God that gun is beautiful, a complete work of art.
Nice discussion about how you approach shooting different guns and getting used to them. It was also nice you hear you say you are blessed. I feel that way about my piano and my 725 Sporting. My Dad could never had afforded either.
It’s something that never mattered until I started paying attention to how I was actually shooting rather than just going and swinging a gun around.
And although we no doubt work hard for what we have, It’s important to remember how fortunate we are to have been afforded the opportunity to to where we are, what a blessing it is to be there and not to take for granted how transient it could all be.
Great video. That gun really is a work of art! The scalloped pistol grip looks absolutely superb.
Super video as always Jonny- but the sign stated you must wear eye/ear protection at all times. You didn't have your glasses my friend. Safety !!! Thanks for all the informative videos !!
Would it be possible to do a video on cartridge price increase and how it will affect the sport? I've been shooting sporting for five years now and have noticed a large increase in the price of clays and cartridges. Eventually I will be priced out of clay pigeon shooting every weekend to maybe once a month.
It’s an interesting one for sure, I remember saying when it went over £150/thou it would kill off availability but people still carry on. Might even do a podcast on it 🤔
That gun's a real gem, straight shooting and The Clay Tour is coming back .👌
Johnny good luck with the new addition and look forward to the Clay Tour, perfect planning to have a bambino at the end of game season👍
One other thing, what an amazing pistol grip design on that gun!! Looks super ergonomique and comfy!!
What a amazing gun great looking everything about it is beautiful glad you have bonded with it looking forward to more great videos
Jonthorne still amazes me every time I see it! The craftsmanship and woodwork is outstanding! I will own one some day! Brill vid as always! 👌🏼
Gotta love showing the sign of "must wear hearing and eye protection" followed by you... not wearing eye protection. Your eyes are valuable, John. Take care of them.
I've a new gun too , a F3 , I've gone from shite at clays to just being pants , I can live with that...
So glad you've gelled with yours Jonny .
Lovely gun. Longthorne had it on their stand at the BSS. The balance is perfect but it has possibly the longest stock in the history of gunmaking!
Lovely and rightly so you are a happy boy. May I suggest a subject for a new video? Could you compare fibre wad and plastic wad and give your thoughts on the upcoming change to steel shot and how it will/won't make any difference to older and more recent guns. I shoot and live in France where we do not use fibre but will be in the steel shot changeover. The general feeling at my club is that steel won't make much difference to us lot and won't harm the barrels etc. Be nice to hear your thoughts on it though.
Johnny I have to say, I’ve not seen a better looking Gun, I’m sat here for five trying to find the words to describe how utterly gorgeous she is. A credit to Longthorne.
Great vid, beautiful shotgun, would love to have one as well!!
Went into the shop today in botley for the first time today. Had no idea that there was a youtube channel that went with a shop down the road from me lol. Will be watching, very interesting to see this kind of stuff. I'd love to come out to do this one day ;)
I shot there a couple of weeks back it was bitterly cold with the wind it’s changed a hell of a lot there since the english open having last shot there in July I came away smiling there’s some fantastic new stands to keep it interesting
Now that is my kind of clay shooting. Just a bit of fun, and if you hit a few, well that’s a bonus! Lol
Congratulations on the new addition to the family.
Beautiful gun , Haven`t watched the whole video yet just running out to the garage with the grinder to remove a couple of beads
Love that gun!! Shot Barbury a few years ago, wow what a difference!! Great to see you’re getting along with the new toy.
Careful with the wood, I hear the warranty is a little sketchy with Longthorne, not that you will have an issue with them. Another great vid by the way guys.
@Judith Maynard Not True? Because you said it isn’t? others have been far less fortunate. Longthorne warranty T&C’s concerning woodwork are pretty much non existent. Plenty of information online regarding this and these issues. Try Googling ‘longthorne warranty issues’ then check the top hit of one of the most visited shooting forums on the web, but hey what do those guys know right? 😂
A beautiful looking gun. You are a lucky man to own one.
Gorgeous gun mate. I absolutely love that straight up grip. Smashing video mate.
The right stock is back on! Get in!
Still waiting for more local grounds that maybe not quite as cute ;) or Olympic level with owls lodge!
