  • This video features our acoustic guitar armrest having the upper binding screwed in place and hit with CA glue. It is a fun video but when the screws go into the top of the guitar I still get nervous.
    We have a "Tea with Monty" episode next week so please send your questions regarding the acoustic guitar building process or whatever is on your mind to the address indicated below. Thanks so much.

    Pointy things aimed at the top make me so nervous! I blew a sigh of relief, too. Purists might raise their eyebrows at the screws, but heck - it gets the job done and will never be seen. Simple and quick solution!

    Thank you for showing us how you do this. I will probably never do a beveled edge, but I wanted to see the super glue tacking method done in real time. Every other UA-cam tutorial is very rushed - and this step is the one that you DO NOT want to rush! One slip and you will essentially route off the top!

      Yes, and even with jigs I had a little problem. It's all good now.

    I have to be honest, I was nervous watching you screw the arm rest. Glad it worked.

    Screws? I kept thinking please don’t split, please don’t split as you were screwing those in. I had a sinking feeling that something had gone wrong and the play on the title really meant something went wrong. Glad to see my worry was over nothing!

      Well it did lift the top a tad but I fixed that. Still one needs to be careful. lol

    Coming along quite nicely Mr. McKinnon! The most intricate details are, IMO, what makes something have higher quality and value (perceived or otherwise)! Cheers. 😊

    What was the thickness like on that CA Glue??? Viscosity wise... was it ultra thin or like a medium thick?

    • @MontyMcKinnon
      @MontyMcKinnon  4 роки тому

      Ultra thin Michael. It wicks like water.
