- Visiting Karen's grandparents in Cauayan, Philippines.
Lola's age: 76
Lolo's: 82
they lived in the mountains of cauayan their whole life and have very little knowledge about today's technology.
they work daily to survive living off the land.
even with a hurt foot Lolo continues to gather food and work around the house doing what is needed.
they were speechless to see the Drone flying.
none of them had ever seen anything like it.
thank you for watching.
I spent two years in the PI and was able to visit many Barios in Luzon. Was there in 1959-1961. Still miss the wonderful people of the country.
Less is often more....wonderful video. What a landscape...what a nature and chilling silence....👍..i could live there for sure !
Just watched this and it’s so humbling to see your grandparent’s way of living…❤
❤ made me homesick, we as Americans or know expats, we are our own worst enemies. Leaving our arrogance at the airport and becoming humble but aware of the potential of lots of scams, it is good to pay a little extra at times but then again we don't want to be loud ALSO, immediately become targets for something. Gotta love our Filipina bodyguards they truly come to our defense..
I'm absolutely salute to Mr Ricky, he absolutely awesome to go to that place walking a far, that's really cool.... congratulations 🎉 but anyway the place was so beautiful ❤️
I am happy to you both am Lola Minda watching your vlogno skipping ads

Ricky, You are an amazing young man. We have watched you grow so much in your travels and love your appreciation for life and love appreciation of learning of what life is for other people is like. Best wishes to you and Karen. It is so clear that you both love and appreciate life and you will have a wonderful life together. Life can be tough but it seems that you both have the right stuff to know what is important and let all the rest of the stuff roll off your backs. God bless you today and always.
Wow, thank you so much. May God bless you.
Your girl looks so happy she has you. Thanks for the video
Wow that's too far for a walk but seems enjoyable views are so amazing 💖
It was a long walk but worth it.
Hey Ricky, I'm American and been married to a filipina for 20 years. Been to the Philippines lots of times to visit. One thing you need to know as a American , you are a target for fraud wherever you go. Be careful and always double check any work you want to have done. Other than that, love your content....keep up the good work.
Yess, before we purchased the motorcycle I always got karen to go in front of me and ask how much rides where cause when we're together they would charge triple the price. & thank you!
Loved the video man your a good dude and got you a good girl, y’all doing awesome
Much respect to your family for living the basic life and love that beautiful land out there..
Hi guys, ya made me tired just watching you two walking up the mountain. Great video though. Take care and stay safe.

You both sweet together!
Something magic about you!

Amping mo day, new subscriber here and watching from PA. God bless you guys.
Hala salamat kaayo sa support kuya. God bless you po
Watching the video sure made me thing just how much we complain about stuff like if the power goes out for a few hours we thing we can't make it watching the grandparents much much respect to them they are happy and I love watching him looking at American money lol keep making the videos love to watch them 😊 ❤️
It's cool. When she's 70, she'll be able to look at this video and remember this brief moment in time. Of family, who lived in the past whilst living simultaneously in the present. Different walks of life.
Ebb and flow.... till we are all gone.
Right.
Wow..Congrats both..Love this Video..
Hi ma'am Joveth. Thank you po sa support. God bless you
Hope makita ta mo in Personal Dhai..🙂❤
Hi Ricky and Karen I watched your video with interest, I am from the UK. Since June 2012 I have been to the Philippines 22 times mainly cebu city. Province life has always appealed to me. But honestly Karen's GP endure a pretty austere existence and personally I could not adapt to such an isolated lifestyle. But I did enjoy watching 👍
Yes that life style would be hard to adapt. Thanks Jeff.
@@rickykaren 👍
Loved this video, its amazing it shows how you really love her,God bless you…
Thank you so much!
Beautiful place there its a real eye opener going back in the province like that kinda put life into a whole new perspective and makes us really look at things with a greater appreciation more people needs to experience this. Her Lolo is in great shape to be 82 and still works every day amazing. Keep the great videos coming i really enjoyed this one
Yes, gives you a reason to be thankful even when something doesn't go your way.
Rick “Mr. 606” and Karen, this was such a good video. Thank you for showing us her Grandparents way of life.
Thanks Michael.
Nice video. Watching from India
Awesome thank you
Thank you po. Are you a filipino?
That is some beautiful country in the mountains. They live a hard life up there. My filipina girl friend grew up and lives in a relatively flat farming area near the ocean. She remembers when her town first got electricity 28 years ago.
Wow! You're so right on how we shouldn't complain. I love the content on how Karen's Grandparents live. It's amazing to see that people still live like this. They look very happy and YOUNG! Grandpa looks amazing at 82! It just shows the rest of us that this way of life is beyond our understanding and vise versa. With that being said, if all comes crashing down, they will continue to live without missing a beat. Thank you Karen and family for sharing your beautiful ways of life. I'm happy Rick You're getting to experience all this. Aunt can't wait to see you though. God's speed. Love you. Stay safe.
exactly, and yes ill be home soon. love you.
I love they way they live
This is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I love Karen’s genuine personality and kind heart- it comes through the screen very well. Please never change. She definitely gets her beauty from her grandparents! They’re absolutely beautiful inside & out. I love the appreciation and respect Brandon has for her family and for their beautiful land. I hope you continue to be good to each other. You two will have beautiful babies, I’m sure!! god bless you both.
New subscriber here. Loved this video. Karen is a natural on camera.
I love Karen.
Fair dinkum what a beautiful soul she has
Tough life in the mountains but they all seem happy
Very good content. It brings back my own memories of meeting my wife’s family for the first time.
Thanks, I also just seen that the writing in the video was out of timing...
Beautiful location of her grandparents .
Most oof our old folks grow old together no matter what life is like the country song,," living on love
Love it wish to experience that
It's a must for sure.
Karen, Ricky is a keeper! Much respect for him. I know what's it's like growing up in the mountains. Ricky I hope you tried the sweet fresh sugar cane and all the other tropical fruits! Halong!

