Hi, dietetics university student here. If you’re a Canadian viewer this doesn’t apply to you! In Canada we have different regulations as to what’s considered “whole wheat.” In order for the entire wheat kernels bran, endosperm, and germ to be intact, it must be labeled “whole grain.” Whole wheat products usually have some of the germ and bran removed. This is beneficial in the sense that it may prevent your bread from going stale quicker (the removed germ contains unsaturated fat, which is unstable/causes bread to go rancid quicker). However, by removing a portion of the bran and germ, some of the dietary fibre and micronutrients are removed! So make sure you buy 100% whole grain. And as mentioned in the video, always check the ingredient lists in order to obtain a “cleaner” bread.
I think when looking for good cereal we're suppose to look for whole grain as the first main ingredient as well
im in love with the content your making. so informative and so useful for a better life of eating! thank you for all your hard work and research.😊
+LiveInBeauty20 :) Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Thank you..thank you..thank you for FINALLY making it easier to find healthier bread. I love love love your channel.
+SWANIED So glad you found it helpful! Thank you!
This is so helpful because I hate salads so I often have sandwiches instead and cram as many vegetables in them as possible, but I've heard so much about bread being unhealthy that I worried I wasn't actually doing myself any good by eating bread everyday. However, it's reassuring to know that there are healthy (or at least healthier) bread options and I can still enjoy my sandwiches and feel good about it.
I think my favorite part of this video is actually the very confused looks on people's faces as they pass you in the bread aisle...
Lindsay Mayfield you see all the different employees and even a Mgr I think came to the aisle to see/hear what she was doing, acting like they were working
not sure if anyone cares but if you are stoned like me atm you can stream all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my brother for the last few days :)
@Achilles Kaysen Yea, I've been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :D
I have been buying Brownberry Sandwich Thins healthy multi grain. First ingredient is whole wheat flour....arg third is unbleached enriched wheat flour. But for my health issues this seems to be the best. Diabetes and heart disease. I am really learning so much from you. Thanks
So the multigrain sandwich thins are a great example of a product that uses "multiple grains"- whole wheat and white. It doesn't mean they are a bad choice, it's just good to be aware that refined grains are in them :) do what works for you! So glad you're enjoying the channel, thank you!!!
You are like my personal nutritionist! The most informative by far. Thank you!
That's so amazing to hear, thank you!! Glad the information you find here is useful for you!! :)
Every German watching this is like WTF are all these weird soft squishy squares they call bread? ;)
This is so informative! I think it was a couple weeks ago I did a grocery haul and was shocked that almost all the breadcrumbs had high fructose corn syrup in them. I didn't understand. This is such an informative video
+elizabeth medero thank you! I am so glad you found it useful! :)
Definitely need to double check and re-evaluate my choices! My boyfriend and I go back and forth on what to buy, this is going to help a lot! Thank you!
Kate Peak you bet! Glad you found it useful. I know there are a LOT of choices! It can be tough to sift through them all.
The hard part is finding one that makes us BOTH happy and that can be found. I've been looking for The Baker, so far no luck. I think we are going to have to just sit in the aisle and look at all the labels. I thank you for your dedication and knowledge!
I think it's also important to note that a long list of ingredients isn't always a bad thing. Some added things to the bread (like for colour) are ok but other dyes etc are not.
Hmm, I would personally rather eat foods that don't have colors or supplements added, and choose a more whole foods source where the breads original ingredients are providing the nutrition, rather than having to be added back in.
I'm notorious for using the 30 calorie bread brands, and this has really helped me "see the light." I'm hoping I can find your recommendations on bread in my local store this week. If not, I'll be looking at labels much more! Thank you!
Oh, and by the way... I LOVE your bracelets. I'm assuming Silly Bandz? :) awesome!
Yay! I'm so glad you found it useful and am looking forward to you finding nutritious alternatives!! and YES they are silly bandz... :-P I just can't stop wearing them! Those and hair ties are ALWAYS on my wrists!! :)
you are FANTASTIC! Coming from a nutrition student and aspiring dietitian, your information is not only accurate but very relatable and easily understood! I LOVE your videos!
