Hey there, author here! Seeing as I wrote this story several years ago I was surprised to see it show up in my UA-cam recommendations! I'm so glad you enjoyed my story, as I know I had quite a bit of fun making it! The screenshots were especially fun to make, and were indeed inspired by NES Godzilla ;)
It's so satisfying to read a gaming creepypasta that ends with what is essentially "well that was weird, anyway that didn't diminish my love for the series or anything"
The ending image being simple and fairly easy on the eyes is a welcome change over "oh no, tails and eggman is strung up naked and dead and bleeding and dead and SAD AND DEAD!" In addition, the Mr. Dark/Magician duel definitely seems like it could be something that was actually scrapped from the game instead of the old "they scrapped mr bloodbones because TOO SPOOKY" shtick.
The reason why I kinda like this, is that this seems real. compared to others I wouldn't be shocked if rayman did have a darker tone before the final version changed some stuff. hell, rayman 2 is a pretty dark game all things considered.
Well to be fair Ray Man is no stranger to some fourth wall breaks regarding other games. The green guy think his name was "Murphy" did once poke fun/mocked Legend of Zelda when Fairies were brought up, it was around the third game where such was quoted probably.
I like this Creepypasta simply because it's realistic, I remember playing Betas or Glitched versions of games I'm familiar with, and they're unsettling, not gory, not violent, but just uncommon to what I normally remember...
Even Rayman 2 „beta/demo” versions while not as much different from final version were a bit diffrent. Not to mention Rayman's sister game Tonic Trouble which got beta version released at some market (? don't remember details, I'm not American).
This story is actually super good. I think you hit the nail on the head with the tone-- Rayman 2 (and 3 to some extent) was tonally a darker game then the first one, but who's to say Ancel and his team didn't want to incorporate some of those ideas earlier?
I believe it was because of how the internet hivemind worked. Nowadays, we can easily say it is garbage, but horror standards were quite different then compared to now... Kinda. But I agree, this story is pretty intriguing, and it is a shame it isn't in the spotlight.
I love seeing creepypastas on more lesser known or not as popular games. it sheds light on games that don't get the attention they deserve and I can't help but appreciate something like that
Very nice to hear creepypasta that is actually unnerving and ambiguous instead of being yet another .exe where a character goes insane for absolutely no reason.
This story was really well made. Not making anything extremely scary with blood and death (Eeek!). It's really just enough to make the reader feel uneasy. This really is giving me motivation to try making creepypastas myself.
I really liked this story especially the custom screenshots. It helped me to visualize what was going on in the story easier. I also really liked how the main character wasn’t super creeped out but was still unnerved. I like how at one point he said it wouldn’t surprise him if a monster did jump out. Overall I liked how the story didn’t use a lot of gaming creepypasta cliches like hyper realistic blood and ray man deciding to kill the main character. I am kinda curious what would’ve happened if the main character rejected the fairy’s offer to heal ray man. Anyway I have never played a ray man game before and I never felt lost when I read it. I feel like the author did a good job describing the differences instead of assuming everyone reading has played ray man but also didn’t get too descriptive on certain parts. This is definitely one of the better gaming creepypastas so good job 😊
This may seem silly, but I am nonbinary and the fact that he always says "ladies, gentlemen, and all else" has always made me feel welcome and included. I love your content Dennis, I hope to see you keep doing what you love for many years to come!
Hey so this may be a bit late, but, I have a theory on what's going on in the game here! There's two different versions to this theory though, one involving pollution and another involving the world dying out due to the protoon being stolen. The first one, being the pollution theory, is that the world as the player goes on gets more and more polluted, possibly by the glade's inhabitants, maybe by Mr Dark, who knows- in the end Rayman gets sick from the exposure to all the toxic chemicals he's endured. Second is the protoon one, and how the world's balance means the protoon being safe- and since it isn't, the world started to slowly crumble to bits, and since limbless hero here is directly connected to the world, he sorta went down with it My theories
Tbh, this is probably the only .exe styled spoopy story that I kind of appreciated. Most of these felt painfuly samey with almost no effort put into them, always involving the characters walking with sad expressions, killing others or ending up being killed themselves, involving blood, eventually ending with a jumpscare. The most likely reason that I'm giving this one an exception is that it reminded me of this quite big fan comic which I totally reccomend you and anyone else to check out. Funny enough, it's called Rayman Origins which might confuse some people until they realize that it was actually created years before the GAME was even announced. The comic is technically supposed to tell the entire plot of the first game, but with a much darker tone. Not just involving stuff like blood and swearing, but the way the author put that tone into the story, made it feel way deeper than the one we know in the original R1. The ending of it... Almost made me cry. I did read it a long time ago however, so my views may have changed, but I still see alot of good things in it. He even made a few extra pages for R2, but unfortunately he never finished that one.
