Their designs are actually really mature, they almost dress like the Sex in the City characters mixed with Disney Shake it Up or specifically that era of Disney where they are dressed in layers upon layers and patterns. It doesn't mesh quite well with their youthful screenings. One jarring issue is the lack of paint details for the accessories... $30 for flat colored accessories.
Someone on Reddit said they dressed like a Ne-Yo video vixen and I couldn't stop laughing at that. If they were meant to be in their late teens/early 20's then I don't think they nailed it here lol.

I love Sex and the City though! One of my all time favorite shows. 😂 I just don’t know how that era of fashion will sell currently…

Love how people where creating distracting messages* about the lack diversity of guests in attendance at the in person pr event, but when a talented black creator puts their time and effort into making a solid review - where are they? I hope this video blows up and gets the attention it deserves!
    * ( instead focusing their message at the brands and it’s employees not people who were guests and couldn’t of know the guest list or full intent of the brand- it’s an important subject that needs to be communicated throughout all of society- I understand where the emotions were coming from but Twitter got messy with it )

Unfortunately, I don’t know what happened with the in-person event. I was not invited or even aware of it.
However, what I can say is, Far Out Toy’s made more of an effort on inclusion & diversity than Mattel or MGA. I can say they AT least made an effort to send PR to more than just ONE black creator. Like I said, I can’t speak to what happened with the in person event or their intentions, but I’m not mad this go round. 😂💁🏾‍♂️
Conversations about how black content creators are treated in this space definitely NEED to be had. But without knowing the full story about this instance, we can focus on the bigger fish that need frying…

They sure are giving these out for free. I too get free dolls for being a Amazon Vine member. The one that i got that retailed for the most is the 65th Brooklyn Barbie. Not a fan of the fashion and all the plastic yellow jewelry and belts. Harper has the best outfit because it doesn’t have a crazy print. I wonder if they did market research with kids.

Their outfits are so clunky and outdated looking. Someone on Reddit said they look like a 2005 Neyo video vixen 😂
I’m glad you were honest. I’m not buying that all the influencers that got these all have rave reviews. Come on now.

Considering that they apparently work at a fashion magazine and are adult characters - or at least intended to be older than teenage girls - I think the clothing makes sense. I love Harper's romantic dressy looks - the isabella madrigal fashion pack is my FAVE - and can appreciate Brooke's concepts even if I shy away from doll pleather personally. Londynn is the one I ended up with first and adore her while Autumn I feel on the fence about for the pricing.
I don't think the fashion is bad or wrong just, as you said, not your taste and the quality is clearly being put in the right places so I'm happy to support them.

Im not feeling this line… the screening is very decal-ish and the clothes are very 2008-ish.
No painted details at all on the accessories… for $30 plus tax I don’t see the value.

‘boho chic’ was literally my idea of goals in 2004 so….. this is probably going to be trendy with gen alpha… in a couple years. we may still be at the point in history where this isn’t considered trendy? very dated if you’re a millennial, and for sure late gen z.
there is obviously a lot of thought and luv put into them though, and l respect that. there was a fully-fleshed idea here. they almost give me collector > playline vibes.
edit: fashion is always subjective. i was just referring to trends as i’m into that stuff 😊

Sadly, I don’t like their faces. The design of the clothing is definitely outdated. Who wears “boho chic” these days? The two positives are the nylon hair, which isn’t rooted as well as I would like it for restyling, and the articulation. Additionally, the dolls are shorter than the usual 11 inches for fashion dolls so exchanging outfits isn’t possible. The price is high. One doll and a fashion pack will run over forty dollars. All in all, I am not impressed.

I would love to see success for a line from a smaller company and a former Mattel designer. However, I'm not loving these. First of all, I don't like the faces much. They are neither exaggerated like Rainbow High, LOL, or Bratz, nor are they more realistic like Barbie. Also the flat eyes for the tampo process just make them lack character.
Second, I think the dolls are too small to carry off those layers, even if they weren't dated. It would also be a plus if the clothing could be shared with Barbie-sized dolls like the ILY 4ever clothing can.
Third, the accessories and jewelry are too chunky and cheap-looking.
Finally, yes, I guess the fashions are dated. I don't know fashion very well, but most of these look kind of boring to me, and I'm old. I would probably wear some of them, and that's not a good sign for a fashion doll.
Again, it is really too bad because there are many good points, but a new doll line has to be rock-solid to succeed against Mattel and MGA these days. I don't think the main target for these is kids: they seem to be going after more of the older kids/adult market. In my opinion, they lack some style and sophistication for that market, without the fun of kids' dolls.
