100%. I’ve been in Hell on Earth. A place in your mind and soul where you have no hope, feel no love, have no purpose. This level of depression I wouldn’t wish on even my worst enemy. Death was a reprieve. I’ve already come to terms with death. Going back to that place, the pit of despair, the dark place with no hope, with no God…. I never, ever want to go back there.

Heaven is not discussed in the Torah, in order to emphasize the necessity to do what's right because it's right, and not for the reward, or to avoid punishment. - Rabbi Menachem Weiman

That is an interesting insight. I like it. But it makes one wonder where they thought Enoch went when he was caught up or where they thought Isaiah was talking about in Isaiah 40:22, or what Solomon was speaking of when he dedicated the temple.
I'm guessing the Rabbi did not mean to say heaven wasn't discussed because it clearly is, but rather that it wasn't the specific reward for those who kept the law. And Christians don't believe that either, we don't believe anyone is able to keep the law, that's the whole point of Jesus.

    • @waitstill7091
      @waitstill7091 Рік тому

@@matthayes533 This quote was taken from an AISH article, where the Rabbi gives a Jewish view of Heaven and Hell.
Here is another excerpt: "From Jewish tradition, a different viewpoint emerges starting with the fact that there doesn't exist the concept of everlasting damnation and torture. The Almighty's justice is not served by punishing someone forever. Justice means the punishment fits the crime. Since we are finite and our sins are finite, then our punishment or atonement must be finite."
The Rabbi said heaven is not discussed in the Torah (First five books of Moses) and he's right. Enoch being taken by God is hardly a discussion on heaven.
"24And Enoch walked with God, and he was no longer, for God had taken him." Genesis 5:24
This means the Torah refutes the Christian presuppositions of Heaven, since God never emphasized the necessity to do right on reward of heaven, or fear of hell.

      @matthayes533 Рік тому

@@waitstill7091 If there is no heaven, where did God take Enoch? We can at least infer that Enoch was removed from Earth and enjoyed a genuinely positive existence elsewhere in God's presence. What is Heaven if not that? To say otherwise is to imply that God killed Enoch for being good.
This is not the place for this discussion but I thank you for your wisdom and for sharing the wisdom of this Rabbi.
In regards to your comment about hell and the punishment fitting the crime, you are forgetting a key point of crime and punishment. If I lie to you, you can do nothing to me - you have no authority over me, if I lie to my parents they might send me to my room, If I lie to my government or to a judge I might be put in jail. It's the same crime, but the punishment increases based on the level of authority a person has over me. How much greater would the punishment be if I lie to someone who has infinite and perfect authority over me?
I wish you well on your journey and pray that God continues to draw you closer to Him.
You have the last word, but if you ask a question I will answer out of respect to you.

Really? Where is your evidence that a 3,000 year old rabbi died on a piece of plywood specifically to ease your guilty conscience? Where is your evidence that this man even existed at all, let alone spontaneously rose from the dead after 3 days, a physically and biologically impossible feat to accomplish. Isn't it a little narcissistic to think that someone did, let alone should have, died so that you could stop fretting about your personal mistakes and you could avoid taking responsibility for your own actions. In what world is it even close to coherent, sane, or just to think that a man, whose existence is dubious anyway, who died in antiquity can magically absolve you and people who think like you of responsibility and consequences for your actions and you and people who think like you can magically transfer your guilt and the consequences of your actions onto this fictional character mentioned in a 3,000 year old book written by barely literate peasents? The idea of "Christ dieing for my sins" is nothing more than shifting the burden abandoning personal responsibility, denying reality, ignoring the truth, and lacking the courage to face the consequences of the actions you took and the decisions you personally made. Christianity, and all religion, is a scam, through and through. It is a sad pathetic little story people cling to in order to avoid the cold, hard reality of life in the world, a fantasy that serves as a mental escape , with no basis in truth whatsoever.

