- When the camera helicopter was at Fantasy of Flight for the "Air Aces" shoot, we filmed some of the Curtiss Pusher flying.
The footage is stunning... poetry in motion!

I was amazed at how gracefully the Pusher lifted off. I expected Kermit to wrestle it into the air. Now that's flying!
Mr. Weeks has dedicated himself to providing an invaluable service to mankind. Not just to preserve these absolutely incredible aircraft, but maintaining them in FLYING condition and doing so in a way we can be right there with him. Sure you can see these in a museum in a static display, but he literally breathes LIFE back into them so we can enjoy them in their natural element... the AIR!
Thank you Mr. Weeks. Thank you indeed.
I'm sure you know that is not a "preserved" 1909 Curtis model D. It is a replica built in 2009 by Dean Wilson and Jim Otey in Idaho.

🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.

🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.

that might actually be the coolest flying footage i've ever seen
Beautiful to watch! Just imagine how amazing this looked to the people watching it fly back in its original time period!
We now travel in aircraft without giving it a second thought, but it's still the most miraculous thing we'll ever do in our lives.
unless you become an astronaut.
Ever since I was I child, I have been trying to fly like a bird! 😀

Very tranquil and smooth, nice old fashion plane.
Flys so beautifully and is so stable. I watch Those magnificent men and their flying machines every Christmas
no matter how old... the airpane is a beauty...
Absolute JOY..... All smiles !!!! Thank you ever so much!!!
It seems like Mr. Weeks is cleaning his computer house. Quite a few videos from years ago being published on UA-cam. I have loved all of them. Some very great planes and I am thankful that there are people like Mr. Weeks that are able to restore these historical planes and keep them flying.
My Grandfather flew as a passenger in something like this about a Century ago! He was about 16 or so, and was so SCARED that he NEVER got in an airplane again for the rest of his life!
Lived to nearly 95 !
hahahahaha cant judge him!
there is something about seeing a person at the controls in full view that makes flying seem relatable and attainable
This is the measure of how truly brave Kermit is. Flying a collection of bedsheets and garden canes.
Imagine driving down the highway, looking up, and seeing this antique overhead. A good day it would become
That was one of the most beautiful pieces of flight film I have ever seen. ! Music was awesome also. A joy to watch!