Te felicito te haz hecho de un arma magnifica está preciosa👏👏👏👏👏
If your spending that much coin on a toy it better make you smile! I have enjoyed watching this series a lot! You may want to pick another manufacturer and do it again for the content! Holland and Holland next? Or you could find someone buying a custom gun and film it like it was your own.
Johnny, since when has Wroughton been anywhere near Salisbury Plain 🤣🤣🤣 ya might as well say its north of Watford Gap.
(From France ) lovely gun, i hope meet you one Day in england for a shooting Day, i have a perazzi mx8 "extra " see you later 👍
00:59. The sign says (eye)and ear protection must be worn . Where’s your goggles?
Bravo for the 'new addition'!
If you get back up to Eriswell try their EL1 cartridge, lovely homage to comp X
This just makes me smile! 😊
"Feel God-like with relatively little effort and huge outcome" Isn't that what life is all about? 🎣🐐
lovely gun well done
Would love to have a gun like that made for me. I guess I shall have to stick to my Zoli. Cheers from Australia.
Bloody brilliant johnny 👊👌
Great ground , shot it a few times ,
Great gun
Another fun video and I look forward to your return from maternity leave x
Shout out to Pete and Bas
Fantastic Video as per usual
Clay tour back? Ian Coley ground potentially?
Jonny, I hate to be a stickler but the sign said EYE and ear protection required !
Hi John ,I think you will be really into the Longthorne after after about 12months regular use , obviously a very different handling gun to the the old miroku / Winchester guns .As you full well know there is no substitute for lead up those barrels after the guns been fitted to you .
It’s going to be a long year of frustration with certain targets, but by the end and hopefully 3-4K rounds it should on top form!
Have got my name down for a few comps Gerald, so hopefully I can do them some justice.
Good lad John , you cannot beat the pressure of comp events mixed with your regular practice, you will benefit greatly in your confidence to shoot well .back in my day I would practice at least once a week with comp most w/ends outside of the game season ,i really wish you well with your new investment . Regards from Gerald .
She's a beauty alright, don't get caught sneaking out at night with the mirook though 😆
What is the time waiting for this amazing gun my friend??? What the price???
I might have missed something lol… you have two of these ?
😂 one gun, two stocks. Jim at Longthorne has lent me another gun for the time being so I can just leave the other stock on it ready to go.
Proper Gucci Mink that shot rod.
Love it says eye and ear protection must be worn 😂🤣forgot the eye pro tho😂🤣
The ground was dead quiet when we go there, chances of eyes getting hurt or damaged by something outside of my awareness was pretty limited. Would i shoot a busy day at the ground without Glasses? No.
Great video again 👍
Amazing gun… Can I ask why you would get and automatic safety on a gun if given the choice?
Great video, very pretty gun, but 12grand! Holy 5h1t 🔫😵
Beautiful gun. Do you have two? How are your guns or gun choked?
I really like your videos lol
Lovely gun mate, does this mean the miroku wont see much action now
When are we going to see you deer hunt with that 303?
Hallo, I am from Italy and I like a lot your vest. Where I could buy a vest like yours? Good video ! Congrats!
How much ? This gun custom shop?
I'm going to start speaking proper English like a real Brit. I would certainly sound like I'm a good shot!🤣
For the love of all that is Good in this world! if you carry a $15K+ piece of art, please buy a proper range bag. Leather, tweed or some combination if you will. Loose the cardboard boxes. Love the content and your character. Keep it up.
That cardboard box is part of his character, thats what makes Jonny funny. Besides his better half has to sign off on a shooting bag. He has a birthday coming up, and all he has to do is drop his bucket list to the Mrs. As well as change all the diapers.
Johnny - I want one of those guns, but you're not wearing eye protection... yet at least twice the video focused on the safety sign saying eye protection is required.
Never mind the sign that says eye protection required. Your a You tube star..
Stop making duck noises, you woke up my dog!
Also. Does anybody else cringes to see pins that are not aligned to the action? timestamp 6 seconds in... right face of the gun has a pin at 45 degrees. How much was that gun again? 🙂
Great looking gun but surely you can afford to wear shooting glasses too as Barbury requests that shooters do….
What’s retail pricing on that
Johnny cracking video but yes definitely still a bellend!! Cracked me up yet again and I’m glad your getting on solid with that beautiful custom gun of yours thinking of maybe a change for myself but not the best shooter to be fair but try my best. All the best until next time 👍🏻
A truly superb piece of English art and craftsmanship. I'll have that, one day..... 🙏
The pistol grip is just yummmm.
