Karakas basically invalidates the entire format, so it's ban makes total sense. In a 100 card singleton format like Canadian Highlander it's an absolute house for the reasons listed, bouncing both ally and enemy legends for an insanely low cost can be backbreaking.

You can't do this with bargain, if it enters the board, you will be able to draw in response to a destroy effect (but for krosan grip, but if you are expecting it , you could still activate draws before conceding priority), Griselbrand is banned for similar reason.

41:07 in regards to Nyxbloom Ancient, the card is fine on its own. Yes triple mana is insane, but it doesn’t win you the game on its own. You still need spells to profit from it. In a normal game, you slam it down turn 5-6, but you’re tapped out so you have to wait a full rotation before being able to use it. So in that sense, it’s a big meatball that gives you an insane advantage, but not enough to win the game outright
In summary, it has a similar issue to Omniscience. It costs a lot and requires you to have more cards in hand to do anything with it. Except with Omniscience, you don't have to wait a turn cycle.
Some cards aren't banned because they draw a BIG target on their controller's face, Blightsteel Colossus basically tells everyone else at the table "you need to kill me now or I'll pick you off one at a time." That doesn't matter one on one, but at a table with three other people people will dogpile on them, with a spell like Armageddon, that MIGHT NOT be with their decks, but IRL instead. I'm sure you can imagine Yagmoth's Bargain, & Sheoldred The Apocalypse, you actually GAIN one life for each card you draw & you have all the cards you WANT in your hand.

The biggest clue for Smothering Tithe was that it got new waifu artwork Also, White needs the mana ramp it provides just to keep up, which is something a non-mtg player wouldnt know
In regards to the Chaos Orb story, that is an unconfirmed urban legend, nobody has ever confirmed it actually happened. HOWEVER, it is so prevalent and widespread of a story(as a kid at my LGS in the 90s I myself heard it being told), that Wizards of the Coast printed a tribute card to it in one of their silly parody sets, Unglued, called Chaos Confetti, which does exactly that.
As a new mtg player I love playing along with y’all and getting really surprised at what’s banned or not, like imo black lotus is so much worse then something like nether void.
one thing to realize with a 0-cost spell like black lotus, is that there are a ton of cards that let you play cards from your graveyard. so you could use the lotus to cast one of those cards, then repeatedly cast the 0-cost black lotus for a ton if not infinite mana. those sorts of cards also tend to be banned lol

I play blue, almost exclusively, my answer to Armageddon is to let is to let is resolve. Usually people play it to bait a counter spell, I find it more fun to let it resolve. After that, the other 2 players focus on them instead of me, while I rebuild my land base.
38:30 I actually played against a pure Stax deck with Augustine as the commander and the deck's whole design was to lock other players out of the game. Winter's Orb, Blind Obedience, Rule of Law, Eidolon of Rhetoric, Torpor Orb, etc. It was brutal.

35:27 i have a player in my playgroup who has a deck that runs multiple mass land destruction spells. The commander is velomachus lorehold and hes the only creature in the deck. He allows you to cast something for free from the top few cards of your library and it can easily function without needing lands once hes out. That is a strategy im ok with mld for. Still sucks when it happens but i know the game will end soon

For sure, but I'd still say it's tied for second worst with black. Green offers essentially one form of protection through hexproof (I guess fogs too?) Similarly to black with recursion. whereas white and blue have several options and styles of cards to keep things safe.
Maybe they talked about the meanikg of world enchantment, if you are curious it means that there can only be one world enchantment at the board at the same time, like a weather condition on a pokemon match, its and old concept of magic that nowadays it doesnt even come up in games.

Its more of an outdated gimmick we still have enchantments but not like thoose, its like easier game design, and some enchantments still work for only opponents or all players, so its easier to understand

I think this justifies the supposed title for most powerful 9 since it will be up to debate since objectively power is hard to measure. They are famous though, and powerful, and all from early magic, and power 9 sounds rad as hell

MLD is NOT a problem if you have a plan beyond that. We don't want 3 hour games. Destroy all lands, and then finish the game quickly. Maybe it's a mass reanimation like cosmic intervention. Maybe it's a heroic intervention to keep it all around. Just finish us off, don't drag the game.

Mass Milling is just as bad as mass land destruction. Both remove resources from a player. if you rule zero mass land destruction then you need to do the same for mass milling.

I wish videos like these would translate magic cards to yugioh examples. Like Black Lotus -> imagine it's a creature that can be played from your hand as a special summon. You can then sacrifice it to bring out any creature from your hand, extra deck, or cast trap cards directly without setting them face down. Ignoring all conditions. Now tell me if it's banned.
I tried to when I could come up with relevant examples. But even in the case you gave, that effect would just about be a prerequisite for any archetype as a starter right now. For example, Kashmir Unicorn special summons itself, then adds a card to special summon another. I don't think that really lines up to Lotus
Like it or not (as a modern player i don‘t) commander IS the current flag ship of mtg. Denying that is dellusional Edit: that being said, i still agree that videos like this should be made format neutral if possible. But that is just my opinion.
100 dollars for a 100 card deck seems reasonable imo. Coming from yugioh, pokemon, and vanguard I've had to deal with games where a single card could be up to 100 bucks and you'd need 3/4 of them.

There's no trigger with Blightsteel Colossus' shuffle ability so it cannot be reanimated.

world enchantments are exactly like field spells. only one world enchant can be on the table at a time and a new one entering destroys the old one.

I wish videos like these would translate magic cards to yugioh examples.
Like Black Lotus -> imagine it's a creature that can be played from your hand as a special summon.
You can then sacrifice it to bring out any creature from your hand, extra deck, or cast trap cards directly without setting them face down. Ignoring all conditions.
Now tell me if it's banned.
I tried to when I could come up with relevant examples. But even in the case you gave, that effect would just about be a prerequisite for any archetype as a starter right now. For example, Kashmir Unicorn special summons itself, then adds a card to special summon another. I don't think that really lines up to Lotus

"cheap format" when most commander decks cost $100+
100 dollars for a 100 card deck seems reasonable imo. Coming from yugioh, pokemon, and vanguard I've had to deal with games where a single card could be up to 100 bucks and you'd need 3/4 of them.
