      And Bird and Thomas destroyed Jordan for his first 7 years. By then, Bird was old and broken. Didn't last long at peak, but while he was there, he was the best of the best of the best. Destroyed Jordan's dreams. I was there in person to see it. ua-cam.com/video/RPEYJWODBGg/v-deo.html

      @@BillJohnston-y7o Context dude! MJ was playing literally against a squad of like 5 future hall of famers by himself! Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Danny Ainge, Dennis Johnson, Bill Walton, and so and so forth, whereas Michael Jordan took the Bulls to the playoffs on a broken foot. while having to fight his own organization, cuz they wanted to sit him out for the entire season, to tank to get a lottery pick! While playing with a bunch of drug addicts as his teammates! When your second-best players are Orlando Woolridge, and Charles Oakley of course you gonna lose! Even when MJ was clearly the superior player on the court on both teams, to the point where Larry Bird called him God disguised as Michael Jordan, that should tell you something! And I don't like saying this because I'm a Christian! Destroyed Jordans dreams? Seriously? Then why MJ went 6-0 in the finals when he got Scottie Pippen, who wasn't even an all-star in the 91 and in the 98 championships? And for perspective Larry Legend is 3 and 2 in the NBA finals! Why does MJ have 10 scoring titles to Larry's 0? Why does MJ have a DPOY, something Larry Legend doesn't? He didn't destroy anything from MJ's career! If Michael Jordan had had that type of help, playing with Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Danny Ainge, Dennis Johnson, and having Bill Walton coming off the bench, he woulda challenged and maybe even surpassed the great Bill Russell in championships! Did I even mention that MJ also retired, not ONCE, but TWICE, but he still went 6-0 in the finals? And I love Larry Legend, but don't be saying that "he destroyed Jordan's dreams!" That's totally wrong! !If anything tons of HOF from the 90s retired without rings, like Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, John Stockton and Karl Malone, and probably Hakeem Olajuwon, and Clyde Drexler woulda retired ringless, if it wasn't for MJ's early first retirement in 93!

    I'm from Athens, Greece, and I remember that I fell in love with the game of basketball as a kid somewhere in the mid-80s and that was because I had a friend, whose name was Marcos! He was a teenager at the time, and the dude could legit play. I was also friends with his two younger brothers, Nikos and Manolis who were more my age, especially the youngest one, Manolis, who was my age. But Marcos taught me how to play the game of basketball at the basketball court that was behind his house! And me and Marcos, we would always watch NBA, European, and Greek basketball. Of course, at first, I knew about the established stars of the mid-80s, like Magic, Bird, Kareem, Julius Erving all these guys. Marcos' favorite player was Rolando Blackman btw, who also played in Greece in his later years. But the first time I heard about Michael Jordan was somewhere in 1986 when my friend Dimitris Hasapladakis told me about this young, up-and-coming phenom! Once I saw him play I realized that Michael Jordan was Dr. J 2.0 because he had probably even more athleticism and, a similar playing style in terms of the excitement that they both brought to the game with their awesome dunks and layups, but MJ had a better all-around game! I knew immediately that MJ was great even before he started winning all those championships! To me, the most exciting part was going one-on-one on the break against a poor soul, and I'd sit back and be like what kinda crazy aerial assault will he pull on this poor guy? Plus, I probably loved more his defense than his offense, and that says a lot considering that we talking about a 10 time-scoring champ! I instantly became a fan! And when Greece won the European championship in 1987, everybody in Greece fell in love with basketball! You had courts and youth teams popping outta nowhere, TV showing tons of games, and even video clubs had NBA games! Every kid would buy basketball albums, and we'd buy sticker envelopes and then trade our doubles with our friends! My friends and I would buy sticker envelopes and then trade our doubles for missing stickers until we completed our albums! Every kid would also buy this Greek basketball mag, which in English is translated as "3 pointer!" Then I'd go to the United States and buy tons of NBA stuff from VHSs to jerseys and sneakers, and I'd invite my friends over to my house and watch NBA Superstars and I remember that when my Greek friend Neoklis saw Michael Jordan's incredible layup against the NETS where he faked Drazen Petrovic off his shoes and then he did a triple pump reverse layup against Derrick Coleman, Christ Dudley and Chris Morris his jaw dropped to the floor! And he was like, "Can you rewind it?" And of course, I did! Me personally, I emulated more Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, mainly because I couldn't play above the rim, but I could still incorporate MJ's fade-away into my game! I wanted to become the first Greek NBA superstar! It didn't happen, but I'm living out my dream vicariously through Giannis Antetokounmpo! And even though Michael Jordan is a smoker and an occasional drinker, he and everybody who was a basketball superstar back in the 80s and 90s taught me how to be a straight edger! Because back then my mentality was if I wanna become an NBA superstar and play for the Greek national team, that meant no smoking, no drinking, and definitely no drugs! And to this day at 47 years old, I'm still about that straight-edge life, largely because of the basketball superstars of the 80s and 90s! So thank you, Michael Jordan and the rest of the greats from the 80s and 90s for giving me a dream, and making my childhood and adolescent years so awesome! Thank you,, for everything, dear basketball! And above all thank you, God, for giving me an awesome childhood and adolescence, where you kept me away from booze, smoke, and drugs through basketball and its legends from the 80s and 90s, with MJ being the biggest, brightest, shiniest basketball superstar! Please keep blessing basketball and kids that had the same dream as I did, and please keep them away from sauce, cigs, and dope, as you did with me! In the name of Jesus Christ! Amen!

