Imagine hearing either Serkis or Skaarsgard’s speeches and being told it’s unclear if that was even the best monologue in the episode. Gilroy casually dropping two Emmy performances in the same hour of TV like a freakin boss
they delivered for sure
I think this episode was actually written by Beau Willimon! (House of Cards), but Gilroy has also killed it on his episodes
@@James_MacX You're right but gilroy still supervise every episodes tho
The Mon Mothma scene was pretty deep though. She was being required to sacrifice her daughter to this creep's son to gain his influence.
she looked MAAAD
Cassian would have instructed everything you said to Kino about swimming, but if you rewatch that moment again you could see that Cassian was pushed off the edge before he could say anything to Kino.
This is the kind of details that makes the show so good. The writers thought it through, and they didn't give Cassian the choice to help.
In addition to all of the wonderful speeches and conversations in this one episode...the MVP award goes to
"New Guy." No words and seconds of screen time but the key to taking over the prison. Raise a pint or two for New Guy....lol
Ep. title should have been:
YAY new guy...AWW new guy
Right? Literally every reaction I watched 🤣
poor new guy
In my head Kino survives, his counterpart from the night shift, the doctor, and some other inmates helped him ashore a couple of miles down the beach from where Cassian ended up.
I suspect the reason they left his fate ambiguous was down to actor availability. If Andy Serkis is available (and interested) when they're filming season 2 - then awesome. If he's too busy playing the lead role in some major Hollywood movie because directors and producers have finally realised that he's even better as a flesh-and-blood actor than he is driving a digital avatar - then they have a perfectly plausible reason for him not showing up.
great theory!
I think it was intentional to put you in the shoes of andor and not knowing the man who lead them to freedom couldn't find it himself
I'd love to see an end credit scene at the end of the season of Kino kicking it on the beach in some warm easy climate... or re-uniting with his kids, and you have no idea how he got there.
@@user-pw3dt7hd7s "ironic, he could help others escape Narkina 5 Prison....But not himself" 😆 I do hope he survived though. I would love a season of just Kino Loy.
I think it’s more so he fit the message of Luthen’s speech perfectly
Clearly this episode is something because you both were in mourning over Kino for pretty much the entire discussion right after it ended. 😂
This episode's theme was sacrifice, and I love the progression they showed: Mon Mothma resisting, Kino just coming to terms with it (I think he knew he was dying because the water was the only way out), and Luthen long ago having sacrificed his soul and humanity. With that theme in mind, Kino's narrative ending in sacrifice makes the episode more powerful.
such a good show with great themes
Great observation. Mon says no it’s not worth it, Kino says yes it is, and Luthen jumped into it so fast that he never bothered to ponder the question until he was neck deep in his sacrifice.
And the thought that he knew he was surrounded by water as he was giving the speech encouraging people to CLIMB to their freedom, knowing all the while that he would be unable to grasp his own.
Great reaction to a great episode. This such an adult Star wars with all the darkness and nuances. The Luthen monologue has to be my all time favorite Star Wars speech. Andy Serkis is so great as Kino , he deserves an Emmy. With all the build up I'm looking forward to the finale but am afraid that there will be a major cliffhanger.
I doubt it will be _too_ big a cliffhanger. They'd already finished filming season one before season two was confirmed so they would have written an finale that would work if one season was all we got (probably with minor loose ends they can follow up on but not a major 'how-are-they-going-to-get-out-of-this' cliffhanger)
thanks for watching! it's a GREAT show
I was waiting for more Skarsgard on screen and boy he delivers. Andy Serkis was very good to ... that face when he realized he had to swim ...