The Virgin Hyper-Realistic Photos Vs. The Chad Fan-Made Creative Photos Edit: I wonder if the protagonist of Thank You For Playing Rayman would react to the other creepypasta characters, either him being overdramatic that their real or just weirded out by them and point out their flaws.
I know I'm fairly late and I wish I'd found this video sooner, but I'm glad I found it when I did. I've been going through a tough time right now. My mind hasn't been able to keep away from something sad that happened recently in my life, and other things had been going wrong left and right. But when I saw this pop up in my recommended, I had a huge smile on my face. I've always loved your content and I'm so glad you're back, I hope you're doing well, physically and mentally. Keep being awesome, Dennis. Love ya ❤
Thank you for the kind words. I’m really happy to hear I could help a little bit and I wish you the very best of luck with the future and that things look up for you soon. Thank you for your comment.
Took a gander at what the events of the story might mean so here is my Game Theory or whatever. The events (and .exe) play out the way they do because the author did not complete the game first time around. He gave up due to the difficulty, an understandable 90s Rayman PC fan experience... and since the midgame status quo is "No Great Protoon, no harmony, no balance" time marches on rapid-pace as soon as the game booted up. Rayman has to see it through to the dot exe END because that's the problem here: no progress and no ending. He's in a weird status quo limbo where things are incomplete and Mr. Dark won. This is why the file name goes from UNFIN to .END. So we have this author reply in the comments(to Poison, not me): "I really like this interpretation! I wasn't too clear with my intentions but I recall that the reason Rayman ends up so sickly-looking is because the world (Filled with trash, nuclear waste, polluted water, etc) is slowly poisoning him throughout the story. The syringe in the final boss fight is filled with a mystery substance, but whatever it is, it's not good!" "Nature and people live together in peace~" up until they didn't I suppose. Rayman's world wasn't meant for industrialization, the place is a wreck, there's no Great Protoon to provide balance in the world hence Tarayzan's spiel about the flood. Nothing is safe anymore. Rayman's state could owe to stress as well. He doesn't want to proceed, he doesn't want to see what became of his hopeless world and friends. Three die outright. I read through the story and 'Zaroff was here' caught my eye so I headed over to the wiki. The protagonist expresses confusion because that ain't Razoff. It is, however, a footnote ancestor of his who hunted down a rare catch to prove himself... which was Space Mama. This is of course a Rayman 3 reference but Zaroff in of himself references Rayman 1 enough for 'the bad guys won' to be at play. If sequel villains are also winning the pollution and decimated worlds could be the fault of the pirates, Betilla does mention Polokus. Could just be the lack of Great Protoon though. Rayman has weird and vague continuity, it's possible the protagonist didn't emulate the game until after Rayman3 was released. With the ending you would think 'the bad guys won again' but it backfires on Mr. Dark - it is no longer a case of a story being left in limbo stasis with an inactive hero. It is 'an ending' because Rayman saw it through to the final encounter instead of declining to heal. Being struck down in the final battle by the villain (In some versions Mr. Dark is the chimera transforming to fight Rayman) *is* an ending... and so the timeline resets. Rayman, or the game, gives thanks and shows him at a facsimilie of his beach house from the opening - it is janky because the .exe timeline is janky but he is okay. With this timeline reset the author can proceed to play the game as normal and Rayman's world is saved.
This is one of the best "haunted video game" creepypastas, and it's actually my favorite of the genre. Edit: And I haven't even played any of the Rayman games. That's how much I enjoyed it.
One theory I have is some of the imagery made me wonder if there are supposed to be allusions to drugs and addiction, as syringes are something that comes up a few times (an item not present in Rayman), Rayman's appearance after being "healed" makes me think of a drug addict after they've gotten a fix, Rayman's demise at the end is due to one stab from a syringe, maybe indicating an overdose, and his weakened state before Betilla came in was him suffering withdrawal. That's just my personal theory for some of the stuff in the story, I'm not sure how I'd be able to connect it to other things like the behavior of the NPCs and bosses.
