Chris, your thoughts are on target as usual. I've found you to be an empathetic and resourceful teacher and guide, and "Produce With Your Heart" is right in line. The problem with one piece of what you present here-use "sous-chefs"- is that most musicians, songwriters, and composers struggle to pay rent and keep food on the table. Those who can afford to farm out their production, their mixing, or their mastering are the minority. The rest of us are forced to rely on our own devices, including the helpful kinds of tips and training that you provide. So at least we have that.

For sure, I totally forget that. I am just mentioning it as an example of it being an option. Follow your heart no matter if you are doing everything on your own.

Great advice! I like to think that creating songs are really about creating emotions.

Thanks Dean! Sorry for the late response. Sometimes I forget about the comments on UA-cam other than on my blog page.

I think this is really good advice! I feel like I am a great singer/songwriter but I need producers to help me get the finished product. That being said...I have spent the last 4 years learning and now I am ready to get a new computer set-up so I can become more self sufficient and learn even more. I know there is a learning curve and I will probably need to outsource the final mixing/mastering for a professional mix to the standards of Sync Licensing. 💜

Thanks Marian, and yes that is certainly a good option.

Do you find that there is different quality requirement between TV/Film & Commercial ADS? In order to get placed, do they both have to sound like they were recorded at Abbey Road?

Nope. You just need to get the music over the threshold and you are good to go with either.
