Ancient Egyptian tomb opened for first time in 2,500 years

- Archaeologists in Egypt said Saturday they had found 59 well-preserved and sealed wooden coffins over recent weeks that were buried more than 2,500 years ago. They were discovered in the sprawling burial ground of Saqqara, the necropolis of the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The discovery of the coffins is the first major announcement since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Egypt, which led to the closure of museums and archaeological sites for around three months from late March.

@@ususa8052 what do u mean i didnt understood
@@chargedparticleaccelarator6665 Hi Karan. I mean, I feel like opening up the tomb of ANYONE, especially for cultural reasons, is disrespectful. These archaeologists seem to be obsessed with Ancient Egyptians of high ranking status. I have no idea what point they're trying to prove. All the top ranking Egyptians believed in a journey to the other world. That is the purpose of mummification. Commoners were buried or cremated. Your spirit does not 'die' with your body. It goes to the other world. They're going to disturb someone powerful enough to cause serious damage to them. If they haven't already. But also, they are probably exposing diseases that were buried thousands of years ago. In any case, that's why I said, cremation is on the rise because they're just making money off of someone who's gone already. Just my feelings.

One would think that Ancient Egyptians buried their dead with the purpose that they will remain buried for eternity undisturbed. Regardless or religion or culture, I hope their souls, Ka, Chi etc are still at peace. But then again, this sort of excavations have been going on in Egypt for nearly 200 years, such as Howard Carter's excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb, he could'nt wait to get his greedy hands on it...the tomb was opened to the elements, with many hands touching everything they can touch (but mind you, he did catalogued many artifacts, which assisted in learning about Egyptian society).

Its an interesting discussion. And it should be a discussion.
But if the people of Egypt decide to open it - I think they have a right as the culture most directly associated with the tomb. Also this is a very complex moral question - if we go too far in either direction we can be in dangerous territory. In extreme instances - we can be morally sensitive people but do not take enough risks to advance medicine, technology and our understanding of human history. It’s like being religious people that calls science ‘heresy’ - where would we be during this pandemic if we still think that way? On the other hand we can be so liberal with these things that we start experimenting with human bodies and corpses like the Nazis did.
This tomb is a grey area imo and i don’t believe we should be quick to condemn people for it 😊
Absolutely. There is no benefit to humanity by opening one of these coffins, and to remove them from what was meant to be their final resting places and place 59 of them on display is totally disrespectful. Honestly, someone back in that time was genius enough to figure out how to preserve a supposed "decomposed body" to an almost looking perfect condition. Bravos to those scientists.
Guys, it isn’t about desecrating these mummies. It takes about a 5 second google search to find out how bad the grave robbery is in Egypt and in the Middle East in general. There and so many, some up to three thousand, four thousand years old. These are also so old, nobody really has the rights to them. And sadly, the dead do not have a say what happens to their bodies, or their belongings. Personally, I like to see mummies in a museum, rather than destroyed by grave robbers.
If they wanted their bodies to be displayed they wouldn't have sealed their coffin like this and buried deep inside the earth.Atleast let the dead have some peace in 2020 🙄.
They seal the coffins to preserve their bodies to last the amount of time that they did because they probably knew way more knowledge than what we humans have learned about life thus far and see that if they preserve knowledge to pass onto humans later on centuries down the line humanity can use that knowledge to better evolve. Who cares what knowledge they pass on or what items they kept in their tomb. Everything happens for a reason and never by chance. So life is showing us this moment for a reason.
Truth is these coffins were moved from their original burial chambers due to grave robbers in ancient times.

The reason they did this is because the tourism in Egypt has dropped, and they want to get more attention by making a spectacle out of delicate artifacts from ancient people they aren’t even related to. However this is super dangerous for the items, because they’re are getting exposed to the degrading and contaminating properties of outside air, the exposure of a large number of people without face coverings, the sweat and finger oils of people who are not waring gloves, and people who are not respecting proper methods for maximum preservation. It’s all about the media attention to them. These coffins should’ve been taken to a sterile scientific Laboratory under special light, temperature, and humidity conditions, immediately put under a three-year irradiation process (to prevent the mummies from decomposition and kill all possible bacterial growth), x-rayed/put under MRI or whatever, and THEN MAYBE opened within a sterile room, by top experts with full body suits and gloves. That would’ve been the most ideal situation. But of course this is Egypt. You’ll find that every time tourism goes down they just so happen to find a new mummy to open.

