    Hi Kate, this was the video I needed to see as my seed collection needs to be organized, big time. I love the look of the shades of aqua/turq of those boxes so sign me up.

    So glad I watched today! I have so many seeds and I’ve been quite frustrated as to how to organize them. I bought one of those seed organizer cases on Amazon- it has 60 little screw top bottles and within no time I realized it wasn’t going to work. Your new system is something I am going to try. Also, I had pondered doing a spreadsheet too but hadn’t decided on how to organize it- yours is great! Thanks so much! I’m afraid I’ve bitten off more than I can chew this year- I ordered way too many seeds!

      Ordering too many seeds seems to be a theme with us gardeners. 🤣 let me know how it works out for you! I secretly loved my little shoe box but it just wasn’t a long term solution.

      I know… and I sometimes forget what I have if I don’t take a moment to be with them! I have a big goal of planting at least half of this box. We will see what happens!

    I have used the photo boxes for my seeds for the past several years. I love them. I can take out just the boxes with the seeds I need for each project and they are protected from the elements. As a master gardener, I need to take seeds to the demo garden I volunteer at and it is so convenient. I already have 2 boxes, 1 for flowers, 1 for veggies but I need to get another as I am outgrowing my space.

      This is so good to hear. My cut flower garden is in the lower yard and I’m basically going down three flights of stairs to get there. I need quick and easy!

    I use this same organizer for my seeds also. I then use a dymo label maker and label the front of each box so I now what I have. I really try my hardest to use what seeds I have, but I think I’ll have to pick up a second organizer this season for my left over seeds. I’m really trying to use up what I have but it’s hard 😂

      The temptation is REAL. I’m so glad it’s working for you! I’m cautiously optimistic. I may have to do a little 1 year review.

    Thank you Kate for sharing your seed collection and organization! Lol 😂 I thought that sign said the same thing, must be my 49 yr old eyes or bad stigmatization. 😊 I’ve got the same organization boxes, I had trouble with the thicker packages and gave up on the tubes but I’ll give it a try how you turned them on their side. I used sticker labels which works really well. However, I’ve got an art brain so I struggle with putting things back. lol. Or just lazy brain. 😊I would love to see how you put containers together for clients. Is that something ya might be able to show when the season starts?

    • @HelloGarden
      @HelloGarden  7 місяців тому +1

      Oh I am SO glad I wasn’t the only one who read that sign wrong. 🤣 I actually thought of having a dump zone for seeds and then putting them all back once or twice per week but I think it’s a recipe for disaster. And I am ABSOLUTELY going to show you container design! I’m doing my pots this week and that video will be out Friday. 💕

    Loved this video. That green seed saver box was sold by burpee many, many years ago. lol, ask me how I know! Other than pots do you have any plans for metal raised beds? I have wooden one that are 10 years old and falling apart. Being 75 this year (in age ) I don’t know if I could handle putting one together myself. Love your new channel! You are very comfortable in front of the camera!❤❤

      You are a GENIUS!!!!!! I’m going to start searching to see if I can find one. Mine has a crack in the top and I have fingers crossed that it doesn’t grow.
      And I have gardened in SO many different ways. In-ground, wood, ceramic pots and even several types of metal! I love growing in metal. Maybe I need to do a full review of different bed types. I used a kid from Gardener’s supply about 13 years ago and was so sad to leave it when I moved. I’ve used stock tanks as well. Both are awesome!

    I enjoyed watching this. I also collect seeds and have many more than you. I do use the same organizers because I store them in my basement, and seeds stay viable. Quartet stock are branching and bloom for a long time. Territorial and Baker Creek have many varieties, and mine are under lights looking strong. Happy gardening!

      I just used a chalk marker that I picked up at a craft store. It’s already smudged a bit but I’m not worried. I’m going to use it for a bit and then use my p-touch label maker to make waterproof labels for it.

    Did you ever acquire a Roger's Seed Saver box? Just curious. I have so many seeds (I'm filthy rich-in seeds) that I had to go this same route. At first I had them all alphabetized and it took four cases. I tried something new last year and it almost broke my brain but I organized each case by time of seeding: BLF (before last frost), ALF (after last frost), BFF (before first frost), and then a few special boxes aimed at holidays. For example, today is Juneteenth, and my seed calendar reminded me to sow Buckwheat today. I regularly question my decision to organize by time of seeding because most people organize via alpha, but I found myself missing so many start dates and decided to try this method instead. I'm almost done with the reorganization of my backyard infrastructure, which has caused me to miss several planting time frames so I will need another full year to see if I should go back to alpha. Yes, I'm a supreme garden nerd and love that my life is consumed in this manner.
