If you believe the reason for not building it was property disputes with "locals" you are an idiot. Chinese people do own shit ... CCP if they want to can take any land for any reason and kick their residents on street if the do not burry them alive while demolishing their home anyway! What I see as a reason is that this park would bring piece of west into the China and that is a simple reason why not to build it.
Ryugyong Hotel, North Korea. Standing 330 meters high with 105 floors, this pyramid-shaped skyscraper was supposed to be a luxury hotel, but construction stopped in 1992 due to lack of funds. Since then, it has been periodically restarted and stopped again.
It’s a shame the building allowed commercial signage on it’s exterior. It’s a blight. The signage could have been keep at ground level. It ruins what could have been a landmark building.
He literally tells you in the video what happens to all these places? Also clearly states abandoned mega projects meaning the initial purpose/project for the structure is no more. 🤡
Another great video and interesting stuff, I never knew these abandoned megaprojects without this amazing video, please make more video because this is amazing ❤
I would like to make a correction, Tempelholfer wasn’t the only airport during the Berlin Airlift, Tegel was also used towards the end of the airlift. Fun fact: Tegel had the longest runway in Europe when it finished construction.
You could also add the Khazar Islands. It's abandoned megaproject and artificial islands in south of Baku, Azerbaijan consisting of 41 islands extending 3,000 hectares into the Caspian Sea.
Hello i just founded your Channel and these videos seems Awesome and interesting. I've heared about that Japan abandoned Hashima island, its so mystic and interesting with full of mystery and History. I Am huge Japan fan and Japanese mysteries are truly amazing. Its sad The whole islands and Cities was Been abandoned after its long Life, i can see all The Japanese peoples and Their Life in that island. 🇯🇵
The Memphis Pyramid had a rocky history but seems to have ended up a success story in the end-although being a massive Bass Pro Shop hardly matches the grand inspiration behind the original conception of the project.
As a venezuelan, allow me a small correction. The strong syllable in Caracas is the second one, not the last one. It's pronounced ca-RA-cas, not cara-CAS.
Thank you for adding something of value to this comment section instead of just "muuh you pronounced my place wrong". I did it wrong before, now I know better.
Am i the only one that feels activision took a large amount of inspiration from hashima island in warzone. The original warzone rebirth map, obviously its very different but key points of interest and the general shape make me feel they designed it while looking at a picture of hashima. Mainly the far points of the island. the tin building in the middle of an empty parking lot on one end, a tall building with a small extension on the back at the other. The hills and the buildings lining the coast. Id bet money they rebuilt and changed it for the game
You should include Mirabel airport in Canada in your future videos. A huge investment to serve the city of Montreal. Airport was closed 20 years after inauguration.
0:30 North of "Wonderland Amusement Park" are also three interesting structures that seem to be abandoned (see Google Earth History): A large circular building, a large park area and some kind of small town city center recreation. There is a fourth structure further north that looks like a race track / urban town recreation (probably a training ground).
Maybe it's just me, but the non-abandoned Memphis pyramid doesn't seem to belong in a list of abandoned projects - since it's.... y'know.... not abandoned.
Growing up in Memphis, I remember seeing Power Rangers Live in the Pyramid. If I recall the pyramid itself is sinking very slowly due to the river bluff, which is why the amusement park could never exist there.
i think they made a movie about the life of forced labor in Hashima Island. it's called Battleship Island iirc. although it is not a 100% accurate, but it does show the harsh environment that the workers endured
14 Aug 2023 - Why does "Top Luxury" believe that it is necessary to have background "music" which is clearly audible while the narrator is speaking? Do you believe that what the narrator says is not enough?
Love the channel content but due to the high production quality, simple pronunciation errors really stand out...notably, Caracas is pronounced Ka-raw-kaass. Otherwise, this is a really good channel. Thanks!
I really wish all buildings and construction sites that have been abandoned for more than a decade, must be either sold to someone who is then held accountable to do something with the property, or simply demolished to make way for nature.
...and Tempelhof, and Tegel, and...who cares? Big deal. Everyone outside Venezuela pronounces it wrong. One commenter further up at least gave the correct pronunciation for us to learn instead of just yelling muuuhh, wrong!
Hashima Island, is probably better known by the name Gunkanjima, which means battleship island due to its resemblance to one at certain angles. Supposedly it was torpedoed by a US submarine in World War 2 because of the way it looked,
this video confused me some were some weren't abandoned and hoshima was just a mine that developed over time there are many more of such islands still in use i wouldn't call it a megaproject
Thank you for showing face and allowing me to mitigate suspicion of using a robo voice. I don't think you are deepfake, and if you are, well good job then.
Which of these megaprojects is the most interesting? Do you know similar projects?😌👇
I like the Memphis pyramid. I’ve been there a few times and it is so cool

@Top_Luxury 11:15 .... no, Kings Park in Perth, Western Australia is bigger at 400 hectares

And to this day it's still standing empty. I believe the North Korean government put about 30% of its GDP into building it.
These videos are always so interesting! Keep up the great work!

There is something evocative and affecting about these abandoned sites.

Awesome video Mr. Luxury! I watch these when I’m high and they always hit the spot
In my fictional world, all projects in this video already finished and successful
I love how when he talks about the history of Berlin Tempelhof he doesn't mention its critical role in the Berlin airlift!
Same here...and it wouldn't have been that hard to do.
@Top Luxury, noticed this before but your narrator and choice of music don't miss. They complement each other very well. Love binging these videos.

That story in Venezuela is incredible ….it shows you how just resourceful people can be if they had ….resources, and not necessarily money.
