genes solo album was the highest charting of all the albums, in usa and other countries. it initially sold the most which obviously gave it the highest chart rankings. aces sold the most in the sound scan era, but before 1991, who knows what they sold... all we know for sure, genes charted higher

I'm sorry. Going to have to beg to differ. Look at the silver fringe around his jumpsuit. That was present in the Unmasked outfit and the belt was not the same belt used in the I Love It Loud vid.
Yeah... there is a time in everyone's life when it is just time to dump the spandex... They kind of passed that time a long time ago. A fun and entertaining band - whoever was/in it now (I'm a "purist", enjoyed Criss and Frehley in the '70s.... the others were decent..). Although Gene Simmons was not necessariy my favorite member in the band, what he said in regards to Nick's birth was quite profound.
When the Hot in the Shade record came out Paul could have put the makeup back on and it would have worked as he looks hot here. Gene would have had to work at it though Gene looks fat and bloated and he doesn't look like he wanted to put the makeup on at all.
Because it took the 4 of them to make KISS what it is. Ace was the much better guitarist no doubt. KISS is the marketing brand it is because of their history (and makeup and stage show), Frehley's Comet didn't have the record company support KISS did. And NONE of them individually were as strong going at it solo. Gene's album ASSHOLE was pretty awful and Peter's solo albums were not even close to a KISS thing.
timm441 but what I'm saying is, if Ace had the biggest selling solo album, and Shock Me was the favorite live song, Ace couldn't had the record company behind him, he could've milked that success into a career. Instead he has made a career out of being the victim that got wronged by Gene and Paul.
Because Ace was too f#cked up on drugs; KISS needs Ace (the whole is more than the sum of the parts) and Ace needs KISS (my guess is that Gene & Paul did what they could to keep Ace's head clear whenever possible, and that worked to Ace's advantage even as bad blood it may have caused between them all). I'm an Ace fan, he was my fave within KISS and I have bought most all of his solo stuff. But Ace was not a good business dealer, which probably led to his record company's tepid support. Ace+drugs = bad. Ace's newer stuff seems to be great; but it's too little too late now.

Because KISS is a huge name, marketing wise. Ace didn't have the backing on his own, but he still was the better MUSICIAN.
I did some research it WAS his Love Gun/Alive 2 outfit, Unmasked tour boots, and the belt was from the Creatures of the Night era!
