You dont mention what setting to put the multimeter on? Are you checking for resistance or continuity

Hi, sorry about that. Multimeter is measuring ohms and is set to 200 ohms. Hope it helps

On VW /AUDI the steering angle sensor is right below the clockspring and you will kill it if you do not take GREAT CARE in handling. " Most often, the non-removable error554000 B116804 - Steering angle sensor, Faulty (Angle in the mechanical limit range of the sensor (> 900 degrees absolute))occurs as a result of removing and incorrectly installing the steering rack (usually the steering wheel is turned a few turns relative to the initial position ). When turning the steering wheel, the readings of the speed sensor go beyond the working range, and in this case the module is blocked by software and records a non-erasable error in the memory. With such an error, usually the current value of the steering wheel rotation angle does not change and showed a value of 819 ° " in VCDS THIS IS WHY MANY SECOND HAND DEVICES TEST AS WORKING BUT FAIL AS 'defective" once reinstalled. NO JOKE they are VERY VERY sensitive during removal