I really like this interpretation! I wasn't too clear with my intentions but I recall that the reason Rayman ends up so sickly-looking is because the world (Filled with trash, nuclear waste, polluted water, etc) is slowly poisoning him throughout the story. The syringe in the final boss fight is filled with a mystery substance, but whatever it is, it's not good!
@@THEdragonOfRainbows Oh wow I didn't expect the author to respond to me! And oh I see, it sounds like your own intentions with the story were to simply make it seem like you played a mysterious early version of the game that was darker than the final build, with the real mystery being "how did this end up here and why does it behave the way it does?" Was it somehow paranormal? A weird leftover from a developer? No one knows and safe to say you're leaving it up for interpretation much like how I interpreted allusions to drugs from some of the visuals.
@@THEdragonOfRainbows my idea of why Rayman looked like a zombie after being healed was like his body was like rottting sorta like Bruno Buccirati from JJBA part 5 after being revived by Giorno
I just realized, that idea of a boss just being some weird amalgamation of a bunch of the previous bosses was actually used in the fan remake of Rayman 1: Rayman Redemption

I already did one but here a already existing one but better to understand Sally Fingerstick..... Sally Fingerstick was a little girl 6 years old to be exact. She had nightmares of her dad and mom dying in a car crash. She knew that that made no sense...or was it? At the age of 7 her dad and mom went to buy some groceries, they said they'll be back in a hour or so. They thought she was old enough to take care of herself. An hour later the police knocked on Sally's door. The police said "your parents died in a car crash". She knew that her nightmares were real! The police suggested to go with them and they will find her new parents. She was horrified. She started to cry nonstop. When they were walking to the police station Sally thought about the accident, then she fell and hit her head against a brick. It killed her instantly. They had a funeral for Sally. Then after the funeral they all left and some of her closest friends cried. Then after 4 years she came back as a spirit, killing left and right. She still remembers the car crash of her parents. So that's why about 23 people died of car crashes due to Sally. That's why they say to watch out for Sally Fingerstick.....
Did you know that there was a Rayman animation series in the early 2000s? No? Well you didn't miss anything either. The series only had 4 episodes before it was canceled. I think you can see them on UA-cam if you want.
Duuude Dennis, I've been watching you since like. Late Elementary. I'm in Highschool Now. How crazy is that? Thank's for the years of Gorillaz and Creepypasta insights!
holy shit?? I just read through the creepypasta itself and it generally does come off as unsettling. also the "pictures" that came along with it seemed very well done. I like how the Thank You For Playing one had some glitches here and there.
Theory: i think in this version of the game the protoon was destroyed allowing Mr. Dark to take over. But the creators saw this to be too dark with the story so they went for the cheery one we know today.
Its even better when you compare it to nes godzilla, In Nes Godzilla, Zach gets Hurt, He feels pain, He gets traumatized, But in Thank you for playing rayman Its different, No harm, Just a bit of a spook
Great review for a good creepypasta from a great youtuber! Also unrelated but i just read a bad creepypasta that has so many cliches im wondering if its a trollpasta.
I'm a little late to this vid but I'm very curious. Especially seeing this is on "SomeOrdinaryGamer Wiki" we're in for something interesting. Funny as Godzilla NES has a sequel (not finished but-) who who knows perhaps they'll mite make a sequel. This is a really well done pasta and a terrific summary.
Hey Dennis, I wanted to reach out to you to ask if your willing to review a creepypasta I have recently written. While I have use writing aids and been good at creative writing, I will admit that writing horror stories isn't my strong suit. I recently published a story called "Beldam Luna" on Spinpasta (It had to go on spinpasta due to the framing device used to tell the story) and it would be very helpful for you to check it out for me. I plan on covering her Origin story later as a stand-alone story, but I wasn't sure about it. Thank you if you do decide to look at it.
Me again, I do hope you do check it. Because I will need help writing the origins story (like an editor). and I trust that your the person for this job.

@@twixthehyena ah i see youre a man of culture as well
Welcome back!
Edit: 4:52 Does anyone else see the rock that looks like Sans the Skeleton from behind? The leftmost tall rock in front of Rayman?
[megalovania plays]
I'm glad you're back. I've rewatched a ton of your videos, but it's nice to see you making new content again.
*Cue Rayman 1 Level Clear Theme*
*YEAH!*
🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷🎷
Great video as always man!