    I'm from Argentina. And as many know, here basketball is almost non existent in comparison to football. Yet, even as a kid... I knew who MJ was since I got to read, see and hear about him as cable TV started to appear. And alongside that, ESPN too. I probably was lucky to see the second 3-peat of the Bulls in motion and also to see the last game against Utah... And I still remember about it even when I was barely 10 years old.

    I started playing basketball when I was 12 years old because of MJ. Me and my friends were collecting NBA cards of MJ. I tried to be like Mike! It’s just like yesterday. We were playing the tournament when I was a teen. I did a lay up which was so impossible because there were 3 players who went up with me and I was so nervous that time that I could have been blocked. But the shot went in and I myself couldn’t believe how and what did I do that time. And after that play my teammates were asking me how did I do that? And I said I don’t know. It’s still in running in my head to this day. That was one of my best plays. Just sharing. But I really became good with my MJ fadeaways and post moves.

    I tell the kids I coach all the time ... that they just don't understand the fear that followed Mike wherever he went. There's no doubt in my mind that Lebron, Kobe... whoever are competing for 2nd place in the G.O.A.T. debate. You knew which teams were intimidated and didn't have the will to compete with Mike.
    The Lakers went into their finals with Jordan, fully confident Jordan couldn't win games by himself... that they had the advantage of better team play. Mike says challenge accepted... it's my time... watch this!
    Drexler's Portland tried to convince themselves they could win... that they had their own super dooper guard in Drexler... that they had the advantage of Jordan not being able to shoot 3s. Next day (literally) Jordan sets a new finals record in 3s and buries them.
    Barkley tried to convince himself that he could beat Mike... that "Barkley Ain't no Loser!". Jordan averages 41... game over! No rings for you.
    Sonics came in with Payton talking trash and Kemp jumpin' and jammin'... but, end of the day... it's the 72-10 Bulls. Jordan comin' back from his 2 seasons off, silencing the doubters. Jordan and Pip given Rodman and Kucoc to work with... Kerr knocking down the threes. No joke... best team ever... Golden State may have had a case, if they didn't drop the ball in the finals.
    Jazz were their most consistant competition... Detroit, Lakers, Suns and others put up a fight here or there... but, Jazz got to the finals... lost... then had the will to make it back there the next season. They pushed Jordan and looked like they might have had a chance. But, Jordan's Jordan... game on the line... it's the last dance... dagger!
    The Jordan Bulls were a travelling roadshow crushing teams and spirits wherever the went. Mike and Scottie complemented by a great rebounder in Rodman, second their players like Horace Grant and Kucoc... and otherwise pretty average players who were able to play their part in the offense. An all time great coach in Phil Jackson and an all time great offense in Tex Winter's Triangle Offense. 99.9% of current NBA players, basketball players in general and athletes in other sports dream of being like Mike.

