I just watched a scene from House of 1000 Corpses - absolute Master of Horror movie making. The fear in those characters eyes! The music. What an amazingly original and perfectly choreographed scene. Please make more movies. My top 3 RZ movies: TDR, Lords of Salem (ahead of its time), House of 1000. You have a rare ability to make the audience feel complicit. Stay safe Mr & Mrs Z!

Rob has seriously dropped off in quality to me. I still love him, but he set the bar SO ridiculously high with Helbilly Deluxe, I guess there was just no way he’d ever equal it. His last album was very “meh”, at best to me, and when I saw him live that time around, he spent about a third of his set playing covers of shitty classic rock songs, instead of cramming in as many of his OWN classics as he could. It just seemed like a very lazy effort, compared to previous times I had seen him live.
Alien Frequency relisten to the album. It's actually a lot better than Hellbilly Deluxe, as most of his albums are. It's just nostalgia that makes people think it's some classic compared to the rest of his work.
I don't think the bar on Hellbilly is really as high as you see it... it really is just a matter nostalgia.
If you think he's just going downhill, well the hill was never that high.
I find that he's had an up and down career like anyone else, and many of his best tracks are from after Hellbilly.
No, it certainly is NOT a matter of blind nostalgia, TO ME. Nostalgic purists annoy the crap out of me. I’m usually that rare guy who prefers, and loves things that are new and fresh. (Whether music or movies) To me, Hellbilly Deluxe has some of his heaviest, best produced songs of his career. I love his next couple albums thereafter, but his last 2 just don’t do it for me as much. To me, they’re just more goofy than amazing Zombie albums, aside from a couple standout tracks per album. Anyway, these are MY opinions.