+Shouk Mansour Thank you so much!

+Adriana Medina :) Absolutely!! Love your energy

We have been getting our bread from the bakery.... so much better... basic ingredients... no chemicals... Defiantly gonna try making the crumbs... Thank you!
smssr84 That sounds amazing! Definitely make your bread crumbs with that delicious fresh bakery bread, it will be fantastic!! :) Cheers!
this is a great video. Many people are so easily blinded my the big labels and automatically think its healthy. I used to do this as well. Good for you for educating people!
allyson kondorosi Exactly! It's so important to read the label on your own and learn how to determine if something is healthy without relying on claims. Thanks for watching girl!
Love love love this video!! So informative! I've been always afraid of bread but by watching this video I know now what to look for and how choose better for a healthier bread 🍞
Thank you so much for your positive feedback and support! Glad you found it useful! :)
buying bread had become a really pain the butt where i live, since my supermarket really only seems to sell two or three different brands and mostly being dominated by the hovis brand here in the uk. Needless to say the ingredients list is 6 years long and up until this point i only knew that you should buy wholemeal bread, not brown. Super informative video, and i'll be putting to tips to use next time i go shopping.
I am glad you found it useful, thank you!
I don't know how I found your channel but I am so grateful. Awesome personality, awesome videos, shared your channel on my Facebook and instagram. Keep up the great work. God Bless you
Cesar Torres Thank you! Your support means so much, welcome to the channel! :) Cheers
I use old bread and/or the crusts and then put them on the heating stove or on the window sill (sunny side) to save on energy :) (also it helps on not having to worry if you forget them for five minutes)
Sofie Marbais great idea!!
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! I wish I watched it earlier!!! I literally spent long long long time in the bread aisle trying to understand all the stuff in the bread!! Bread quality in USA is terrible. In name of progress and profit almost bread and other basic food products are industrialized.
+starspace this is so true, it's unfortunate!
Thank you!!!! This was so chalk full of helpful information!!!! Love your channel! My teenage son is watching it with me to learn:)
Awesome so glad this video was helpful for you, and that your son is watching, too!! :) :)
Baking bread is so easy and probably still the best.

+Lindsay Graham :) Thank you so much!! So glad you are enjoying!
I love using Silver Hills bakery bread they are an organic local brand that most of our grocery stores carry even Costco. Love the fibre and protein and whole wheat flour. We don't have a lot of your selections shown here in Canada.
awesome! You don't need much of a choice when it comes to bread, the cleaner the better :)
I was so happy you said such positive things about Ezekiel bread I Love Trader Joe's so so much!! And you're so cute love your energy and those bloopers! I'm so addicted to your channel and your amazing content!!

Hey there, I am a guy from France and I just suscribed to your channel when i saw your video to make no carb bread! I am looking for low carb food given I am working out and cutting in order to build lean muscle. You are awesome!
Awesome! Thank you so much. Happy to have you here! Welcome to the channel!
This was so helpful. I went to Trader Joe's looking for Ezequiel bread and found out they have a Trader Joe's line of sprouted breads. Thanks for the enlightenment on many subjects. I really appreciate all of the information as we've been dairy free for 1.5 years now and I'm always looking to add extra nutrition to our diet.
I'm so glad to hear that this was helpful for you! So cool Trader Joe's has their own brand of sprouted grain breads! It's awesome to connect with someone who's passionate about health and always looking to learn. So glad to have you in this community!
What we all should start doing is flipping around all of the loafs of bread (or other produce) in the stores lol. With the ingredient list on the front instead of the disgusting misleading marketing.. Love your videos and it still amazes me why we never got taught these (to me) basics in school or our children. I’m Dutch and I’m still learning from your videos about American products. Thank you and keep it up 😊
Love what your doing!!!:D I'm trying to think of good tips to include in my health and wellness stuff at work and I love what you talk about! Thank you for taking the time to share
Lauren Duran Thank you for taking time to watch! Glad you're finding them useful :)
Love how you go through the labels......I immediately grabbed all my bread products to check out how they compared. I already have the Ezekiel : ) glad to see you mention that one.
thank you!! I appreciate it!