From what I assume the wooden coffin would've been for someone of a lesser status, compared to the gold and/or stone of pharaohs. And there was a rope barrier, the crowd seemed respectful and kept their distance. I swear ya'll full of bs
Yeah your right u was thinking samne
I would love to see someone try to dig up the bones of European royalty.
Facts! 🤣😂
Like princess Diana 🤔
HAHAHAH FACTS
This isn't about race, lmao. Researchers and archeologist can't give two shits who they dug up. Point being that we need to understand history, not to mention that those people were long dead before you or I were even born.
Visible confusion, I do have plenty of books mostly relating to the study of Egyptology, thank you very much. I don't think insults will get you far in a civil debate. I'll ask again, how is this about race? Please do provide me with a logical and unbias answer.
These guys clearly didn’t watch “The Mummy”
It’s crazy how they disturbing the peace of those souls or even messing up the reincarnation process they believe in. They just saying it’s okay to dig up anybody’s coffin.
💯
After 2,500 years its okay
Dont think all the cremated people in the air and water care they are part of people digestive track.
Really Amazing...! How come coffins looks new even after 2500 years.
Why disturbing someone resting in peace. That too in 2020
Arabs invaded African land claimed theirs..
@@eyezarc1239 true as we can see most pharaohs were dark skin...the hamites.
How do you he’s in peace?
He was still inside the chamber right😂
Was anyone else waiting for the bugs to erupt like the first Mummy Movie 🤣
Everybody gangsta until Tutankhamen starts pulling up gang signs while coming out
You reckon he is a blood or a crip?
PLEASEEE GANG SIGNS
@@yeahyeahbootybitch3826 he Latin kings cuz of all the yellow
I can just imagine all of them being the Akatsuki and destroying the world and be like *thanks stupid humans for reviving me from the dead*
😂😂
Why do we feel the need to open these? Rest In Peace.
It may just be me but I’ve always found the thought and look of Ancient Egypt quite haunting and scary
Kinda me as well. We might uncover something we shouldn’t have.
Yeah but history is full of darkness
If you are all so mad about " disrespecting dead bodys" then never go to the doctor again. How do you think modern medicine came to be?
yes you are right
Modern medicine is doing worse than herbal medicine( it always depend on the individual's body compatibility to the medicine given), nothing but man made substances with too many side effects, I say let the mummies Rest In Peace.
There's literally no need to open them with technology being able to see inside without needing to open.
Humans: What's inside this 2,500 year old coffin?
Coffin: *contains dead body wrapped up*
Humans: *Surprised Pikachu face*
Imagine someone going into your own grave and someone opening up your casket
I would rise up and say ( be gone )
I mean...I'd be dead, what would I care 😅
I'm being cremated but I wouldn't mind cuz I'd be dead. Maybe they could learn something.
@ I'll do all that just for you.
Imagine chilling in your customized tomb and you wake up to some people violating it and excavating it for research 😐
Imagine caring. You would be dead. You wouldn’t even know.
@@BiggyC-dh2kn Yes they would.
@@skylovermc2146 How would they know? They are dead.
Proud of you Egypt my home country greetings from USA
The color is so amazing. I can't wait to hear about there stories of who they are and the descendants to the blood line. Amazing find for sure.
Actually these archeologists are doing great things. We must know all our ancient history. What must have happened before thousands of years. And only this can be found in Egypt. Was there any extra creatures before?
Humans don’t get enough by corona , they wants something else hardcore
We even dont real know what we want
No stone unturned....
Makes me sick / I hate humans we are a disgrace 🤢😡
During the journey of life, everyone goes through times of failure, pain and suffering. However only those who have the guts to get up and continue with their journey, emerge victorious. Greetings from the royal home! Where are you commenting from? PRINCE FAZZA BIN Mohammed
@@princehamdamfazza7154 well said👍
Imagine to have lived and died, and be put to rest according to your theological beliefs, only to have a bunch of jackasses with cameras unearth your remains centuries later and put them on display for the entire world to ogle. Smh. No wonder they put curses on tombs.
