Wow how cool is this! He created his own shorthand AND can speak backwards??? That's truly amazing. Y'all have such an incredible gift with languages! He seems like such an awesome person too ☺️
It's basically shorthand writing. I know that English, French and German have their own standardized shorthand. It had been taught in Germany at certain schools in the past, but nowadays even that one would be a secret code to most people. Very cool that both Lindie and her dad have developed their own unique shorthand writing!
1. Yes you look like your dad and it really can be seen in his younger photos. 2. I think your love and aptitude for language comes from him. 3. His backwards and invented writing is amazing! Thanks to you both for sharing this. You two are very sweet together.
Your father is amazing!!! What a wonderful and fresh/innovative way to experience languages! I really enjoyed seeing you two together in this video, I hope he is back some other day in your channel ^^
Your dad is amazing!! And you both are geniuses in your own rights! Would love to see more of you and your dad on your channel, if you both dun mind and time permits. Your dad is very endearin and seems to have lotsa fun stories to share... 😉
wow, your dad is sooooo cool !!! I'm impressed. Also, the interaction between you and your dad is so loving, it's warming my heart. You have a lovely family. Thank you for sharing this with us. 💕💕💕
This was such a sweet video! Your dad is absolutely charming and so clever. I enjoyed all his stories and find him quite interesting! It's lovely to see the similarities between you two re: languages :)
Hearing y'all speak in Afrikaans in the bloopers was great. The language sounds so nice - a good mix of staccato and rhythmic. I want to add it to my collection 😁
I love this video!! 😊 Your dads creativity is amazing & it was incredible to see the language he created 👏🏼 so sweet to see the love of languages with both of you!
Thanks so much Lindie! This was an awesome video! Your dad is brilliant and down to earth! I love his humor! He seems like he would be a super cool person to hang out with and learn from! Such an amazing video!
I also used to create my own languages in code when I was younger. Your father's language is much better than the ones I created. You and your dad are so cute together!
This was so cool and sweet!!!! I think your father reminds us of the joy of learning, and how it could and should be fun and entertaining. I remember when I studied Latin and classical Greek with a friend we took notes in hiragana, but we wrote it backward just for the fun of it 😝 Obviously, you inherited his talent for languages 😉
I also lost my mom (1 1/2 year ago) and I have visited my dad only twice since then . He lives in another country and I miss having great conversations with him. I call him every week though. So sweet seeing you with your dad Lindie
LIndie you are so modest you will deny this, but there is clearly some sort of genetic connection in your lineage with language- i"m at the part where you dad for "fun" designed his own langugage- I do think we inherit gifts from our parents. My dad for example never drew- I'm from a third world country but my 1/2 bro on his side drew beautifully, as do I, other siblings not on dads side do not draw or paint. How do I know dad was "artistic" as I said he never had opportunity to study art, but he would notice beauty around him the way and artist does!
Oh Lindie your Dad is so lovely! So fun and funny! He reminds me of my old code writing days. My friend and I in highschool made a code that looked to us like Arabic. I got fluent at writing this way and took notes in my code. One day my teacher saw me writing this way and I almost got in trouble. I told him what I was doing and he challenged me to read it. I'm sure he thought he'd caught me just fooling around but I read off my notes and watched his expression change to shock 😲. Wish I still had that code However I am now learning Farsi and get to learn the real Arabic script! 😁😁😁😎
I love this viideo it was great to watch you and your father sharing such amazing talents it was really fun!!! And now we know where you got your languages talents from, thank you Lindie for another wonderful video
This reminded of me and a few friends when we were 13 creating our own secret codes (written korean) and writing letters to each other. This was to avoid an inspection of our teachers and parents. Lol. I loved this vlog with your dad!
this video is fantastic super fun and enjoyable to watch also valuable it would be amazing to see more conversations like this in the future if we want to learn that secret language can you upload the code for us so we can take notes faster
Sometimes just for fun I speak some words backwords but you two are awesome. German backwards sounds somekind of strange but two me Afrikaans or Snaakirfa sounds like a rare Swedish Dialect to me. Strange that this video pushed my will of becoming a polyglot and be Open for "secret languages".
Hi Lindie! I greatly enjoy your videos, keep on going! As a Dutch person, its so fun to hear you speak Afrikaans, its so similar! I would love to get into some Afrikaans more... do you happen to have some reccomendations of study materials?
Well, I'm reluctant to even post this, but the lieutenant once grabbed my book when he saw me furiously scribbling away in it. It baffled him and he hurled it back at me, sneering, “Botes is besig met fokkenskrif-kakskryf.” I'd rather not translate that last sentence in Afrikaans, but that was the closest anyone ever came to giving the script a (rather unflattering) name.
Willem Botes, haha! Love your comment! This American understood that perfectly :-). I was going to recommend AfriBotes maybe that's too plain...more like Bakgat Botes. You should present this to the ATKV, they need a little shake-up (personal opinion) :-). Or write an article about it on Litnet, blerrie slim -- how you used the language to create your own dialect. That to me summarizes what I personally love about the Afrikaans language; the health, in general, of any language. My voordeur staan altyd gereed vir n' kuiertjie, as jy ooit in Denver is.