Jesus F-ing Christ, stop preaching and droning on about incoherent nonsense from a 3,000 year old fairytale, grow up, and realize that hell is a fictional place, god is a fictional being, and nothing will be lost if you are separated from a fantasy when you die. Jesus said that we need to be born again and that he does not know those that do not do the will of the father. We should live our lives walking with God, part of that means stop sinning. Our desires change to the things that God wants.

We only stop sinning as a result of that trust in our hopeless condition. Our repentance is not work but fruit that works. Faith without works is dead. But works without faith is dead too. We listen to Gods commandments because we hate our sin and love God and want to be like him. Repentance is the fruit of trusting in Jesus. Two sides to the same coin. It’s just important to know that your efforts to run from sin don’t save you. Trusting in God saves you. And that helps you run from sin.

Old Testament verses (written before the birth of Jesus Christ) that prove He is God(Trinity)
      Isaiah 53, Isaiah 42, Daniel 7:13-7:14, Isaiah 41, Isaiah 9, Isaiah 11, Jeremiah 23:5-23:6, Psalm 110
      ua-cam.com/video/7Eeo-82Eac8/v-deo.html
the gospel is explained in these verses below
      1 Corinthians 6:9-6:11, James 4:6-4:7, Matthew 5-7, Matthew 7:21-7:27, Matthew 13, John 3:19, Jeremiah 29:13
the first set of verses i put from The Old Testament talk about His death on the cross and payment for sins(Isaiah 53), a person who appeared as a “Son of Man” (which is what Jesus Christ calls Himself) who was led to God during judgment and everyone worshipped Him (Daniel 7:13-7:14), psalm 110:1 says “The Lord said to my lord”- meaning there are two separate lords-- David wrote this Psalm; his lord was God The Father because it was during The Old Covenant and “The Lord” is Jesus Christ, Isaiah 42:6 says that Jesus Christ will be a covenant and a light for the gentiles(non jews), all the other verses i put down continue to make it so clear that this is the truth and continue to speak directly about Jesus Christ that it is very obvious. Sadly most people have not read The Bible and have been led astray by false teachers that misquote John 3:16 to make people think you can live however you want and never use the context of the verses (John 3:19) or people get their Biblical knowledge from mega churches that are basically just motivational speakers.
The link I put down is further proof which proves who the people that run the world are. They are literal satanist--they worship an entity named lucifer and this name is only found in The Bible. The only religion they are against is Christianity. Throughout The Bible the devil is called the ruler of the world- he rules through the flesh(the sinful ways of the world) and God rules through The Spirit.
the devil is called the morning star in The Bible, so is Jesus Christ. I believe this is because their is a false light and true light. illuminati- “illuminate”
satan tempted eve with the fruit- then their eyes were open to good and evil- he shed light on what was evil and led humanity astray- he corrupted mankind from the beginning (morning)
also on the dollar bill it has the eye emanating light and under the eye in latin it says “new order of the ages”-- it also says “in God we trust”- this is not the true God but the “god of this world” as The Bible states
Jesus Christ is the true light. He was from the very beginning and created the New Covenant (morning star)
He is the true light because He teaches righteousness and the way to Heaven, while satan deceives and teaches people how to fulfill their sinful desires and paves their way to hell to retaliate against God
The verses at the bottom are some of the most important and helpful ways to understand The Gospel and to not be deceived by false teachers. The Gospel is based upon belief, trust, and obedience. Matthew 13 is the parable of the sower, John 14-15 Jesus Christ talks about the spiritual growth that happens to those who trust and rely on Him, Matthew 7:21-7:27 proves that it is not just belief alone, James 4:6-4:7 talks about resisting evil and turning to God, Jeremiah 29:13 says that once you seek God wholeheartedly He will reveal Himself to you