I want to take that gun out on a date, Johnny. Is that wrong? 🤔
It's my dream to meet you
why dose the sound of the shot changer from josh shooting to you shooting or is that just audio,
A bit of mic positioning maybe and that he shoots Hull Sovereigns and I am on Pro Fibres.
how do i get one? link to get one
Depending on where you are, the answer varies - their website is a good place to start.
Seriously tho where are the spitfires ?😃
😂 😂 I wish it wouldn’t have been as much work to create as it was going to be. Unfortunately the time/cost was viable at the moment.
@@tgsoutdoors agh I see .sometimes things don't always go to plan . Lovely gun / guns it is way it is 👍 . Thanks for making these videos /content
May i ask how much you payed for this beauty? - Or how much you normally pay for such a gun?
It retails at £23k, which puts it with the P and K mid range. They start at £12k for a basic black action, which to be honest I like just as much as the decorated editions.
Do you really think beads make that much of a difference? Just a little nervous about taking mine off
For me - yes. It took a little learning but my gun movement is probably 30% better now.
@@tgsoutdoors Cheers. I'll definitely give it a go next time I go clay shooting
Are ‘beads’ now surplus to requirement on all your guns or is it just a particular issue with this gun
Most of the guns I shoot regularly have the beads removed now. I found it helped break a lot of my bad habits and helped by eye/gun/target relationship.
@@tgsoutdoors Thanks for the reply, it’s an interesting thing for sure because when in the entire history of shotgun manufacture has a gun ever been put on the market without a bead and yet it seems an increasing number of shooters, like yourself, are removing them. I suppose it’s easier to remove them than add them but in a way the bead is a bit of a crutch to the average shooter even though we’re not supposed to see them we would feel confused without one, for a while anyway. Your video production output is prodigious and the shotgun shooting world is the better for it. Congratulations and good luck.
I think the decline in beads is generally driven by the increase in comb height that is fashionable nowadays. Using the rib as a sight picture reference instead of a bead is inherently better for the controlled methods of clay shooting we do now.
Even 15 years ago a ‘flat gun’ was more popular, and if you can’t see a rib, a bead is a must for clays.
Why might you need to work on the comb; isn’t the gun made to measure?
Made to measure is an interesting concept, it fits exactly as Jim and I intended it too. I wanted to see a heap of rib and see what that did in a clay shooting scenario. It’s now about getting used to the new higher sight picture.
@@tgsoutdoors, OK, ta. I thought it would be so a gun fits you more naturally, therefore makes shooting easier and coincidentally, the shooter more accurate.
The other stock is built for just that, and it really is a cracking game gun. For clays however, a level of predetermined movement is there, so the fit is different to achieve the best result. Gun fit isn’t black and white
Would it be rude of me to ask how much it cost you john?
Eye protection? I say this because I'm nursing a bump on my forehead from a chunk of clay.
Sorry to hear it. I usually wear it when the situation requires. A busy ground with clay fragments and shot wanting about the place is very different to a quiet Tuesday morning when I had the layouts more or less to myself.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I appreciate it was a big gun for a big guy, but god it is ugly, ugly, ugly!
Some practice needed then………
Eye protection must be worn🙄
Cyanide capsule
Johnny my wife and me could watch you shoot this Longthorne all day. I live in the States , I would love to go to this builder for a gun. Very lovely peice of English History here.
Longthorne manufacture pistols for the US market, I believe.
Have you watched the videos of the making of Johnny's longthorne? If not, well worth a watch.
@@MrPrimatori yes and what a amazing job on that gun. And what a Company also better than any Beretta I own.
@@mrsmith9079 I just cannot get Johnny's shot gun out of me head it's one of a kind with greatness
@@DFox-ud3gx I think it's all relative though. Longthornes start at 12000 sterling which is almost 16500 dollars. When you factor in Johnny's engraving and the fact he has 2 different stocks, you wouldn't see much change out of 20000 dollars. For me personally that's too much gun for me but it's a beautiful gun either way. I shoot a browning O/U and a Franchi Affinty 3 and they suit my needs. What I'm really saying is I'm jealous... 🤣