I love Dave's Killer Bread. I try to get it day old because its alway so expensive. When it says 12 grains, they are all whole!

Hi, new subscriber here. Thanks for the tips on bread and that sucrose is splenda. I suffer from severe migraines and have noticed artificial sweeteners will cause a full blown migraine attack with me. Splenda is one that I avoid, but didn't know what its other name was. So thank you for giving me that tidbit. :) I am also trying to cut out natural sugar additives in foods so this video helped me there too. I am very happy to have found your channel, and will be doing a lot of scouring through your video archives. Thanks for being a youtuber and keep up the good work. :)
Treescanspeak that's fantastic! I am so glad you found this video useful! I think you'll find some of my newer ones useful in similar ways :) I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave such kind feedback :) Glad to have you here, welcome to the community!
I use almond flour instead of breadcrumbs! thanks for the tips for bread picking.
+C Pat awesome choice!
Yes. I. Do. 😇
What do you think about making crumbs from nuts? My fav is cashews. But Now I buy mixed nuts and use them as the crust for my cheesecakes.
love it!
These kinds of breads are known as white breads in my country. Bread to us is a bread made out of rye :) Yummy
+Laura Eimre awesome! The US is definitely a little bit ridiculous with our bread...
I love your chanel!! I love your personality!
Lola Velmar :) I really appreciate your kind words! Thanks for watching!
I found my Ezekiel bread but I was nervous because it was with the regular bread non refrigerated ahh! I reached all the way in the back of the row and found one that was still cool when I got home I put it in the refrigerator I'm afraid that store is going to ruin all that nutritious bread 😢
+nikki navarro no worries! It will be fine even if it wasn't refrigerated/frozen for a bit :)
Great episode!! I learned a lot this one!!
So glad to hear that, makes it all worth it! Thank you for taking time to watch! I know it was a bit long... :)
But enjoyable!! I always love the bloopers at the end. I don't know how you kept your thoughts together with all the people around and the intercom going off. Lol
***** Haha it was a struggle... there were so many bloopers where we were just cut off because of the intercom or people around! Just couldn't show them all. A market really is an obnoxious place to film! So glad you enjoy the bloopers! Thanks again!
thanks for the knowledge when it comes to choosing a bread.
+Lennen Logan you bet! So glad you found it useful!
Really good info. I do the same, i thought i was the only one doing that. my husband bugs me because i take long and i am constantly reading the nutrition labels before i buy anything. But hey, he cant complain because he is loosing weight.
Maria Garcia that's great! Yes, it is annoying that it takes so long to read the label, but these companies don't make it easy! It's like they don't WANT us to know what's in the food lol...
The other one not Ezequiel I like to change the one you said it has quinoa and others ingridients please. Thanks you know I am addict to your channel😜
+Liz Rodriguez Thank you Liz! I always look forward to your comments!
This was so helpful! Can you do or have you done a similar one for pasta?
thank you! I briefly touch on it in this mac and cheese episode but it's not as in depth :) ua-cam.com/video/lIfWLiv0ssw/v-deo.html
I just did these exactly the way you said to, but I hadn't watched this video yet, I was gonna come and tell you my new invention but you beat me to it! 😩😂😂😂
LOL so cool you came up with the same idea!! :)
Love love love this video !!!
Before this no-junk-food challenge, I wasn't aware how many sugar sources were in my bread. I need a new bread. I do enjoy my slice of toast each morning. I've eaten Udi's for years because it tasted good, had flavor options (all are tasty) was low in calories, doable carb grams, and gluten-free. I didn't look at much else. Now I'm wanting to eat cleaner. Time to go searching the gluten-free bread options.
Wow just bought some breadcrumbs like 2 days ago I’m feelin crunchy
Very informative! This is great! Thank you so much!
Danielle K My pleasure! Glad you found it useful :) Cheers!
Wow what an informative video on bread! Now that I know what kind of bread I should be looking out for, can you make a video on the type of deli meats that would be a healthier option to make a sandwich?! If you already have a video that discusses this topic you can refer me to that too 😊Thanks!