    The difference between Jordan and the rest of the league at the time he played is that Jordan was one of if not the first hybrid player... he was polished... he was fluid!! He could handle the rock and shoot and dime drop like a guard and, was better than most at the time he entered the league, he could rebound like a forward, play better defense than most if not all of his peers, block shots like a center, fill the lane on the break, lockdown the other teams best player and still drop 40-50 on ya!!! Most of the "position" players of that era and previous era's were just that... they played their respective position but couldn't play all. Now just to quell the arguments I know Magic played all 5 positions as a rookie but he wasn't the same player Jordan was. Magic was the first gen "New type" player that could do more than most guards that played before or after him. But Jordan revolutionized being a dominant player. He was pieces of all the best players that came before him at every position all rolled into one and he took the league by storm!!! And let's not forget that he could fly!!! He didn't believe he could, he just did and looked good doing it too!!

      Yeah, especially if you consider that Ray Allen played against MJ; and LBJ, and he was LeBron's teammate in 2013, when he hit the biggest, clutches shot ever! If Ray Allen misses that shot LBJ has one less ring, Tim Duncan retires with a Jordanesque 6-0 in the finals, in LeBron's era, and T-Mac also retires with a championship. John Paxson misses that shot against Phoenix, and Steve Kerr against Utah, there's a game 7! And even though in game 7s usually all bets are off, what would favor the Bulls was that Michael Jordan came up huge in game 7 of the 92 playoffs against the Knicks, and in game 7 against Indiana him, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman stepped it up defensively! MJ is the best two-way player ever, and the GOAT!

If he played in the 80’s or 90’s he’d have had to play against 10 or 12 6’10” to 7’ guys who could compete with him both in agility and physicality - in the 60s there were only one or two and they weren’t nearly as skilled as Wilt.

      Wilt owns the scoring records without a doubt. While it's true that speed and agility are more highly developed than they used to be, Wilt could play in any era. Don't dismiss Wilt because of his era the way some people now dismiss MJ. These are both all-timers.

    • @rickbateman2401
      @rickbateman2401 5 місяців тому

      @@neilbakshi7365 I’ve never said that Wilt couldn’t play today, or in the much tougher 80s and 90s. What I said was that in the 80s and 90s Wilt would not be the dominant player he was in the 60s because there were a lot more big men in the league that would have been able to deal with him a lot better than anyone could in the 60s. People need to actually look at his stats - when the Wilt rules were brought in to slow him down, it did slow him down - a lot and the players in the 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond all had to play under those rules until they were opened back up again in the 2000s. Say what you want about Bill Russel or Nate Thurmond as defenders, they were giving up between 50 and 60lbs and 2 or 3 inches to Wilt. Wilt never faced a 7 footer that was even close to his weight and physical strength - he never faced a Shaq, Yao or Robinson. The difference between Wilt and MJ is that MJ would have been a super star in the 60s and he would be a super start in the 2020s. Wilt was a super star in the 60s and in the 90s he might have been a very good centre but he would have been on Shaq’s level - especially prime Shaq before he got fat.

The movie White Men Can't Jump came out during this time... I hated Jordon back in the day because his Bulls destroyed the Blazers in the finals. I mean, the Blazers had the best record in the NBA in the 92 season. I seen the game when he hit 6 3's in a row. I was heartbroken. I also seen the game against the Lakers when he did the dunk fake to left hand lay up (the spectacular move shot). I see all the G.O.A.T talk now a days and I do feel sorry for all the people who never got to see MJ play in games as they happened. MJ is, was and forever will be the absolute best Basketball player of ANY time. A freakin SAVAGE. LaBron is a superstar because MJ wasn't in the league. Imagine all the superstars of the 90's that were prevented being a superstar because MJ stopped them and wouldn't let them shine. LaBron is just another one of those players that would have been just an average player like all the rest if he played against the Jordon NBA.
