like that indeed. Didn't really notice that actually. Do the LEDs use that much power? Umm...yeah! They're not saving you anything, especially when you call them "good enough" for light in your house! They're certainly not "not getting hot" as we well know... USB devices are supposed to pull no more than 500ma from a USB port. Whether or not this follows that specification I don't know, but I'd imagine it would. When you're trying to drive a motor as big as this has off a paltry 5v 500ma connection, if you add additional stuff to it, I'd imagine it would drag it down slightly.
That doesn't come as much of a surprise; both Sharper Image and Brookstone had shoppers that would shop each other's stores and then get a similar thing.

Cool fan!
And now I have "It Takes Two" stuck in my head now.

Great video Jay. That's a cool fan.
Thanks; I knew I had to have it for the bar, it's got that "bling" factor.
I see a new addition to the light show in Jay's Bar!
Yeah I have to see where I'm going to mount it. It's one of those things that SOMEDAY I'll get around to...

If you were to unplug it for a few hours would it remember the time
It certainly seemed to, yes.
Man, that’s the type of clock that really blows...
Wait till you see the vacuum I got, that thing sucks!

I thought those were the Massey fans???
They were! But there was one that I kept boxed since 2011, and has lighting effects kind of like this one. Very made in China, but still pretty cool.
Nice! That I'd like to see!
Cool novelty! Good closeout price, they still sell at >$30.00
Yeah I thought it was awesome, I hope it holds up when I put it into regular use!
Spin-down looked to have the character of brushless. If that what it is, it might last a good long time.
I have no idea if it is or not.
It sounded it like when you turned the LED part on the fan slowed down slightly. Are the LEDs drawing that much power that the motor has to slow down.

jaykay18 but LEDS save on power. Thats why the electric rates go up cause big electrical is not making any money when no one is using it.
Yeah, that's why we have the "Revenue Decoupling Adjustment", which is a fancy way of saying "it's gonna cost you more!"
wow what an awesome clock fan i got to get one of those from amazon good video and i enjoyed it
I figured I was going to start a worldwide revolution on people getting these when I posted this video...
I have something very identical to this that sold at brookstone and only shows the time and it was in different colors.
That doesn't come as much of a surprise; both Sharper Image and Brookstone had shoppers that would shop each other's stores and then get a similar thing.
Do you know how to change the temp to Celsius ??
T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) × 5/9
I wanted to have the temp Show Celsius on the fan as Celsius is what is used in Trinidad.
I've checked the manual for it, and it only shows in Fahrenheit.
Trying change celsius to F..don't know how
I see it on Amazon. I can't believe it.
They exist, but are not plentiful, there are only a handful of choices out there.
jaykay18 you're definitely right. There's probably only a limited quantity.