From age of 20 I feel chased by time, and I feel very guilty and ashamed when I have unproductive days. I'm way too conscious about my short life on Earth than I would like to, to the point of obsessively planning too ambitious goals in advance but still worrying execcssively about my future with every step i take. This created so much anxiety and perfectionism resulting in inaction. As a philosopher I think too much abstractly and do too little practically. In the last 12 months i have been thinking a lot about ways to extend human life and i can't seem to let it rest. I desperately want to leave a mark on this Earth before I go but can't figure out how exactly. It's probably not healthy but this is just how i am. Please think about this and don't be deceived by the devil who would love for you to follow him to death in hell and stay with him there for eternity. Hell, called the lake of fire in the Word of God, is very real and Jesus Christ spoke about it very often. The curse of sin, is death. The very real place of hell (the eternal lake of fire) is why Jesus Christ came into this world to die on the cross. Because of His great love for us, His creation, He died on the cross and shed His blood to pay the penalty for all of our personal sins and rebellion against Him.
After His death He descended into Hades, and on the 3rd day He was resurrected from the grave and was seen by His disciples and above 500 others, before His ascension into heaven. Having victory over the grave (the curse of sin), the living Christ is now seated at the right hand of God the Father until He returns to make all of His enemies as footstools for His feet.
He died so that all who believe in Him would live, being made a new creature with a new life here on earth, and the promise of life eternal in heaven with Him (born-again by the Spirit into God's family).
Do not reject Christ Jesus who loved His enemies so much that He died to save us all from the punishment of Almighty God for our sins and eternal damnation in hell, which is the lake of fire. This life is just but a moment. Eternity is forever. Make the right choice! Jesus Christ PAID it all for us! Only BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved! ❤✝

That is what we are all called for - to be redeemed from the fear of death and from perishing and break through to everlasting life. We are all in need of someone to safe us from death and God provided this solution for us! 🙏🤜

I watch movies. It is getting harder and harder to watch. In order to make a movie happen, the author has to force me to suspend my disbelief. I realized just how dangerous this was a long time ago. I was watching "Pirates of the Caribbean". My second viewing of it with friends for some reason triggered me. Jack and his Sparring partner were walking along the bottom of the ocean with a boat tipped on their head. I was into it. "O that's a good idea".
I graduated in Mechanical Engineering. I had to study hydrodynamics. I had to study fluid dynamics. I have a solid background in WHY DO BOATS FLOAT!. I was accepting two characters walking with a boat over their heads with air to the GUNNELS. I had two people smarter than me on the couch. I turned to them and said "Apparently that boat never floated!"
    "What do you mean!"
    "Why do boats float?!"
They were also taken in. A little tiny thing like that worms its way into your brain and you accept it as true. SMART people accept these things. Only later, maybe, you discover that fallacious concept and get rid of it. It is a slippery thing.
But then we have the story of Pinnochio and the Whale. ... And I have to stop and not be so cynical.
Somewhere between surviving being eaten by a whale and using an upturned boat as an Air Supply lies a line. WHERE IS THE LINE?
I don't have an answer. People can be cruel to an extreme. At the same time, the most evil tyrant can take pity on anyone.
How do we balance the perception? Never completely turn off your brain.

I counted my days as early as 4 years of age. I recall vividly thinking, "ok, I've got how many out of 100 left to live;" Lol to the fact young me presumed making it 100 years. But my great grandpa did make it to 102. His daughter, my blessed grandma who lives a room down from me, is 96 I believe. She doesn’t like to specify, could be higher. However, she has the same mental edge as the woman I knew at 60.
I hope I go her way unlike both my grandpas who died with dementia.
EVERYDAY when I was 8 I spent hours upon hours worrying of death. Most particularly, Hell. Hell was on my mind perpetually. As was suicide despite the fact I had an absolute lust for life, didn’t have any depressive qualities. Suicide disgusted me, the idea I could end my life instantaneously was damn scary. I didn’t know I had severe OCD at the time. So I was very much in the dark. Violent imagery and existential dread was compulsive. Wait till puberty and sex comes into the mix.
