what's interesting about red velvet cakes, is that because chocolate bars were more expensive in the 1930s, bakers used raw cocoa instead. the reaction in the cocoa to the acidity of buttermilk made the batter turn more crimson. while not insanely red like known, it's still kinda cool how the chemicals reacted into a color change from chocolate brown to a rusty color.

And use melted butter and real brown sugar. Maybe my eyes are messed up but it looked like they were using oil and Demerara sugar. Not nearly as yummy. And not traditional, but I add lime zest to mine which brings it up a whole level of deliciousness.
That 70`s cake comes from Germany originally, it is called "Schwarzwälder Kirsch", Black Forest Cherry cake (the Black Forest is an area in South Germany). It is still very popular in Germany.
@@patriciaarteaga658 that's true, but i meant it as 10 decades, as in he counts from 1920s, 1930, 1940, 1950, etc, to 2010s which comes to 10 decades of cakes. Thats the explanation i could think of but its true its officially not 100 years
Ummm that was up to 2010 and the last one looked the lest appetizing... Not to sound like a jerk, but you could've at least put in the name of the cakes, or shown the type of batter/icing/glaze you were using.
1930 cake looks very delicious and Wow baking cakes has change a lot throughout the years😊 What’s y’all favorite cake mine is Oreo cheese cake and Chocolate Cake❤
Why no labels of the cakes? I never thought that some of the cakes are really old recipes! 1920's - Pineapple Upside-down cake 1930's - Red Velvet cake 1940's - Carrot cake 1950's - Rum cake 1960's - Cathedral Window (is it really a cake?) 1970's - Black Forest cake 1980's - I don't know this one. But it looks similar to Sans Rival 1990's - Tiramisu (again, not a cake?) 2000's - Cheesecake 2010's - Entremet with Mirror glaze Did I get it right?

I'm sure you have experience. I want you to make cakes in shapes like mangoes or dolls, amazing shapes because your content makes me sleep and feel calm.
Never had tiramisu. Also I have no idea what the cake you made for the 80s is. In the 80s my favorite cake was carrot cake. We ate cakes from grocery store bakeries, so usually sheet cake and early 90s the cake I wanted more than any other was an ice cream cake. What is the cake you put for 80s? The name I mean? Also what in the world was that last cake???
Bom... Em fim continua sempre patrimônio cultural Brasileiro
The 1960 contender was not a cake, more of a dessert. You should have done a box chiffon or Angel Food cake. For the 80s, I would have chosen a flourless chocolate cake, which every restaurant served a version of.

that sounds waay more delicious than the version I find these days in bakeries.
@@m0t0b33these days they just use food coloring hardly any chocolate

Not really cooking, he isn't giving recipes or techniques, I have no idea how to cook anything he made over the last 20 minutes
While tiramisu may have been popular in the 90's, you didn't see single birthday party without a rainbow chip cake.
Brazilian carrot cake is better
Brazilian carrot cake with melted chocolate is much better
Try original Swiss carrot cake.

Pineapple upside down cake is best when made from scratch and baked in a cast iron skillet.😉

My favorite cake in your video is the Cheesecake. The best cake in general is the Millionnaire's Shortbread ❤
I like strawberry shortcakes, but also like anything with cream cheese or chocolate.
That Broken Glass cake from the 1960’s was made a little more sloppily than we made them back in day. It’s quite a showpiece when done right.
I have to point out. Is no one gonna tell him that 1920-2010 is NOT 100 years?
you count per 10 years, so he counts the 1920, 1930, 1940 etc. Thats how you get 100 years (10 x a decade).
THAT'S FREAKING 90 YEARS NOT 100. 100 is like 1920-2020 or 1910-2010
