I play Tracer and Sombra, so honestly, I don't usually see other Tracers much unless we 1v1 (and I need to practice the Tracer mirror so I tend to avoid it unless I know they're worse than me), but this game really made me realize how annoying we are. It's glorious.
the matchmaker averages the estimated rank of all players of your team, and all players of the enemy team, and estimates an expected win rate based on the difference of these averages. so if you, on average, still win games the matchmaker expected you to lose, evaluating on your assumed rank, it realizes that your true rank should be higher for such a win rate to be reflective of the data, so it gives a rank boost. winning uphill battles often is basically saying that, it thought you're bad, but youre actually really good, and its adjusting for you. of course, the fact that this game was also a steam roll means either your individual impact was incredibly high, or that the matchmaker is like, really wrong about everyone's assumed ranks. or that trying to analyze the chaotic and unpredictable consequences of the countless factors that go into an overwatch game is beyond the scope of the matchmaker, so it just trusts that evaluating only on win rate will be good enough. which it is, over a well-sized data pool of games played, but it will lead to a lot of outliers, such at this game.
