I'm from Ireland so don't have the shop u have in USA. I save my thick cat litter bags. I done my floor ages ago & varnish it. Now have enough save to start my walls. Brill idea. Thanks for the post.☘️😉🐈⬛🐾🐾
I'm doing this right now on the walls of my caravan. I'm using a roll of brown paper that is advertised as carpet paper and wallpaper paste. Seems to be working fine.
At Lowes you can buy a whole roll of brown paper there's also red blue and green it costs 8.99 per roll I did a 15 by 20 ft room and still have lots left I'm just waiting till someone comes up with a new idea that I may be able to use it on but love it well worth it
Im trying to come up with a cheap but effective wall situation for a basic tub/shower wall... Im thinking drywall with a coat of the red stuff (waterproofing) and then a technic like this to jazz it up... so what do you think of instead of glue i use poly and then coat it about 6 more times or so to seal it good? Opinions welcomed.
How is it holding up all these years? What do you cover the paper bag walls with to protect it? Could you cover it with polyurethane? Also, would it work to paint the glue mixture on both sides of the paper before putting it up on wall (to provide more protection to the finished product). Thank you! :)
Love your demo. I’ve been watching every video I can to get my eyes on because I’m neurotic like that. 😂 Curious why you chose wood glue over Elmer’s white glue. Is it because you’re covering OSB and not concrete or drywall? Have you noticed any discoloration over time? Wood glue has a tint when it dries, which over crumpled brown paper isn’t a huge of course…. Just wondering! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Hey Jim. I been looking forever for a demo on doing this on osb because that's what my floor is. You think you could repost this video with Paper Bag on OSB in the title so people like me can find this? I really appreciate this video man. Good job and gotta say you're cool. My kinda people.
I did my bedroom floor when corona virus started. I looked on UA-cam. Look underpaper bag flooring. I also stained mahogany. And polyurethane. Beautiful.
I love this and am thinking of doing this in my house. May I ask....is that just water you are spraying? And what is the glue to water mix? 50/50? Thank you in advance and thank you for the video!
Hey folks I started this project and ran out of paper. When back to Home Depot and Lowe's to buy some more paper only to find out the quality of the paper has changed a lot. Now as soon as you wet the paper it starts falling apart. I am looking for someone that may have some sitting around that you do not need.
I have done this same effect on various artworks. Speaking from experience, the paper is not as much an issue, the amount of glue/water mix is, meaning dont use so much. If you want to do more, can add it once you have it on flor or wall or whereever. Also the thicker the paper the stronger it will be, obviously, but its not needed. Get on the surface however you wanted with some liquid, and then you can slope it one if you feel the need. Paper, any paper will work.. ill wait for the What about this? or that? yes, paper. I have used, printing paper, brown paper bags, any. Some will take more of the solution and others less, experiment, dont like it, leave it on and then cover it with another peice. I see too many projects get passed over or spend too much all in over thinking it. Simple, glue50%/water 50% if you actually use a measuring cup i will find you and slap you, ha, dont make an artwork into a science project. nothing needs to be precise like that. This is paper mache, we all did as kids. Use any paper, again some react differently but nothing that will hurt anything, for example, waxy like print papers already have a touch of an adhesive or something, but use it, dont like it, cover it, but use it i have those peice to b stronger, most likely the glues or whatever is already in them. get on surface and any dry spots, rub a little of the solution with finger or brush it. but doing too much liquid early will make it a SOB to work with and get on surfaces. get it slightly damp, or slight coat on surface and slap a peice on there bone dry, then add some liquid over it. its paper it gone seep through and you play with the wrinkles they are air pockets, so if your good you can slide the bubble to the edge of the peice and bye bye bubble. I start from center and then spread fingers or a untensil to edge of paper to get the air out. make it fun too, design shapes, use colored paper, stain it, glitter, texture it, put a piece over a saturated liquid ball, and make a little mound. the more layers the stronger it gets. I am amazed at the strength with glue and paper, def. if doing layers, let dry in between. like really dry, unless the surface can get air from bottom or something. let the mind be free. this gentlemen did a fine job, thought he was gonna tumble over a few times, but that is all good too. but you dont need to use as much , just want to get on the surface, if he just used what was on the wall, it would work just fine, its turns to his "putty" cause of all the liquid he has on it and it will crumble, use less water, will be less crumbling, again Experiment. if you cant do this, glue, paper, and litle water, then should go off yourself, cause your making it harder than it needs to be. Be well, Be real, and Be you. I will share and help any and all that need it. feel free to pick on my grammar and spelling mistakes, I know better but too lazy to go back over, and need more wine, priorities!! :)
forgot to mention you can use tissue paper or paper towels, but use the kind gentlemans process and you will not get near the wall. Why? its Tissue, super thin, and a crap ton of liquid, and you have paper clay, you can get on the wall but not flat sheets like when its on rolls, the tissue is more for sculpting or make texture than use a stronger papers over .. but by all means, use it and try. I dont have nails to get the disapperring edge to unfold, haha. LAstly....Have fun with it. get all the family in it. if your nuts like me and forget to wash hands, you will get to peel glue from your hands or wherever you got the glue, no comment, haha, for weeks. peeling it , is oddly satisfing, forget the name of that type of enjoyment, ASMR or something. Keep on being real, being well, and be YOUR Gluey Self. One love to all!!

Hi -- few years back you did the paper bag over OSB I was just wondering how that turned out❓
Poor Melinda. 😂😂

some people have long cracks

yes just water and 50/50 is good
the wetter you get the paper the darker it will be when it dries
Are you going to use polyurethane it?
I am not , but it would make it better and more durable, Dirt , grime and kids fingers might be a problem if you don't
I think gloves are recommended to do this 😂
Can you apply to painted dry wall?
Yes
thank you

Try a local auto paint supply store
