So you posted a video with a question on who could beat who but no score? No way for viewer to tell? Cherry picked points edited in random sequence and no context? Great job. Oh thanks for the scoreboard will be on next one top gun. Which one? Never seen one.
The junior was impressive. From the editing, good footwork/fast around the court including very good defensive play, more varied play - looking to serve/volley, more aggressive/accurate, and a solid serve for his size. Not sure the D3 player came onto the court with the same level of intensity - he was quite lenient with some of the early line calls. From the comfort of my arm chair, heavy top spin to the kids backhand rather than flat ground strokes would have been the play and some first serves.
They both had really solid games. The D3 player should have the physical advantage w weight of shot etc but the jrs technique allowed him to hit and match the pace off both wings. That's the thing UTR's typically don't lie. The antiquated USTA 1.0-7.0 stuff should die peacefully. However the D3 player was super generous w calls early on. 3 min in and he played 4 out balls.
@@jm7804Haha you're dense. I'm rewriting it from the positive direction, "it'd be much better vs it really brings down". "really gotta" is slang. the wording is otherwise identical to yours Your suggestion has an unnecessarily arrogant negative twist
You can say they are both good at everything in tennis. But the junior stands out with his forehand: very good form and body mechanics to generate power.
Blue has quite a future ahead of him. Pink needs to develop a dominant shot and use it to get forward. He was getting blue in trouble from time to time with deep heavy topspin forehands to blue's backhand, but he wasn't anticipating short replies as opportunities to move forward the way blue was. Also, that serve for pink is simply a point starter...start thinking of it as a point ender...serve needs a complete overhaul.
@@jqred6306 Oops.. I misread the original comment. I was talking about the college player not the junior. I thought the other guy meant that the college player has a chance to play on the tour.
@@MostLikedComment123 He doesn't have to prove it. I played D3 college tennis four years, and I can guarantee the kid in blue is already better than most D3 players I've seen.
Actually at schools like Emory in Atlanta and Gustavus Adolphus, they have players that would smoke a lot of D1 players. Eric Butorac played D3 at GAC. He only got to a career doubles high of #18 in the world though..... Not as much of a difference in talent at the top schools of any division as you would think. Nothing like football or baseball as far as college sports go.
30 years ago at one time played #1 singles at a good D2 school. Of course a nationally ranked junior could have beaten me. Heck Nadal won an ATP match at 15
Based on power, not much difference. But the junior's control is very very good. Look how he hits cross & angle with the ball passing the singles line first. That's the key to open up the court
Honestly that's just today's tennis in general they all some what play the same. Two handed backhand same baseline stuff. Thousands of players that all do the same thing. Even on the ATP or pro circuit only difference is they go for more and move a little quicker.
I played against someone like that short ittle kid in a regional USTA tournament. He was around UTR9 and I couldn't get the better of him playing my normal game, but then I started playing deep moonballs that bounced over his head and as it was indoors he couldn't go far enough backwards. He didn't know what to do and just disintegrated after that 😂😂
Wait that's a really weak d3 conference. I had a peak 10.44 utr this year playing d3 and i'm playing 3-4 at my team rn. Technically i did get all conference this year too and was a freshmen this year
First the question is flawed. A UTR 10 is not a top D3 level player….. there are so many levels of D3 tennis, you have from literally 5 UTRs playing d3 all the way up to 13… these 2 players have the same UTR so the match is gonna be close one way or the other…… so you can’t generalize the question asking if a top 75 Jr can beat a d3 player? Most of the top 75 jrs in the country in the 18s are gonna be higher UTR than a 9.8, so what’s his age and actual ranking….and that d3 player would get waxed by a top d3 player like anyone ranked in the top 70 !!! For instance the # 1 player on the #1 d3 team in the country is going to play for the University of Virginia next season, major D1 program……. There are just so many levels inside each division you can’t ask a general question like that
Yea, agree ... I played D1 at a big school and there were so many different levels of players. The college kid here would have a tough time playing NAIA in CA. Junior is a really solid player.
you both play pretty well. Instead of committing to so many long shot rallys id rather have drop shot him way more. You played a style he seemed to be extremely comfortable with :)
Impressed by the kid depending on his age, looks maybe 14s? Has a mature finishing game. Pink wouldnt have gotten a spot on my high school team lol but we did have 5-7 nationally ranked players during my time there, depending what you define as ranked. Pink doesn't have enough weapons, and his footwork (and conditioning?) seemed especially lackluster. His short returns on what looked like weak serves (compared to top juniors or college players; its a good serve for blue's age group) would get him rolled. I know blue isnt hitting 110-120 which is what decent juniors can reach. Blue was better than me at the age most likely
@hsy2448 not sure. But every team in the Top 30 d3 had at least a handful of utr 11s at the time. Top d3 had at least half a roster of 12s. This was 2018/2019 keep in mind, not now. Maybe algorithm changed. I'm a utr 11.07 at the moment it shows. I don't play anymore
I think they're more strict on UTR now. I played D2 and played #3 and rarely played a guy under 10 UTR. But now even getting to 10 is a big deal I feel like
@dylanjay6580 yeah maybe so. I've also heard the change. Though I'm a few years removed from competitive tennis and I can still beat 9s and 10s junior tennis players i hit against so I feel like me being a low 11 utr would still be accurate
Blue's very first serve, wide to the left of the line. Literally every one of these amateur tennis videos has virtually no line calls when the ball is clearly out; don't understand why these players aren't calling more lines.
Perhaps it's that you don't need 100% accurate calls to get a sense of the relative skill levels. So at least in that sense it's not really very important.
Next video will have a scoreboard overlay
So you posted a video with a question on who could beat who but no score? No way for viewer to tell? Cherry picked points edited in random sequence and no context? Great job. Oh thanks for the scoreboard will be on next one top gun. Which one? Never seen one.
I like the kid's strategy of accurately hitting the sidelines which sets up the volley.
He missed like three in a row at the end of the first set

Yes, yes he can. what an amazing form on the forehand. so much pace too
Awesome video. Fun to watch a junior using his forehand to strike the corner and actively look to finish the point at the net.
Couldn't agree more!
The boy has great composure for his age, really great stuff 👍

acttual real 10 utrs unlike every other "10" utr i see on yt
Utr is mostly subjective, 10 utrs may or mag not excel 10 utrs in another state. The higher the utr though the more accurate the rating
this dude has the same ground strokes as alcaraz
You have got to add a graphic with the running score to your videos. It really brings down the watching experience without it.
