    I love your tours of conventions. It's a great way to expose folks to terrain styles that wouldn't necessarily show up on your channel. Cheers!

    Great to see you giving some love to the more basic greenfield tables. The massive, master modeller spectaculars are all very nice, but can be intimidating and offputting to those just starting out. I'm never going to be able to build a table THAT nice! And something like that is not going to be practical for rtegular weekly games at the wargames club. But the simpler tables show you can produce something pleasing to the eye thats still very practical and portable and gives novice terrain builders something achievable to aim for. And you never know when one might have a briliant idea you can nick (like using bathmats for micro-scale forests)

      The high end tables are great but they are limited in use. Where do you store it? What periods and scales can you use it with? Nicking good ideas is always a good thing. The bath matt is briliant.

    Thanks for the great footage of our game - Which is the Hundred Years War Game at around the 23:36. The Church & City Walls are all scratch built pieces rather than resin cast items. The smaller houses outside the walls are all Hudson & Allen Buildings on scenic bases. Trees, Roads and Rivers all by Debris of War. The Mat started life a Killing Fields Terrain Static Grass Mat, but was heavily reowrked by us as it was originally too dark and did not have enough grass on it. Alas they are no longer produced. The closest product to it these days is the 'Fake Moss' used in interior design. Another similar material you can use is certain kinds of hanging basket liners, but they tend to be much smaller in size and you need to patchwork them to cover a larger area.

    One of the best show vids like this I've seen because you give a chance to focus on the tables. Would love to see more closeups of particularly well made terrain features and painted minis. Thanks for the channel!

    I know nowt about wargaming, being more into dioramas, hopefully soon to show my first attempt.
    These were awesome in their "decoration"
    9'30" - that topo board REALLY brings out the hardship in battles.
    Boondock and Dave Marshall - totally brilliant!
    24'00" - another out of this world board.
    Even as a non gamer I can pick up so much from this.
    Cheers Mel!

    Glad to have you back at the shows Mel! Recently we have had to rely on people with Parkinsons holding cheap phones running up and down the aisles (queue motion sickness). One request for the future - can you take a snap of the info at the end of each table that shows who, what and what rules are used? This helps those of us who love what we see but could not be there to ask questions. Otherwise perfect.

    • @butsutekkai1
      @butsutekkai1 2 роки тому

      With the caveat that I've not done anything that big, If it helps, in my experiments with fitting other model kits to 28mm, you might want to look at either 1:35 or 1:56. It depends on the model I find, some scale better for what you want. Although I will say there's a degree of artistic licence and personal preference, I haven't gone for true scale, just something that looks right to the eye.