Also, I like that you show more respect and produce more content for Rayman than Ubisoft have done in the last 8 years :(
Where are you from? You sound exactly like Sylo Star Wars. That accent is a perfect match. GREAT VIDEO AGAIN!
Glad to have you back. Brilliant as always hoodo
bruh I haven't heard this guy in a while, brings me back ya know? keep up the good work, dude👑👍🙏
Now let’s watch some good creepypastas before the worst ones come.
I mean, the original Rayman wants you to die so hard it’s scary enough to be a creepypasta
Glad to see you're back! Couldn't love another month without your peppy voice.
Did you know that there was a Rayman animation series in the early 2000s? No? Well you didn't miss anything either. The series only had 4 episodes before it was canceled. I think you can see them on UA-cam if you want.
I'm currently playing my first Rayman game, and I already love it. Its cool to watch these videos
Duuude Dennis, I've been watching you since like. Late Elementary. I'm in Highschool Now. How crazy is that? Thank's for the years of Gorillaz and Creepypasta insights!
The boys are back in town
The return of the king
It's good on a technical level but it isn't that creepy in my opinion but still 7/10
Hey so glad to see you uploading again! You're seriously one of my favorite UA-camrs
holy shit?? I just read through the creepypasta itself and it generally does come off as unsettling. also the "pictures" that came along with it seemed very well done. I like how the Thank You For Playing one had some glitches here and there.
The deleted ending where Michael Ancel, never want you to the disturbing ending.
Ngl, this creepypasta is underrated
Would you consider doing a Rayman iceberg?
That'd be cool
To be honest I am very happy that your channel exists
THE RETURN OF THE KING!!!
So nice to see you back! Sorry, but a bit of a personal questions: are there any plans for more short movies? I really liked those!
Welcome back my guy.
Hoodo is back :D we missed you bud
THANK GOD DUDE I LOVE UR STUFF
I love Rayman and his rabbits and all the above!! Go. Rayman--you're the goat and that's a fact
My gawd! I read this on DeviantArt years ago! I fricking loved this creepypasta and I’ve yet to find another scary Rayman story to top this!
This is honestly one of my favorite creepypastas.
Youre back! Welcome dude, we missed you
Theory: i think in this version of the game the protoon was destroyed allowing Mr. Dark to take over. But the creators saw this to be too dark with the story so they went for the cheery one we know today.
Wow yeee hoodo is back the top 5 rayman creepypasta is really nostalgic idk why
i see just ONE of your videos in my recommendeds and oops here I am binging them now I guess
Welcome back
Its even better when you compare it to nes godzilla, In Nes Godzilla, Zach gets Hurt, He feels pain, He gets traumatized, But in Thank you for playing rayman Its different, No harm, Just a bit of a spook
spok 💀
Great review for a good creepypasta from a great youtuber!
Also unrelated but i just read a bad creepypasta that has so many cliches im wondering if its a trollpasta.
I gotta say, this one was really neat! Though the end did feel a tad anticlimactic!
This creepypasta ended up getting fan made levels in the fan game Rayman Redemption (remake) and in Rayman Redesigner
YES YOU UPLOADED I LOVE UR CONTENT DUDE
"As the screen fades to black it says-"
"TrY oUr NeW cHiPs"
comedic timing by ads is my favorite type of comedic timing.
hell yeah dude! I havent seen your vids pop up in forever! How''ve you been dude? hope quarantine has been treating you well!
Dang, this looks to be quite a great one! FUN FACT: Rayman's first ever game was first released on the Atari Jaguar.
Finaly some rayman content
Because those guys at ubisoft kinda just forgot about it
Tack att du kom tillbaka
I would've played a game based on this
Oh hes back
My fav youtuber is back, this weekend got much better lol
Ah yes, the true king of creepypastas has returned.
Welcome back little brother
I thought Godzilla was gonna win for sure because he had a nuclear meltdown and would cause red to die and there a another one called Godzilla wrath
What the
Can you do a part 2 of the best Pokémon Creepypastas? Also it’s great to have you back
Hey Dennis, I wanted to reach out to you to ask if your willing to review a creepypasta I have recently written.
When we needed him the most, he came back.
I'm glad you're back, Dennis. Now could you please do more lost episode creepypastas?
Welcome Back 🤠
We get tons upon tons of Sonic.exe games but no game of this
