Slime was popular like 5 years ago 😢😢😢 Ruined it for nothing
It's big as a sensory/anti-anxiety thing for adults, and there are still a bunch of DIY slime kits in large sections of stores. But a lot of kids have already played with nicer quality slime than what RH is making and will probably expect a lot more of it than they'll get. It's a super strange concept for MGA to go all-in on regardless. Kids who want slime and kids who want fashion dolls probably don't overlap that much...
Companies need to STOP changing their products that literally no one asked to be changed
Rainbow High threw away their entire adult collector fan base. Thank God they made plans to cut the budget cuz they just lost at least a quarter of it
I feel like if they wouldn't have put SO many of the dolls out so fast, we would have been able to buy and support the line more. The different series came out so close together we either had to pick and choose (when we (ok I) really wanted them all) or we had to wait until they went on sale or clearance. During the constant, one on top of another releases, the prices of everything else in the world was also going up, all the while the amount of what we got for the money went down. It was just too much too fast!😫

This reboot makes me sad bc it happened just when I was getting back into fashion dolls... I admired Rainbow High for a long time, the colours were so vibrant and they looked very cute and well-designed, but I'm transitioning to male and I'm also 'too old' for dolls anyway, I'm only now letting myself buy them as an adult man instead of a young 'girl', lol. I think I know now what Monster High fans who got into it at g2 must've felt.

Honestly tho how many times *do we* have to tell MGA how important diversity is while they keep handing us more bland casts

HEY personally I think the reboot is beautiful and I think you guys should stop complaining imagine if we lost rainbow high altogether so we should be grateful that we still have rainbow high at all SO STOP COMPLAINING, plus you can’t get everything you want and you can’t just ask MGA not to do it and you guys aren’t the boss of MGA, it’s MGA’S DECISION not yours so just stop Ok it’s not like they added demons to rainbow high so just let it go.

The art break art rules in ways nothing should. Did these designers even go to art school? I'm pretty sure these mistakes are usually fixed before art school, or you don't get in. This is basic colour theory stuff. Why are they not getting that?
If we are only getting this basic art now, does that mean they haven't put it into the episodes. Are there even any episodes? I know some people take january off, but Rainbow World promotional material leaked months ago, and here we are getting horrible design choices today. Is this series two months away from being released? These design choices make it look like it; like they're barely passed first draft. If it is, I find it utterly disgraceful. But to MGA, if you have nothing made, just go back. This series and line isn't worth it. Please. Rainbow high was perfect the way it was.
Just give us a good collectors doll and come back with more content mid year. We would forgive you MGA, Rainbow High. Just say sorry and go back already! Please... 🥺 like, send out what you got as bloopers. Everyone makes mistakes. But you have to grow from them, not grasp at straws like with this.

You know, if they really wanted to appeal to a much younger age range of the audience, then maybe they could have had a collaboration the NA NA Na Surprise doll design which were plush bodied fashion dolls with limited articulation to the body but still had the appeal and still have the pets.
Imagine Rainbow High dolls done in the NA NA NA Surprise doll style more or less.
The dolls would be somewhat plushie and cute limited articulation but still fashionable.
Then add the magical pets with some kind of colour changing design but still plushie and cute and there you have the appeal.
Also, I have a hard time seeing where slime and rainbows mix in all this or maybe the concept is that the rainbow colors start off liquifide and then stretched like taffy or maybe sucked up by the pets since the toy design involve the slime in the pets' heads with which they then magically spray to cause all the colouring or something.
I'm sorry but the slime concept is really throwing me off because what if the the age range they're targeting with this idea don't find slime appealing anymore because certain trends can go out of style after a while, and even if slime is still popular, it won't exactly appeal to everyone.
I'm hoping poppy got lost in that world and they rescue her or something to bring her back

Whether adult collectors view it as necessary or not, the dolls weren’t selling like that and no amount of adult collectors gushing over ~amazing fashion~ was gonna get kids en masse into this line.
True, the biggest question is if the changes they make actually WILL appeal to the audience they want to reach or not. As adult collectors we can only guess but it still seems mistakes were made.
I never thought I'd fall in love with RH...I only got the closet for my Barbies...then I saw Kim & thought she looks simple enough & normal skin & hair color that I may like her. So i got her. Then like most weirdos like us, I needed to get her a friend. So I got Simone. Well, we all know how the story goes from there. NON doll collectors won't understand the spell these dolls cast on you. You have to have a couple in your hands, restyle them to your liking & it's all over....your in love. And it's now like RH is not that doll we fell in love with anymore. It's sad. While we grieve them & grieve Poppy, they throw this line at us & just leave us hanging. 😒

I like Skylers hair and Amaya's dress so it's cool. Sunny's outfit is cute too.
While I don't like Amaya's dress specifically, I do like a lot of the clothing pieces here across the revamp. As someone who didn't love series 1, I'd even go so far to say that some of these redos are cuter. If it weren't for the lost articulation and the dang glitter face ppls reactions wud be different. It's only when you add that, AND the slime that people feel ready to pick apart everything even the ok to good stuff.
I used to work at a toy store, and we sold MH dolls during G1 and G2.
I remember how much kids loved G1, and how much the interest fell with G2. I've seen this failure happen up close and personal.
When it comes to dolls, quality is everything. A high quality doll is something a kid will play with for years.
A cheap gimmick is not.
Once that slime dries up, gets moldy, is lost, thrown away, eaten by a dog, whatever, then the thing that made the doll fun is gone, and gimmicks are just flash trends. Trends change so fast.
This slime gimmick isn't sustainable in the long term, and apparently in Europe the dolls come with the slime pre made.
That's half of the gimmick instantly gone, and that will affect sales as well.
I see nothing but failure here.

