Wind Simulation in Urban Planning

In this animation we show the results of a CFD simulation of the UNO-City area in Vienna, Austria. Strong wind caused by high-rise buildings in the area (downdraughts, ...) influence wind comfort for pedestrians.

@Paul D. Ha! "Ingrid Cloud" was barely started, when we published this video. What you meant to say, was probably something like: "You should hire the marketing guy of Ingrid Cloud" ;)
The software used for simulation is Rheologic in-house code (based on OpenFOAM), video was rendered with blender and plenty of scripting tying things together.

Based on OpenFOAM with additional custom code; OF is available as OSS. There are other, simpler approaches out there, that are suitable for beginners - for example simscale.
