great stuff. look for clay or compressed dirt to expand 1.5-3x in volume. the excess dirt is called the spoils. never let a hoe operator start digging without having the city come and mark out the underground utilities, and if you are trying to expose a line or pipe have a laborer use a shovel to expose its elevation first and then carefully dig along the line with the hoe if possible and stay a safe distance above from the exposed pipe/line. dont expect the water or gas line to be at the proper depth. all soils are not equal and you cant put certain soils in certain places or its a huge problem, so make sure you know what kind of dirt or aggregate you are dealing with. always be aware of overhead lines and flag them so the dump truck or hoe operator doesnt tag them and shut the whole thing down.
