  • Installation of Fralin "Blues Special" pickups on Telecaster "Build Project" wired with a 3-way switch. This wiring scheme is conducive to the change Fender made around 1966-67 and is still popular today. This scheme produces the following switch options:
Forward: Neck alone, with a tone control.
Middle: Both together with a tone control.
Bridge: Bridge alone, with tone control.

I just bought some wick the other day and will be doing this very soon. I want the toggle switch at the top, closer to my hand. I actually built circuit boards for a company years ago and can do this easily, I just have to make the time. I'm also going to redo the shielding since my last job of it kinda sux! Lol Thanks for this video, it never hurts to get some refreshing on info! I've read that some folks solder the ground directly to the shielding tape but I don't think I like that idea too much. A good ground is the most important thing in any electrical component and I wouldn't trust that.

Push the cloth shielding back, solder and pushing it back to the connection.
    Makes it really neat looking.