Thank you, I had to edit the video and when I did, it made everything to out of timing.
Thank you
Great video. Really enjoyed seeing how Karens grandparents live. It really puts one's life in perspective.
Thanks. Sorry the video is all messed up. I had to change a few things in the video causing everything to be out of timing.
Nice place so far..quite..peaceful..
Cool you took the time to experience that province life, much respect bro, cool video, peaceful life, good luck to you two
that was one of the things I wanted to do and experience. Thank you.
I'm happy both of you Karen ...
Oh man, that terrain and mountain paths look pretty rough. You know it's bad when the driver drops you to your own devices. I've been up the mountain tour where the father-in-law does the planting/harvesting with the carabou and it is rocky, but the brother-in-law took us on his motorbike with sidecar attachment clear up in the mountain top. We even had a picnic up there and stopped along the way of his friends and had some local wine and fresh pineapple in his nippa hut. Pretty cool experience.
Yeah, man. The road was really tough but the experience i had on that mountain was awesome. I'm glad you had fun too. Places to go like this is calm and peaceful.
God bless you both.
I related that situation because i am poor filipina lady lives in the mountain then marry to an american man.
Kakamis Naman dyan..see you soon my family there..
I am so glad to see your channel! What a fantastic adventure you have embarked upon!
It's so easy to see the differences on the mountain, we see the lack of electricity and modern conveniences, but we must realize that this is just everyday life for them, no novelty, just life. What takes time to appreciate is the great quality of life that is enjoyed there! Always remember to respect and don't be quick to judge! You will soon realize that many of the things we think and do regularly are strange and silly to others!
You have the opportunity for a wonderful life with a great lady! I am so happy to see this!
I agree, I was blessed to have experienced this. Thank you for watching.
I want to leave there Karen 💗❤️ Ganda Ng Lugar nyo
Pilipinoes life style that's it nice memories
I'll bet you never imagined that your adventure in paradise would involve real life hillbillies! A total adventure including walking forever in the mud with a beautiful woman , getting soaked in the rain and two flat tires and a dingbat tire guy. This the kind of epic that you never forget. Got so wound into it I had to take a nap halfway through!
Memories that will last a lift time for sure, and when we're old, we will be able to go back and watch all these videos all over again.
Ayan na sis follow n kita, mula sa tiktok
Same my place 1 kilometers walking from the road but injoy while walking sometimes I'm alone
Ambot! Akoy nalooy sa kano gipalakaw sa perting layoa, bungtod pa jud..
No only did she make me walk but she made me carry her when I wasn't filming. Haha I'm joking. It was something we both wanted to do
Nice view . New subscriber her
God blessed both ....
Thank youu !
Which part of Cauayan is this? Taga Cauayan man ko pero I didn’t recognize this area.
good exercise sir Ricky to walk in a mountain
Long walk for sure.
How was you able to keep all your video equipment and electrical stuff charged? I really appreciate you guys sharing the videos.😊
We charged everything before going up on the mountain.
New sub here that was amazing video amigo, real and honest look at their way of life. I spent some time in PI back in my navy days, it's such an amazing and beautiful country with wonderful respectful and friendly people.
Yes they are. Thank you and God bless
very nice
Your a long way from Hazard Ky.
A very long way
Hi couple miss u both and your vlog hoping to see you together again
Hii, the way too Your GF Grand Parents Place iits fair, but if the road were a little bit more drivable on your motorbike, it should be much better, you know to avoid that 30mins walk uphill, as in my case i am ysed too, but for those whom are not used too, it will be not pleasant.
But that 49.5 motobike should have made it to the house.
Nice video, and take care of her, dont ever break her Heart at any cost.
what do they farm?
do they sell their harvest or only for consumption?
thanks for the upload
Mostly, they farm for house consumption but if they get good harvest, yes, they deliver their down to the mountain and sell it.

