Imagine my surprise when i opened my monotron and realized what a capable eurorack module it could be! Good to see someone else on the wave, if far ahead of me...
This is really cool! I realize you are in the business of selling these Eurorack prototyping boards, not providing folks with walkthroughs on this specific mod...That said, if you could provide us with some brief details about what pins on the monotron you connected to the jacks, that would not only be super helpful, but it would literally help sell you product to folks like me (and presumably other youtubers as well.) Please consider this suggestion as a marketing tip, since marketing your product is the purpose of this video. Either way, awesome video, and I appreciate you guys sharing it. I just wish the video would pause for a moment during soldering and show us exactly what is being soldered. Thanks!
You are correct, we should have been more specific, but there are tons of monotron mod guides already online. We only showed that it's possible to put monotron in the eurorack format. Thanks for the kind words! By the way there is a pretty compehensive guide we made with Otto's DIY, check it out: github.com/intechstudio/ottosdiy/tree/master/Cookbook/Vol.%201
I noticed you use a 16-way header to connect to the power buss of the eurorack. Where exactly does the + connect to on the board ? - Does it bypass the voltage converter ?
Hi there, Im hoping you might be able to answer a question for me. I think I might have put too much power through my monotron when I was trying to mod it. I hooked it up to my OmSynth power supply using crocodile clips to the battery terminals, which I think puts out 5v. I tried it first on an old monotron, and it seemed to power it fine, but when I tried it on the one I was modding nothing happened, as in the monotron didn't power on, but the lights on my omsynth went off. This also happens if the 2 crocodile clips touch. I'm assuming I've blown the circuit. So, what I wanted to know is, will that have destroyed the monotron completely or might it be fixable? I have almost no electronics knowledge, I'm trying to learn, but I fear this may have been a costly lesson. I hope you can help. Many thanks, Chris
Which monotron model is it? On the monotron Duo the battery connection is designed 2-3V input, this goes straight into a DC-DC converter that generates the +5V rail. If you overloaded the DC converter you might still be able to power the devices through the +5V VCC testpad. The schematics are available online, check for your model.
Unfortunately we don't have step-by-step guide for this project, on our end it's about demonstrating the Otto's boards versatility. There are other monotron mods here on youtube, try to search for "monotron duo cv-gate mod". Maybe there you can find what you are after! :)

This is brilliant!!! I really want to see your project develop.
Cool, thanx for creating this Video! Looking forward to see more mods
wow great, more of this please

Kind of hard to see the PCB, but did you solder Vrib to two resistors and then the jack?
i need to do it with mine !!

Well, I've actually done it to my original monotron and a Duo! Ridiculous, I know!!
@@Reprobus3 Try powering from the VCC testpoint and make sure that your supply is 5V. It's possible that you only damaged the DC-to-DC converter.
Gergely Máté Sövény I’ll give it a go. Thanks again for your help 👍
Could you point me in the right direction for a step by step guide?