Damn you telling me curses are real 😳 no way , you can get put to rest too ?! 😳 they have remains centuries after they died too?! Didn’t realize that the dead body doesn’t erode away 😳
They are dead they dont care.
Word of note, these Egyptians opening these caskets and living in present day Egypt are not even the Egyptians of Ancient Egypt. They are Arab arrivals of a later time.
I was thinking the same. Arabs conquered Egypt and now is officially called Arabic Egyptian Republic.
@@kemet8819 Well this is beyond false and not telling the full story lol. Pale skined Mordern Egyptian from the north have a very mixed geno including Turkish, Greeks, French, Persian (DNA due to invasion) not just arab when you travel south to Aswan and Thebes the majority are very much dark skined Africans . Because you don't study nile valley history you would say it's a medertarian "civilisation" as every scholar knows all the nobles (leader class) found and tested were haplogroup E1ab1A/em2 DNA commonly found amoung in subsaharan bantu-speakers. These dna finding are by the same people in this very video "UNESCO and Dr Hawas" the study on remeses 3rd and his child along with the armana mummies. If you go to page 2, on the right hand side, paragraph above discussion it says ir right there www.academia.edu/2308336/Revisiting_the_harem_conspiracy_and_death_of_Ramesses_III_anthropological_forensic_radiological_and_genetic_study .plus the darkskin mummies are right infront of you lol.
@Memphis Girgis Atrees ⲣⲙⲛⲕⲏⲙⲉ What your doing is telling a tinny portion of the story to people that don't know the full story 😂 the ancient Egyptians were conqured by the Assyrians hyksos then kicked out in the middle kingdom conqured by the Persians and the Greeks in the new kingdom for almost 1000 years most indiginous kemetian migrated south into kush like the beja nuba dafur tribes and some tribe moved west like the igbo, Ashanti, dogan tribes to say a few. This is evident as the nobles DNA tested came back E1b1a a haplogroup found in subsaharan africa not the lavent or south Europe. Again go to page 2,right hand side, paragraph above disscussion www.academia.edu/2308336/Revisiting_the_harem_conspiracy_and_death_of_Ramesses_III_anthropological_forensic_radiological_and_genetic_study . I let the scholarship talk.
@Memphis Girgis Atrees ⲣⲙⲛⲕⲏⲙⲉ This shows you lack the scholarship of the times of antiquity as You would know the population of the kemetians were alot smaller around 1.2 million this itself shows migration over time as now their 100 millions people living in Egypt today. Africa has the most complex migration patterns in the world meaning people were constantly migrating for thousands of years this is shown in their Dna. So let me get this straight the Greeks that's migrated into egypt they didn't settle, the hyksos didn't settle? The tamahu didn't settle? What about the slaves that were brought in i.e slavs, Assyrians etc they didn't settle? People didn't flee during invasions ? Common bro stop. The nubians and the kemetian were the same people genetically as the Egyptian in their own words say they come from the south some took forgien wifes but not the bulk. The kemetians and the nubians were culturally different with minor differences like anywhere as the DNA of every noble found and tested cames back e1b1a (em2) the haplogroup found in subsaharan Africa that is including west Africa bro, wheather you like it or not. They couldn't get the X chromosome but the Y chromosome i.e the forefathers were closest realated "so called" to bantu speakers today.
@Memphis Girgis Atrees ⲣⲙⲛⲕⲏⲙⲉ I'm done loool bro your using different art from different time period to compare differences, and do you know what's crazy you don't even know what your doing. www.ancient-origins.net/news-history-archaeology/burial-sites-show-how-nubians-egyptians-integrated-communities-thousands-020845 as you can see here their they same people lol this is why the DNA of remeses the 3rd forefathers are E1B1A (em2) found only in bantu speakers the documentation is litteraly right here. Page 2,right hand side, paragraph above discussion www.academia.edu/2308336/Revisiting_the_harem_conspiracy_and_death_of_Ramesses_III_anthropological_forensic_radiological_and_genetic_study This is done by the leading Egyptologist. Why does this get you mad?
