Dunno why steve from mine craft was a rumour seeing as gen 1 was out a decade and a half before mine craft, but to add to the discussion was that the fields was where prof Oak got the starters from so it was full of charmanders, squirtle a and Bulbasaurs
Steve from Minecraft was just me being sarcastic mostly :) But you’re not wrong about the starters: I recall that being a part of the rumour at one point too
At the time, I was told that if I beat the Elite 4 100 times that I would receive as secret HM (Blast) that would allow me to access this secret area and catch Pikablu lol
I think that the reason the same pokemon appears that in route 1 is because the game is weird updating the table of pokemon that can appear, when you enter a city the table isn't updated nor deleted, it's there in the memory, it just updates when you enter a route, so when you enter that patch of grass there the game looks for the pokemon that can appear and sees the last table it had loaded, this is the same way that you can catch pokemon from the safari zone in the water tile next to cinnabar island if the last place you have been (before cinnabar) is one of the safari maps
this would also likely explain why attempting to enter the grass before leaving pallet town causes a crash, as it would try to read null values from the table
@@SeptaGon7 no, there is a more technical explanation about that but basically you are out of bound (OOB) and the game crashes, the game allows some OOB areas but other crashes entirely after taking just one step into them
i went to re read why the game crashes, it happens because when you exit the town to the sides the game tries to load the next map, but because you are exiting the town through a side that was not originally intended the map it tries to load is a non existent one, it's just a null value
@@ConnersRetroOmnibus A lot people, I guess you have to have an artistic eye to notice it or common sense because rocks look completely different when in caves than trees in the forest. Why would Viridian Forest be full of rocks??

We weren't stupid we just had dreams 😂😂😂
I wanted to believe that if I fill my pokedex (just missing the starters) prof Oak would give me the one in the table 😂
It's full of mr. Mime. The real secret garden is behind bills house.

You know I think you’re right. I didn’t think about it too deeply at the time of recording, but what you say makes more sense :)

When the world is 8-bit, who can really tell?