Yeah, I think that’s the only redeeming quality to me. Sunny’s face especially is really pretty.
It’s the same sculpt, the same mold markings but different face up, more youthful, glowing .
It's true, despite corporate overwatch I think the designers in the background were still trying. There are glimmers of effort

Technically RH never knew how to rainbow in any case as the original release has six dolls and not seven. To those desperate to inform me that the rainbow has six colours, nope you are wrong, it has seven colours. The Acronym ROYGBIV is perfect for it or what I learned to say to remember what colours they were in order was 'Richard of York Gave Battle in Vain.' So glad that you mentioned the seven colours, it drove me mad last time as everyone trolled me in order to 'correct' me. As for RH, of all the dolls I would have collected it would have been Poppy, but I think she is stuck in the Upside Down fighting evil monsters.

I think the reason why poppy were sold out was because she wasn’t produced in a big amount as the others in first place 😂 just like what they do to darker skin dolls. Orange is one of my favorite colour but I have to admit that it’s just not that popular amongst kids
Rainbow high new soft reboot for new generation of rainbow high dolls what is rainbow world maybe it magic world and fantasy world where the new shadow high character come in two play in new series?
I bought Slime Sunny and scraped off her face glitter. She's nice and I like her, I really like her faceup. But yeah, this line is a distinct step back compared to what we were getting before. And oh yeah, I didn't bother to remove the slime, glitter, or the pet from the packaging.
Actually Poppy might come back. There are target system listings for an upcoming line called moonbows and it has the colors purple, blue, pink, and orange listed. Considering the reboot is just trying to get off the ground who else could those dolls be? Also another line called winter wonderland with only purple and pink listed. So diversity is still out the door, but we don't know what they're planning if the reboot does well. As insulting as it sounds they're relying on their core dolls to sell and THEN might be trying inclusivity. It's possible they don't think their full catalog of diversity will sell....I mean mga made the mistake to reboot we obviously can't expect them to make good decisions here.
I mean good news is based on the upcoming listings at least Amaya is getting the boot for the next few releases
I don't know why every doll line continues to do this. It has failed time and time again.
Magbe there will be series 2 off the slime dolls the same ast he original series 2 but amya will be replaced with poppy

I am only guessing that THEY have a direction that they want their company to go. I do hope that at the end of the Rainbow World? Season... they'll say..." And then we woke up". For now. My kids arent interested. Neither am l... not in this current fever dream, or whatever they are going through.🤷♀️
Peachy Reviews I have a theory on why Poppy's doll was excluded from the main line-up. So in the next season of the show something happens to Poppy and it may have to do with the rainbow portal and the slime pets recently appearing for over the past month. I think poppy is stuck or trapped somewhere. Possibly in Rainbow World. Which is where those slime pets probably came from. I think the other girls will have to rescue Poppy and will find slime pets along the way. This might explain why MGA excluded Poppy. They're probably trying to tell a story with the show. I think Poppy's absence might only be temporary and she'll be back with the group with her own slime pet. That's my theory.
I'm not happy with this change and don't plan on getting any of the dolls. If they come out with a different line that has more high end clothes, and no slime, etc. I may get some of them. I'm glad to hear someone actually saying what they feel about this change, and I think many influencers are acting like it's all just wonderful, and saying how much they really love these dolls. I do hope they bring back Poppy, and I think you may be right about them doing a collector doll of her, because with the huge hype on her being gone, and her sales sky rocketing, they can make a lot of money on a doll of her right now. I don't have any of her dolls, and typically don't get the brighter colors, but I do like her, and some of the Jade dolls. If they do make a collector doll of Poppy, I may get her because she's so adorable and I like the butterflies. And yes, I want to know what they are going to say about Luna. Will there ever be more greyscale SH dolls? I miss them regardless of what they say about sales. I think paying the amount of money they are asking for for the slime dolls isn't right; especially when you aren't getting even good clothes or articulation like they used to have. I wouldn't purchase them because they don't appeal to me, and I would just throw away or donate the slime, pets, etc. So it's really a waste of money to me. Hopefully Poppy will come back, and we will see better dolls in the near future, with more diversity as well.

I think our complaints about rainbow high in s3 made them think we wanted this reboot, which is not what we wanted
The more I think about it, the more I feel like MGA is doing it on purpose. Think about it bratz is coming back this year, "the original fashion doll"(the girl with a passion for fashion). I feel like they are trying to remove Rainbow High from the scene and have bratz take its place. Because they don't want another doll brand competing with bratz.

Yeah, but what might sink mgas battle ship is the mattel IS bringing lines back to the scene and IS planning on competing with Bratz.

Idk, it was majority of adult collectors who kept calling RH was uninspired, boring and overpriced while their mattel creation order was on the way. Good for MGA to just go back to marketing to kids because adults could not appreciate RH after s3.
Why are they even making this a continuation of Rainbow High? Slime and glitter in a fatasy world is so different they might as well just have made a whole new doll line.
They could’ve done rainbow high/shadow high/ pacific coast high releases in smaller batches and instead of rebooting the brand for no reason, the current market would’ve naught all the releases even if they were in smaller quantities IDK WHY they thought they had to reboot!! I got reboot Sunny today and I love her face and that’s it. There’s not much I could do with her without the usual articulation and ai couldn’t really pose her. Idk why they wouldn’t just update the series 1/2 facemold and give us the usual quality along with the new bratz I hateeeee it as an adult collector who’s been around since series 1.
It's the adults going bat shit crazy over a kids toy line for me. We all got our opinions, but some are just sad. I understand that we're getting a reboot that we're not all really happy about, but we also need to be real. It's not about us. It's about the kids, and MGA knows what they are doing. I wasn't really excited till I saw them in person and fell in love with them. I enjoyed making the slime, and I love crystals, so for me, after I got them, I was pleased.