some thing I would think about if I was in your shoe would be, what the most lucrative item they can get out of the area. and evaluate if/how to get it out. then try to systematize it for the people living there. accessibility is a huge problem there though.
it's a heartbreaking to see old people and kids with that type difficulties. I'm hoping to do philanthropic work in my later years. I'm not there yet though.
are there lots of kids still walking to school there?
thanks for sharing
People there now have wide sugarcane plantations. And yes, there are still kids walking to school.
My lola died last year 3 months after that video. My lolo is now supported by his kids and I do visit him if I am free.
@@rickykaren
I'm so sorry for your loss. my condolences.
what is the age range and number of kids walking to the school from that village? do they wear uniforms?
10-18 years old. Elementary to high-school.

Hi guys i know what you guys are going through . My wife is Vietnamese we got married in 2016 it took almost 2 years to get here but we did it .. she got here in 2018. I went to Vietnam 5 times . In 2 weeks on the 4th of July she becomes a U.S. citizen
That's awesome. What did she think of the US?
I will be sending our K1- Visa in July.
We have no reason to complain and they don't ever complain. In this country we suffer from depression because we don't have any real problems. When everyday it is the day to survive depression is not an option.
Where is that place sis?
My hometown dai. Sa Cauayan
bare foot up hill both ways in the snow lol
Natry na po ba nya Yung balut? 😂🤣😂🤣
Nooooooo! hahaha, she wants me to try it
Oh my, hope the govt develop the road soon.🙏🙏🙏🙏
Visiting a place like this is ok for me if there is internet.
My prayers🙏🙏🙏.
(Please tell the people to plant plenty Moringa trees for consumption, and as feed for chicken and goats. A female got will produce 60 % more milk if fed with moringa. Chicken will grow faster and yield more eggs. Miracle 🌲: Moringa.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes they are starting to develop the road now
5:20 A lot of the "problems" Americans have would be solved in an instant if they just saw some other parts of the world. We have it too good and so many people don't realize it.

He is feel own just patient walk around girl friend she is find who lands far place from who h storm typhoon transfer look dry lands?
Zufrieden glücklich einfach Frieden im Herzen
the music is drowning out your voices!!
I watched two of your videos with the first one being your surprise arrival. The thing that strikes me in both of these videos is there is not much intimacy between you two. She did not even embrace you when you arrive from the airport., during your track up the mountain, she did not hold your hand or even wait for you. I have a Filipino girlfriend, and I have often found her to be somewhat emotionally unavailable. I am afraid that I am going to spend a lot of time and money coming to see her and walk away from the experience, feeling hollow and unfulfilled..
Ah I see negros ka pla
Marrying a Filipina you're Married the Whole Family 😂😂😂
Yeah, base on what you only know
Lands million times and house only budget which she is job and he is job word own hard go airport send girlfriend she is go barangay don't blame utang judge follow for all example only observed
You wouldn’t have tried to travel even with group much worst if you re just two going up to the mountains and that area is not necessarily safe. I think there’s some NPA roaming in that area those group will kidnap or even kill anyone in your case you are the target because you are a foreigner . It’s random those group can show up anywhere anytime . Omg be careful!! I kind of feel bad for you!!! Be very careful!!