So glad this video was useful for you! :) I don't have a specific video dedicated to choosing deli meat, but I'll link a video below at the time stamp where I discuss some tips for choosing healthier deli meat!
ua-cam.com/video/RdiWuhtBHe8/v-deo.html
Ezekiel bread is often in the frozen foods section
Yes it is!
I loved this video! Thank you so much! I am now trying the Ezequiel bread! What is awesome about it is that we can freeze it to last longer and save money while eating a wholesome bread =)
Can you give me some advice about Almond Milk? I know the best way would be to make my own, but it is not very practical. I don't mind cooking and preparing anything, but the milk I think is way easier buying it. However, I would like to know the best option between the brands in the market. Now I use the Full Circle Almond Milk. What do you think about this brand or which one do you recommend? Thank you!
This video is amazing!!! After watching under spent a good half hour reading the bread labels. Lol Also I had no idea how to read labels in general so this haloed me out a TON!!! Ever since I only get the healthiest I can find. Thank you so much. Sucks tho because my Walmart does not carry Ezekiel bread. 😢 but thank you. These small changes help the body overtime. Atleast I would hope. Lol
Reeebekah23 Yes! Small changes will make a difference :) So glad you're finding it useful!
THANK YOUUUU!! I'd just learned ALOTTTTTT!!!
So glad!! :)
This was so helpful, thank you!
Yeah! Thank you for taking time to watch!
i still remember standing in the bread isle at the grocery store years ago for a half hour looking for wheat bread that didn't have HFCS.
Hahaha no wonder i never find the ezekiel bread anywhere. . Ive been looking where all the bread is at lol. Thankss!
Lau Rz lol! I did the same thing at first... ;)
"Good bread is the most fundamentally satisfying of all foods: good bread with fresh butter, the greatest of feasts!" -- James Beard. 🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞
love the quotes!
loved this video. I did not know a lot of this so thank you.
+Misscoolfinds thank you! Yes, lots more to it than many realize, glad you learned :) Thanks!

Great video, very informative. Thank you.
Laura Keane you're welcome! Glad you found it useful!
you can go to aldi and get the fit and active bread, for 2 slices, it is only 70 calories
nice! Love Aldi :)
can you do a review on morning star vegetarian meals
+Vajillian Dupree great suggestion :) Thanks!
Extremely informative!
Kandy Hill glad you found it useful! Thank you!
Thank you this was so helpful!
I'm glad to hear it! Thank you! :)
I eat Enriched Bran Flakes for cereal. Is that bad?
The ingredients list Whole Grain Wheat, Wheat Bran, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Salt, Malt Syrup, then a bunch of vitamins and minerals.
The corn syrup isn't healthful, it's another way of hiding processed sugar
Great useful information,thanks!!
thank you!
great video enjoyed it and very informative you should have a video of how to make the bread homemade
Stefanny Helena great suggestion! Thank you!
Mind Over Munch That was really useful!
I don't have much options like you do but I bought bread that contain brown flour + bran as first ingredients.. so is it wholegrain flour ? or a sneaky way to say white flour hehehe
+Raghad Abdul Aal And I searched a lot to find "whole wheat" in the ingredients and didn't find!
Is it possible that in my country whole wheat flour and brown flour are the same ?
great video.... I just moderate my intake on bread.. and I freeze my bread.. so , I'm not tempted to eat the whole loaf..
and know I'm on a gluten free and dairy free diet. not by choice. but getting used to it.
you're tips are great thank-you. can you do allot of vegan video's.
melissa salisbury Thank you! So glad you're finding the videos useful :) More vegan recipes to come!! :)
i'm starting to watch your videos and love it, thanks for all the information you gave.
i think i'll start eating healthier from now on :D
Thank you , Eric! I'm glad the information here is useful for you :) So happy to have you here!
I was just recently able to find an okay whole wheat bread where I live. Wheat is not grown in many places in this country and so whole wheat bread is rare. The bread I was able to find is STILL not the best as it has less than 4g of fiber per slice even though it cost twice as much as regular bread. I miss the breadbasket of the states!
40 calorie bread is LIFEeeee
:) very useful video!!! Thanks
Thanks for always watching!
Great insight and info