🤣 Kailin is in mourning. She just became a widow now that Kino is (maybe?) gone. Great episode. Great reaction.
still sad
@@nerdymarriedcouple We didn’t see him die so he might have gotten out? It would be amazing if he showed up later. Maybe not even this season but in season 2 🍿💥🏆
this show is amazingggg
yesssssssss
Thanks, Kailyn! Thanks, Eric! 💥 Best monologue ever. #KailynAndEric #StarWars #Andor
To be fair, the swim from the prison to shore was a significant distance from what we saw, much as many of the prisoners would have had a decent chance of making it in calm water, it would have been difficult under ideal circumstances... and there will be those who despite basic swimming ability were not the equal of the distance. However, from a prison population of nearly five thousand, there were likely others who couldn't swim... and there is more chance of survival in a group forced to stay behind than for one individual
here's hoping he made it!
Watching you both slowly process this epic episode was so very entertaining. 😂
No wait, I forgot this one was even better… :)
This episode was beyond incredible!!
When Kino said he can’t swim I was gutted & tears flowed down my face 😭
Hopefully some of his friends held hands with him & jumped together simultaneously; one on each side holding one of his hands
Once they land inside the ocean they can all start kicking their legs & with their outer hands start swimming, then with their hand holding one of Kino’s hands they just start moving it so he sees how it’s done & they instruct him to start kicking his legs repeatedly like them…if only 😅🙏🏽
Or more basic; since it was about 5,000 of them running to jump maybe a bunch will push him over like Cassian was & once Kino’s in the water, hopefully someone near him sees him beginning to drown & helps him 🙏🏽
3:59 It's been suggested that Andor deliberately remained on the floor until the last second to get everyone's attention before rallying the inmates. Beautifully subtle, if so.
Great episode. Really loved Luthen's monologue and makes me think that he was a Jedi. I'd like to see Kino return somehow in season 2 as a Rebel ground commander. Like Luthen needs heroes, Cassian made Kino a hero. Mon Mothma's scene is so important for the character and her story... What will she do? The writers set this dilemma up perfectly with all the talk of Mon's marriage and Chandrillian traditions. Kino had a good speech but I think Luthen knocked it out of the park!
Just want to let you guys know, the highest resolution I seem to have for this video is 360p? Not sure if that's on my end or not, but if it's not just me, I wanted to let you know.
thanks for your comment! honestly not sure why... it's on youtube's end. hopefully it'll get up there!
@@nerdymarriedcouple Looks to be resolved now. So its all good!
@@jakepotrebic Higher resolutions take time to process.
Technically its the opposite. We inherently swim and forget later. Then have to learn to walk
NOW WE TAKE VORKUTAAAA
What if Luthen does not die but fades into the shadows after he is sure the Rebellion has a firm hold and a chance to win?
“One way out”. I’m going to have that tattooed… on my butt. What an amazing show!
Eric you are a lucky man to have Kailyn and Kailyn you are lucky to have Eric. This is a sad episode and we might see Kino in the next season if not in the last two episodes?
Does anyone really think that after that speech he gave his fellow brothers to help each other, that no one in the end helped him? I find that hard to believe. At the very least, his equal, the nightshift manager probably helped him out--we saw him a lot during Kino's speech and the escape of prisoners in the lower decks.
Kino's their hero, the liberator. I find it hard to believe that no one would have helped him escape. Out of 5,000 men, is Kino going to be the only man that can't swim? What are the odds of that?
This series is nothing short of fantastic. Every episode out does the one before it. Every actor brings his/her A-game to every performance. I'm worried for the Mandalorian season 3 and the Ahsoka series now. I'm sure I'll like them, but the other shows had there ups and downs--they were not as solid as this series, and we're ten stories in! Andor is that show. I would be surprised if this series doesn't win Emmys.
Clearly , "The New Hope" has to be redone. Andor and Rogue One tells a story of a rebellion paid for with sacrifice and pain, it was earned , Jedi's are a distraction.
Actually the best Star Wars. What even is happening.
if they nail these next 2 episodes then it just might bethe best star wars content period. Wouldnt that be something.
Thank god there are now hundreds of potential murderers and rapists on the loose.
think u missed the point ther