The men of those days risked their lives for the changing turn of technological advancement and the men of these days demonstrate such achievements of menkind. Thank you for doing such a good job of reminding us all of the incredible and history changing journey of the flying machine.
THIS IS SO COOL Kermit🤗👍👍👍,..... I want one !... I could fly this ALL DAY with this music playing in my David Clarks.
Plane and music is perfect
There’s something so beautiful about this, seeing one of the first Machines flyin is not in incredible but I can’t help but wonder what it was like seeing it fly for the first time.
Try to imagine : How beautiful was first flight of man!
There's actually film footage of the longest flight for a powered, heavier than air flying machine.. with a passenger
looks just about like this one.. makes one proud to be human ❤
Wilbur Wright and some army guy as the passenger .. braver men than I.. the motor sounds like a B&S lawnmower engine 😳
@@richardcarew4708 it's the wright brothers
Kermit Weeks and his wonderful flying machines. It is wonderful in 2017, we can see many of the aviation flying aircraft still go up in the air. Thank you.
Now I Know How It Was For Glenn Curtiss, America's Real Aviation Pioneer!
Those magnificent men in their flying machines comes to mind. Great stuff.
I have a wood propeller that Curtiss used on their JN-4 aircraft. It is 102 inches long and the tips are sheathed with copper. This footage is magnificent.
Today I learned: Not to wear a hat when hand swinging a prop.
Fantastic video!! Loved it.
In my flight simulator, MSFS9, I've flown Glen Curtis' flight from Albany to New York city. Quite the fun time, replicating historic flights ! Wonderful to see this bird flying! Peace and Love from Canada
I felt like I was watching some sort of past aviator travelling through time into the present day and flying around in our modern skies. Especially when the Curtiss taxied past the Helicopter at the end. Nicely done Kermit! And team!
it's amazing the amount of advancements that were made in aviation in not so many years.
That's the true way of flying no instruments no wind shield. Lovely video. Thanks
In the 21st century, one can live many lifetimes, explore the ends of the universe, see, experience, have, become, and understand anything and everything made possible by UA-cam!
The Curtis was very advanced for its time having ailerons instead of the then common practice of wing warping (twisting the structure of the wing to roll!) and tricycle undercarriage, not common till after the second world war.
Its a privilege to see these vintage aircraft in their element. 🙂👍
I think Glen Curtis also was the first to use a control wheel in lieu of the levers
Pure magic. Utterly superb footage that captures perfectly the essence of the miracle of human flight.
While I love your videos of the warbirds, this one has brought the biggest smile to my face. Looks like hard work to fly but the joy would be unbelievable.
Stunning
I would never have believed such a thing could fly but heck it DID and beautifully.
Brilliant piloting skills.
That was very special both for the pilot and all viewers.
They must have thought they were seeing visions when they saw that flying over them.
I really get it and loved watching your pride and joy flying like a bird.
Just beautiful and congratulations .
Keep the vintage in the air.
Peter
I'd love to live in the area to see Kermit flying his treasures around...!
For some reason this airplane looks More amazing than a modern combat jet
You are essentially looking at a pile of sticks and grandma's linens with an engine strap on there for good measure flying around like nothing
Procure vídeo do vôo das réplicas do 14 bis de Santos Dumont que vai ver o que e emoção!
SO beautiful! Love your choice of music My Best to you, stay safe and thank you...

