Hey Rico, good question. I've felt pressure to learn those etudes from great classical guitarists. I would put pressure on myself to learn stuff like that if I choose to become a professional, which I'm on the fence about.
I've been playing for 2 months. I often feel like I jumped into the deep end when I've never even seen a swimming pool before. So far I don't even feel like I can play a song. I can't change chords fast enough, even just a few of them. I'm still trying to figure out where all the notes are. My fingers don't work. I'm interested in what someone is noticing after 29 years. Any little hints for this newbie?
That's great that you've started the process. It can be very helpful to get a private instructor. Having a pro see and hear what you're doing is invaluable. If you're interested, I offer private lessons. Besides what I shared in the video, playing becomes even more fun over time.
@@TysonGraf thank you! I am taking private lessons, but he covers so much each lesson! I go to UA-cam for clarification (and my son who plays multiple instruments. ) Actually, it's kind of funny, because guitar is not one of the instruments my son plays, but after each Lesson I tell him what we worked on. Theory..... he nods and explains it to me. Skills sets, he does it once or twice and has it. So frustrating for me!!! LOL For reference, I am 55 playing my 1st instrument. My son is 16 with 11 years piano, 10 years violin, 6 year 5 string Viper, 5 years viola (now and then.) Apparently adding guitar is easy for him. He practices 1/10 the hours I do and gets just as far. (Farther.....his chord shifting seemed .... effortless. )
Was the pressure to learn Sor's Etudes coming from yourself?
