Came to say the same thing. The hardware, okay I can understand reusing for whatever reason, but how much is for a couple of exhaust gaskets considering all that work done?
James Child exactly, doesn’t look like they secured the car on the dyno either. Chocks are not enough on their own. I don’t think I’d let them work on my car. They look a bunch of cowboys to be honest
An E39 523i Touring was the car I grew up in and according to my father he never had any reliability issues with it over the many years he owned it. It's the reason the E39 Touring is my favourite car today and the reason why I will get one myself soon. A great car.
I'm dying a little inside everyday in heavy nyc traffic. the one saving grace is the m5's dual mass flywheel❤ It drives like an automatic with barely a glancing tap to crawl at 2mph sans clutch.
Awesome! I stumbled across this video again and saw my old comments. I still think it sounds like a more rumbly S65. The E39 M5 was such a cool car. From the factory, they had that awesome deep dish wheel/tire. Awesome engine. Excellent suspension. Back then, they had the Clive Ownen advertisements too.
Chanel is growing Imran. Been watching these videos for years now. Keep the older BMW stuff coming. I ain’t doing much these days seeing as we are in lockdown in California.
Ordered a pair of the Medusa headers and the Eventuri intakes for my E39 a few weeks ago. It's currently stock, so I'm stoked by the results in this video. Just going to have to be patient until they arrive.
I have 3 E39 M5s. My 2000 silver has 316k miles still has original bearings vanos and timing chain guides etc. These are built to last. My other one has 171k and my jet black 00 has 100k. Just do the tensioners as precautionary maintenance and change the fuel filter and do oil changes even if your not driving the car the 3-5k miles between oil changes. I recently did an oil change even though it had only done 500 miles but it sat in the garage for close to 2 years. I work on the cars myself and it’s a blast. All my cars are California cars so no rust or anything of that kind. If your in the market you should definitely buy one. But get one adult driven and with a service history. I’m the second owner of all 3 of my cars.
Love this car. I had a 51 Plate, in Le Mans Blue. You guys supplied the Supersprint X Pipe for me. Brings back some good old memories. Amazing video as usual ❤

11:14. I don't deal with BMW's since I'm kind of a solid axle guy, but it's easy to appreciate the design work that goes into these cars. --That yellow labeled lower control arm with varying cross-section is awesome. I bet this setup would feel amazing with UHMW bushings or spherical inserts. --There's a reasonable amount of room around the bellhousing. That's a pleasant thing to see if you have to replace a clutch.
Love the content guys. The S85b50 though is the most ICONIC engine from BMW in my opinion with regular and frequent maintenance they're just as bullet proof as anything!
Just found your channel. Great content and great mods for the timeless e39. I love the engineering and quality of the supercharger kit you do. for the M5. Really impressive.
I really need to get my 2001 M5 back on the road... if anything to get it sold so someone else can enjoy it properly, but not until after I've had one more fling with it. Such nice cars and going up in value, even for high mileage examples.
Thanks for filming this. You did a good job, and this car sounds excellent. Reminiscent of the E92 in terms of sound, but has a hair more rumble to it.
I have a e39 528i, almost 300k miles and keeps on going. Wish I could get a M5 but all are really expensive collector cars or cheap trashed from people that bought them but couldn’t afford the maintenance
Brilliant video yet again, love the way you film everything, do you use a camera around your head ? Never realised fitting the manifold took so much work, going from 360 - 425bhp must feel so much different especially with all that extra torque across the Rev range. Really miss my M5 now, mine was carbon black too. Hope your all safe. 👍🏻
9:21. That's an interesting header collector design. Is there a taper on the primary tube, and this all squeezes together like a ferrule/nut assembly, except with spring tension?
Really good video. Well put together & informative. Thought about an E39 M5 lots of times, just bought a Merc CL55 AMG but really wish it was manual instead of automatic. Keep the videos coming. 👍🏼

Loved the entire video and appreciated the first three minutes with your insights on E39M5. Can you please share something on its comparison with E90M3? I am looking to purchase either one, would appreciate your thoughts!
FBO S62 M5 will be 425hp or 369whp on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno so its making the same power as if its a stock 6.2L LS3 now and im seeing stock E60 M5's doing about 430whp on the same dyno so they really do make good power like a LS7 just less torque.
I'm looking at the full SS exhaust as well including headers. I'm not looking for to make it louder, just improved power (but still NA) and weight reduction. I noticed you put the SS X-pipe vs. the SS resonators. Is there a significant difference between the two? Also, I don't believe it was mentioned which version of SS mufflers were installed on the car in this video, Performance, Race or F1? Do you have experience with the sound difference between the three muffler types? Thank you.
Have you stopped selling your own headers for the E39 M5? I was hoping to pick up a set in a few years when I head back to NZ, Not much point in buying them while I live in Germany. I guess you would recommend the supersprint as an alternative then. That exhaust is the best I've head on an S62 on youtube. Do you have experience with the Eisenmann sport/race? Can you compare? I get that it's subjective but a lot of the youtube e39 M5 exhaust videos are very raspy especially with an X pipe which I don't like and this supersprint doesn't seem to have any of that.

Hmm, no longer thinking about a E90 next. Those manifolds have definitely got my attention (E39 owner).
Either is a good choice! E39 and E90 are both excellent cars.
10:59. That's a cool way of sealing a header. I'm used to seeing welded collectors, or some carefully fabricated V-band assemblies.

A E39 M5 old?? The word you're looking for is Classic and give another 10 years it then becomes Vintage an E39 M5 should never be referred to as old.

How much power did it make???
For my first M car I’m considering one of these. What sort of money does a 160k mile + example well maintained go for ? And anything to look out for?
Would you rexxomend having chains done before it’s napped at mileage like this ?
At mileage like this preventative maintenance will be important yes.