The Blue Danube
Incredibly appropriate now that the opening scene of 2001 A Space Odisey was accompinied by it.
That was Great just like the first time she flew I Thank you for your Time to shaur the love for Flute.
Amazingly graceful, as if Strauss had written the music just for you and Glenn Curtiss.
Super. It is nice to watch from where we have developed to present comfortable Aircraft
This is the first time I have heard the Blue Danube, and not thought of the space station scene in 2001! Well done!
I love the Ailerons on the Curtis airplane. A great design improvement in many ways over the Wright brothers' warped wings.
The best way to fly low and slow. Glen would be proud
This is one of the greatest pilots I've ever seen,
The pilots who can fly this plane are all knights in the sky
The guys that originally flew them had to learn as they went along.
It's so beautiful with the classic music ❤❤
What a wonderfull Video and very suitable soundtrack good enough for Space Odyssey 2001 as well ...what a contrast
Lovely video and the Johann Strauss music adds to the nostalgia.
Great video! Thanks! I love the Curtiss pushers as they were so much more graceful and beautiful than anything the Wright brothers ever put together. My favorite Curtiss pusher of all was the 1909 version, because it didn't have those control surfaces sticking way out in front of the pilot like this one does.
OMG how cool was THAT!?!? Perfect choice of music too. Was anyone else remembering Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? I haven't seen that movie in decades but I wonder if that music was part of the sound track. And good thing the helicopter didn't blow Kermit upside down! That video was fascinating! The people in the boat were probably thinking, "What the...?" but then they are probably used to seeing odd contraptions in the air near Kermit's airport.
Totally cool, very enjoyable. It looks like Kermit has to really stay on the controls but it's graceful at the same time. How far we've come.
How many are looking at this in 2024 thinking how many Boeing max will still be up there in 100 years? Ok months
So simple.....wonderful.
I've always liked the Curtiss Pusher. Especially the type without the front elevator, like the one made for the film The Great Race. Fun movie. Haven't seen it in years, though.
Simply BEAUTIFUL !!! THANKS, Kermit !
Definitely the most beautiful aeroplane I've ever seen
I was going to say poetry in motion, and there it is, in the description section! This is truly the essence of flying!
The air to air is very beautiful , i 'm cryin to emoution. Congratulations from Brazil , by and good night !
That is one beautiful piece of functional art. I swear, someone could put a control stick on a washer and you could fly it. Great job to you and your team. Thank you for posting and God Bless from right here in Florida, Brooksville to be precise.
This has become one of my favourite UA-cam videos. The miracle of flight! The miracles I recognize come from the mind of man.
Thanks
Wow. Just.... wow. On all levels.
This makes so happy I found this channel.
Bonus! A Super-Constellation in the background! That being said: superb video! Thanks a bunch for sharing it with us rampants!...
Very cool airplane, love the aileron placement. Fun fact that I’m sure you already knew is Curtis invented the ailerons out of necessity due to the wright bros patent on wing warping, which obviously was an incredible advancement in aviation that is still used on almost every fixed wing aircraft today.
Great video Kermit. Best of luck with Irma. I'm sure you'll have everything strapped down as much as you can at FoF
I believe Curtis was the first plane that had arilons , elevator, and rudder. The Wright brothers were still using wing flexing. Curtis wars way ahead of its time.
Perfect music. How beautiful!!
what a smooth flight for such an old aircraft
Perfect music for this video, The Blue Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss Jr. Beautiful.
Thank you!!
i was driving down the road about 10 years ago and we saw one of these flying just a bit above the tree tops.
this so needed to be in black and white.. perfect!
Beautiful!
Beautiful .. Cant say more .. beautiful in every sec of it ...
Gorgeous! Love the Strauss too!
Thanks for taking us on an amazing flight.
Graceful and beautiful.
Few days ago I actually went through your videos to find the video of you flying it. Beautiful beast.
I certainly enjoyed watching that. I also enjoyed the Blue Danube as the music to go along with it. I was caught back to 2001: A Space Odyessy. I found it semi-ironic that this was at the beginning of the flight, and the scene in the Pan Am shuttle craft has yet to be realized. Of course, Pan Am is no longer in existence, but still, it was two ends of the spectrum, kind of.
Thanks for posting this, even if it was from five years ago! It was well worth the wait.
Puts a smile on my face
Wow! I'm a retired pilot and when I look at this I truly realize these are the shoulders we stand on today!! What spirit and cleverness and determination! Thanks for sharing and the very best of luck.
a pretty video, and a pretty plane. i'm speechless
excellent video thanks. it's like watching the original flight live and reliving that Wright brothers' ocation. Thks Kermit
The moment of lift-off was incredibly moving!
The ultimate stealth aeroplane. No way radar could pick it out.
What a great flight to watch Ioved it all
Must be amazing to fly a craft like that with a veritable timeline of aircraft laid out below.
Kite-sticks, string and brown paper - *_Wonderful!_*
I've been a pilot for a long time and I have never seen a plane takeoff like that. It looked just like it was picked straight up off the ground.
I notice that too.
Same music as in Stanley Kubrick '2001, an Space Odyssey'.
Equally amazing flight. Blessings +
A truly beautiful flying machine.
This is by far one of the coolest airplanes I've ever seen fly and the music was the perfect touch. Thank you so much for sharing this with us ❤❤
This is some great video, K. Some of the best you've ever had. Flying over Florida is such a marvelous experience I love each time as if it were my first. For those who've never had the opportunity, you brought that into their homes. That's wonderful. And what a flying machine!
Beautiful aircraft. Great choice of music. It will be forever associated with space flight for me because of the movie 2001. So seems sort of appropriate to associate it with early flight too.
Perfect musical score for this flight.
Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies (1969) - IMDb You the man!!!
Simply beautiful!.
Fantastic! Flying reduced to the maximum!
Exceptional and so much better without sound and with only music, imagine how early pilots must have felt when they achieved flight back then, going solo today for the first time is still exciting but back then it must have been truly awesome.
I want to buy/build one and finally learn to fly. Such a great thing you did.
Just magnificent, thank you Kermit!
